OBAMA visita / visits Puerto Rico por Maribel Hasting Washington, DC- “Sale loco de contento con su cargamento para la ciudad, ay, para la ciudad”. Con la suave brisa tropical que viene del mar llegó Barack Obama a Puerto Rico. Y algunos se preguntarán qué busca el presidente en el territorio cuyos residentes son ciudadanos estadounidenses pero no pueden votar en las elecciones generales aunque sí en las primarias. La respuesta es simple: fondos de campaña y generar simpatía entre los millones de boricuas que vivimos en la banda acá y sí votamos en las generales.
pero sí sé que la visita relámpago le permitiría sacar un buen cargamento de dolaritos mientras envía un mensaje a los puertorriqueños que sí votan en Estados Unidos de que hay preocupación por el futuro de la Isla del Encanto atormentada por el desempleo, la criminalidad, la violencia doméstica, y la corrupción de funcionarios públicos, entre una larga lista de cosas. Debería ir más a menudo para que pinten edificios, tapen boquetes en calles y avenidas y para que por un momento pensemos que realmente le importamos algo al presidente de turno.

Obama may not be ecstatic, but the quick visit will bring in money while he delivers a message to those Puerto Ricans that can vote in the U.S., there is concern for the Island of Enchantment tormented with unemployment, crimes, domestic
violence, and the corruption of public officials, among a long list of problems. Obama should come more often so the Puerto Ricans goverment paints the buildings, covers potholes on streets and highways, and so that for a moment we feel like we matter to the president. SEE pAGE 3 >>>
