Poinciana - Noticias / News Joanna Conley nombrada CEO del Poinciana Medical Center Poinciana, FL - Joanna J. Conley, FACHE, ha sido promovida como Directora Ejecutiva del Centro Médico de Poinciana, desde el 1ero de enero de 2013, según anunció Meter A. Marmerstein, Presidente de HCA West Florida. Esta ha servido como Directora de Operaciones del hospital desde el 2012, siendo responsable de coordinar la construcción del nuevo hospital y el edificio de oficinas medicas, del reclutamiento del equipo médico inaugural, y ha trabajado con la comunidad de Poinciana y los negocios para mejorar la disponibilidad de servicios médicos. El Centro Médico de Poinciana, a un costo de $65 millones, abrirá en el verano de 2013 con 30 camas, incluyendo 6 camas en la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Joanna Conley Named CEO for Poinciana Medical Center Poinciana, FL - Joanna J. Conley, FACHE, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Poinciana Medical Center, according to Peter A. Marmerstein, FACHE, President of HCA West Florida, effective January 1, 2013. She has served as the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer since 2012, responsible for coordinating the construction of the new hospital and medical office building, recruiting the inaugural medical staff, and working with the Poinciana community and businesses to enhance the availability of medical services. The $65 million Poinciana Medical Center will open in the summer of 2013 with 30 beds including a 6-bed intensive care unit. The two-story, approximately 110,000 square foot hospital was initially approved in 2007 and has been designed for future expansion to meet the needs of this growing community. Once fully operational, the hospital will employ 200 full time staff members and attract new physicians to the community. The hospital will offer a broad range of services including 24-hour emergency care, cardiac catheterization, and inpatient and outpatient surgery. Conley initially joined Osceola Regional Medical Center, a sister HCA facility in Kissimmee, in 2009 as the Associate Chief Operating Officer and Ethics and Compliance Officer. She has more than nine years of healthcare leadership experience including hospital strategic planning at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, North Carolina. Board certified in healthcare management, Conley is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and was awarded the North Carolina ACHE Early Careerist of the Year Award in 2007. She received a Master of Business Administration from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Public Health, Health Policy and Administration with Honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kissimmee Main Street to Host 5th Annual Kiss-im-mee 5k
Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Main Street will host the 5th annual Kiss-immee 5k on Feb. 16th, 2013 starting at 7:30 a.m. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Kiss-im-mee 5k race promotes heart health with a portion of all proceeds going to the American Heart Association. The race course starts and finishes at Toho Square and takes participants through the historic streets of Downtown Kissimmee. The entry fee for early registration through Feb. 9th is $23. The registration fee will increase to $27 starting Feb. 10th and day of registration is $30. The first 300 participants registered before Feb. 9th will receive a t-shirt at sign in. 19th Annual Arts Alive Osceola County, FL - Arts Alive is a presentation of Osceola County’s most talented performing and visual arts students who audition in February for a coveted spot in the show. High school seniors compete for scholarships in each arts discipline. Arts for a Complete Education (ACE) is now accepting applications for the 19th Annual Arts Alive Program. All applications must be received by January 25, 2013. Auditions will be on February 4 – Instrumental, Theater, and Dance Auditions – Gateway High School – 4:00 p.m. and on February 5 – Visual Art, Vocal, and Musical Theatre Auditions – Gateway High School – 4:30 p.m. Performance pieces must be 2-5 minutes. Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Arrestan sospechoso de asalto sexual y robo armado en Poinciana Condado Osceola, FL Los detectives del Sheriff del Condado Osceola arrestaron a Lyndon DeLeon Scott (FDN 6/12/92) y lo acusaron de Robo Armado, Asalto Sexual Armado, Falso Encarcelamiento, Agresión y Privar a la Víctima de Llamar al 911. Scott al ser interrogado inicialmente cooperó con los detectives. Este aceptó que había entrado a la residencia pero no admitió el asalto sexual. La víctima pudo identificar positivamente al sospechoso. Basados en la información, Scott fue ingresado a la Cárcel del Condado Osceola.

Scott was brought in for questioning and initially cooperated with detectives. He told them he entered the residence but did not admit to the sexual battery. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect. Based on the information, Scott was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Felon Arrested for Robbery at 7-Eleven Osceola County, FL - On January 10 at approximately 1:29 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 7-Eleven located at 4400 S. Pleasant Hill Road in Kissimmee after receiving a robbery alarm call. When deputies arrived they spoke with the employee who indicated a black male entered the store and grabbed a carton of cigarettes from the cashier before leaving the area in a vehicle. The store employee was able to get a partial description of the vehicle and dispatchers located a car matching the description in a computer database and notified deputies of the residence. Based on this information, deputies were waiting for the suspect, identified as Kenyada

Background: On January 14 at approximately 8:56 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Lucaya Drive in Poinciana. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who indicated at 7:00 a.m. an unknown black male came to her door and continuously rang the doorbell. The victim looked out the window and recognized the suspect as someone who had previously come to her residence to request to use the telephone. The victim did not answer the door but was frightened so, she hid in her residence. The suspect entered her home through an unlocked back door and forced her to perform a sex act. Realizan dos arrestos por robo a repartidor de pizza Kissimmee, FL - Los detectives de la Policía de Kissimmee arrestaron a dos individuos por su participación en el robo a un repartido de pizza. On December 31, 2012 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Kissimmee police officers responded to 2030 Cascades Blvd., unit 307 in reference to an armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza delivery person. The victim told officers he received a delivery order to go to 2030 Cascades Blvd., unit 304. When he arrived at the location he was directed by a female suspect to go to unit 307 where her mother would pay for the pizza. The victim arrived at unit 307 where he was met by two males who were armed with handguns. The
male suspects forced the victim into the location where his personal items were taken from him. The suspects fled the scene. Detectives arrested Isley and Tavarez and charged them with Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft and Conspiracy to commit Grand Theft. They were transported to the Osceola County Jail where they are being held on $6,000 bond. This remains an on-going investigation as detectives work to identify the third suspect.

Health centers improve the health of the nation’s underserved communities by ensuring access to primary health care services. Currently, more than 8,500 service delivery sites around the country deliver care to more than 20 million patients.

KUA Seeks Customer Input on Broadcast of Meetings Kissimmee, FL - The Kissimmee Utility Authority is asking its customers to participate in an online survey to gather feedback on the broadcast of its monthly board of directors meetings. The utility is exploring the concept of broadcasting its monthly meetings on Access Osceola, Kissimmee’s local government cable access channel, as well as streaming the meetings on the internet and having them available for on-demand viewing on its website. KUA’s board generally meets the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30
p.m. with special meetings scheduled as needed. The estimated start-up cost to broadcast the meetings is $73,500, according to vendor estimates. Although all costs would ultimately be paid for by utility customers, KUA does not have any plans to raise base electric rates to cover the expense, should the initiative move forward. “One advantage of considering this concept now is that KUA’s Brinson Board Room is scheduled to go through an equipment upgrade in the current budget year, which will improve both the audio

Additionally, you now have a right to vote in our country’s elections. Once you have become a Naturalized Citizen, you will then have a right to enter and exit the United States as a matter of Right.

Por Alejandro Rivera, Abogado Florida Central - Convertirse en un ciudadano naturalizado puede ser un logro espectacular y le dará la tranquilidad de saber que, si no comete fraude para obtener la ciudadanía, en su mayor parte, ya no tiene que vivir con el temor de que su tarjeta de Residencia Permanente Legal, también conocida como “Green Card”, sea revocada por nuestro país. Además, ahora tiene derecho a votar en las elecciones de nuestro país. Una vez que se han convertido en un ciudadano naturalizado, usted tiene el derecho de entrar y salir de los Estados Unidos como una cuestión de derecho. Hay una creencia popular de que tener una tarjeta de Residencia Permanente Legal le da a una persona un derecho absoluto a entrar y salir del país por mucho tiempo a su entera discreción. Esto simplemente no es cierto. There is a popular misconception that having a Lawful Permanent Residence Card gives an individual an absolute right to enter and leave the Country for any length of time at their sole discretion as a matter of their “right’s” as a green card holder. This is simply not true. There may also be some disadvantages to becoming a US citizen such as: Possible loss of your previous citizenship (this is very country specific as some countries do allow for dual-citizenship). Extra scrutiny of your legal status and the problems that that may bring: If there
are things in your background which would not lend themselves nicely to a positive recommendation on an immigration application, then it may not be to your benefit to put in an application for naturalization. Some things that can be potential problems are: past due child support obligations, past arrests or convictions, back due taxes, questionable paperwork upon entry into the United States. A denial of your application can be more than just the loss of a substantial fee for the application, it could lead to possible deportation proceedings depending on the reason of the denial. In the end some people with a questionable naturalization application ultimately decide not to put it in because they decide that the risk of this extra scrutiny far outweighs the benefits Naturalized Citizenship can bring. It is not always beneficial to put a naturalization application for each and every applicant. This decision must be weighed carefully and one should be armed with a significant amount of knowledge. A consultation with an attorney is always preferable before blindly putting in an application without first having some idea as to the strength of your application.

Blake Griffin tuvo un desempeño espectacular en el partido por los Clippers con 30 puntos, ocho rebotes, siete asistencias y un bloqueo pero esto no fue suficiente para derrotar al determinado equipo Magic. ¡Arron Afflalo estuvo brillante! The losing streak is over! By Amanda Ludick Orlando, FL - The Magic played the Los Angeles Clippers in LA last Saturday. This game was a very, very close game. The only difference in this three point game versus the many prior to it is the Magic pulled out a win. The streak is finally over! They no longer hold the title of longest losing streak. And best of all, they broke their devastating streak to the team with one of the best records in the league. Blake Griffin played an outstanding game for the Clippers with 30 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and a block but that wasn’t good enough to defeat this determined Magic team. Aaron Afflalo was on fire! Making all three of his three point attempts and shooting very well from the field would put him at 30 points to end the game. He also had seven assists and seven rebounds plus a steal to help lead this team to victory. It was a close game from start to finish. The Magic tried their best to never let the Clippers get more than a ten point lead and they succeeded. JJ Redick would be a huge asset to this win with 21 points, three assists and three rebounds. Jameer Nelson and Josh McRoberts had a combined 18 points and 13 rebounds
while Nik Vucevic put up another double double. fifteen rebounds, 18 points, a steal, a block, and an assist prove this guy is growing as a

deserved this win was. He’s right. The Magic had consistently lost in heart breaking games. Ish Smith, who’s been playing more due to E’Twaun Moore being out, is gaining confidence. Smith played only twelve minutes but managed seven points, two rebounds and two assists. The Orlando Magic would take this 104 to 101 triumph over the Clippers and head back east. The Magic faced the Washington Wizards in our nation’s capital. One would think that after playing so well and winning would maybe start a new kind of streak, a winning streak, but that was not the case. Glen Davis and E’Twaun Moore met the team in Washington and played this game. It didn’t help. In fact the only highlights even worth mentioning in this 29 point loss are ones involving Ish Smith, Jameer Nelson and Josh McRoberts. Ish Smith found some legs in him this game. John Wall, of the Wizards, tried to pump fake Smith but it didn’t go so well. Smith actually jumped over Wall and recovered quick enough to jump up again and block Wall’s shot. Even though Smith ended up fouling Wall, it was incredible to watch. If you haven’t seen the replay I highly advise you look it up. With only four seconds left
to play Nelson managed a steal, got down the court and threw it over to Josh McRoberts who slammed it in just in time. This put the Magic only down by six. Washington outscored the Magic by 24 in the final half and took the win with a 120 to 91 score. On Wednesday night, the Magic hosted the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers have ten more wins this season and are a very physical team. The Magic found their winning recipe and used it. Managing a 15 to 20 point lead for the most of the game, the Magic were able to play together and win 97 to 86. The Orlando Magic will play at home their next few games and hopefully grab some more wins. They have it in them and seem to be realizing what it takes to get those wins. The team is no longer suffering from illness. Only two players are out, Al Harrington (indefinitely) and Gustavo Ayon (thigh contusion). If the team can stay healthy and focus, wins will be inevitable. This next week’s schedule includes great match ups. Charlotte, Dallas and Toronto will travel here. The Magic take a quick road trip to Detroit on Tuesday. Let’s hope their confidence continues for these games after those impressive wins over the Clippers and Pacers.
