Los ganadores serán honrados durante la 13a Ceremonia Anual de Becas Gowns & Guayaberas, el sábado, 20 de octubre de 2012 en el Coronado Springs Resort de Disney. La Ceremonia de Becas Gowns & Guayaberas de HHSFMO es el evento principal de recaudación de fondos del programa de becas.
Este año HHSFMO una vez más proveerá más de $100,000 en becas universitarias. Los fondos serán distribuidos a 20 estudiantes de la Florida Central que recibirán $5,000 cada uno. Condado Osceola, FL – Para honrar a esos caídos, y a las personas que perdieron a sus seres queridos en ese día trágico del 11 de septiembre, El Club Rotario de Lake Nona, instalará 2,977 banderas en el Valencia College Recinto de Osceola, una bandera por cada una de las almas perdidas ese día, como parte del proyecto conmemorativo del 11 de septiembre.

The flags will be 2’ x 3’ in dimension, supported by 6’ poles, and installed for the week of September 11, 2012. The flags will be placed at three foot intervals in the college courtyard, creating a stunning memorial display into which students and community members will be invited to walk, explore, and reflect. In conjunction with this project, Valencia College will host the countywide September 11th Memorial Ceremony for emergency responders in Osceola County.

New Economic Development Agency unified to create new jobs Condado Osceola, FL – Launching a unified front to create new high-paying jobs, the cities of Kissimmee and St. Cloud and Osceola County plan to establish a countywide economic development agency. The Greater Osceola Development Partnership would, for the first time ever, focus Osceola County’s economic development efforts under one umbrella organization. “There aren’t too many times when you are in a transitional meeting or a transformational moment,” County Commissioner Frank Attkisson said. “This is one of those moments. The individual who gets a job, they don’t care what city, what entity, what county developed it. All they know is that it allows them to provide for their families because it is a good job. That’s what this can do.” The partnership comes as leaders recognize the interdependence of the local economy in the Greater Osceola area, officials said. Collaboration, maximizing resources, building trust through an organization that speaks with one voice will be a key to developing leads and closing deals.
“Osceola County and the two cities offer quite a unique atmosphere for businesses to grow and prosper,” said St. Cloud Mayor Rebecca Borders. “We have been working on implementing innovative approaches to our community’s economic development and we are now even more energized as we work together with Osceola County and City of Kissimmee. “The fact that we all recognize the importance of bolstering economic development and that we all are willing to work together on a common goal for the benefit of our community as a whole is the largest benefit to this partnership,” Borders added. Managers for the cities and the county will work on a framework for how the organization will run, as well as how it will be funded. Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Agentes reciben 172 armas durante “Gas for Guns” Condado Osceola, FL - Los agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola recogieron 172 armas en el evento del jueves, Armas por Gasolina, llevado a cado en el Osceola Heritage Park el pasado 16 de agosto. De 7 a.m. a 7 p.m. los ciudadanos entregaron sus armas no deseadas, algunos trajeron más de una. A cambio, estos recibieron una tarjeta para comprar gasolina de $50. El programa fue completamente anónimo sin hacerles preguntas,
pero las armas fueron verificadas a través de una base de datos nacional para verificar si alguna había sido reportada robada. Los agentes recuperaron 3 armas ilegales. Este fue el quinto año que la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Osceola participó en esta campaña regional coordinada por la Línea del Crimen. our employees’ commitment to volunteerism and the (DeVos) family’s commitment to philanthropy and the entire team’s commitment to making a difference in the community.”

“This is who we are. When you look at the DeVos family’s philanthropy and how they invest in the community, it’s extraordinary. There’s nothing else like it in the NBA,” Landman-Gonzalez said. “And then with Alex Martins, when he was hired one of his goals was to make sure that we’re citizens in the community. We’ve made sure to invest in Parramore and our city at large.”
“The Magic are thrilled and honored to receive recognition in both areas,’’ Martins said. “Our ownership group, the DeVos family, has always encouraged our staff to volunteer, even during work hours. It is through that encouragement that the Magic Volunteer Program (MVP) was born.
This past February the Magic once again picked 19 Central Florida organizations to present grants totaling $1 million as part of the community outreach initiative. The $1 million in OMYF grant money raised the total given to local non-profit groups over the past 22 years to nearly $17 million.
