Orlando, FL - Thirty-three students made history on Friday, April 4, when they became the first fire-fighting graduates of the Central Florida Fire Institute at Valencia College.

Arrington is no stranger to the Center, he was their Director of Programming from 2004-2009. He is an Osceola County Commissioner serving since elected in 2008 and currently serves on the Board of Directors for CareerSource of Central Florida, East Central Florida Planning Council and the Poinciana Hospital. He earned his BFA in Theatre Performance from Auburn University.

The Postal Service provides these tips for income tax filers mailing returns: If filing on April 15, mail early in the day at any Post Office. Be sure to verify Post Office hours of operation.

If depositing returns in a collection box on April 15, double-check the pick-up schedule on the collection box. To ensure getting the April 15 postmark, deposit returns before the last scheduled pick-up time.

Affix the correct postage. Some returns include many forms and require additional postage. IRS does not pay postage due and will return items to sender. One ounce is 49 cents. The second ounce is an additional 21 cents.

Ángel ha demostrado su compromiso voluntario con muchas organizaciones de la comunidad, incluyendo 80 horas con el programa de campamento de verano de la Sociedad Histórica del Condado Osceola”, dijo Kelly Trace co-presidente de Amigos de la Juventud de la Sociedad Histórica del Condado Osceola. Young Friends of the Historical Society announce scholarship recipient Kissimmee, FL - The Young Friends of the Osceola County Historical Society (OCHS) have selected Angel Jimenez to receive their annual scholarship.

“This scholarship was created to recognize outstanding high school seniors who are dedicated to preserving the history of Osceola County. Angel has shown his commitment by volunteering with many community organizations, including 80 hours with the Osceola County Historical Society summer camp program,” said Kelly Trace co-chair for Young Friends of the Osceola County Historical Society. Jimenez is set to graduate this May from Osceola High School.

This member and volunteer group was created to assist in the preservation and education of the residents and visitors of the rich past of Osceola County.

They are sharing the vision with the historical society to instill a sense of place by inspiring an appreciation to the County’s culture and natural heritage while preserving a legacy for the future.

“Young Friends of the OCHS was founded in 2009, and every year since, our fundraising efforts and events have grown significantly, allowing the impact of our organization to reach more young adults looking to go to attend a post-secondary institution,” said Rachel Pinkert, also co-chair for the Young Friends. “We’re making a difference and the return to the community has been a rewarding one.”

The next concert is going to be held on Friday April 12, completing a total of 6 nights filled with Caribbean flavor imported directly from the Island of Enchantment.

Pedro Zorrilla, event organizer and proud Puerto Rican businessman, has been organizing this event for 6 years in the tourist area of San Juan, Puerto Rico and brought this wonderful musical event to the City of Orlando, because as he says, “this city is the 79th village of the island.”

Child care worker arrested for Child Abuse

Trabajadora de cuido infantil arrestada por abuso infantil Condado Osceola, FL - El 7 de abril, aproximadamente a las 6:45 de la tarde, agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondieron a Kidsville Academy ubicada en el 2557 Remington Boulevard, en Kissimmee. A su llegada, los agentes hablaron con una madre quien indicó que cuando llegó a la escuela para recoger a su hijo de 3 años de edad, la escuela tenía un informe de incidente declarando que este estaba saltando y se cayó lo que le dejó una gran contusión en la cabeza, pero su hijo le dijo que había sido herido en la clase cuando su maestra lo empujó y cayó en un catre de metal. Otro estudiante de la clase fue testigo del incidente.

El administrador de la escuela cooperó con la investigación y el video de vigilancia suministrado confirmó las

Osceola County , FL - On April 7 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Kidsville Academy located at 2557 Remington Boulevard in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a mother who indicated when she arrived at the school to pick up her 3-year old son, the school had an incident report stating he was jumping and fell which left a large bruise on his head, but her son told her he had been hurt in class when his teacher pushed him and he fell on a metal cot. Another student in the class witnessed the incident.

The school administrator cooperated with the investigation and provided video surveillance which confirmed the victim’s statements. Detectives brought the teacher, Laura Maria Acevedo in for questioning.

She cooperated with the investigation and, based on her statements and the evidence, Acevedo was charged with Child Abuse and booked into the Osceola County Jail.

The investigation is on-going at this time and detectives are asking anyone who has had a similar incident involving Acevedo to contact Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477) or the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222. City of Kissimmee offers registration for swim lessons Kissimmee, FL - The City of Kissimmee will be holding swim lesson registration on Saturday, April 12th from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center located at 2204 Denn John Lane in Kissimmee. Registration will be available for the first two sessions.

Group swim lessons are offered in twelve two-week sessions beginning in April and running through October. Session 1 dates are April 21 thru May 1. Session 2 dates are

May 5 thru May 15. Classes are held Monday thru Thursday and are 30 minutes in length.

Due to the weather being unpredictable, a six class minimum is guaranteed. Classes are scheduled in response to demand. Swim lessons are taught by Mermaid Aquatics.

Los Timberwolves jugaron sin su poderoso delantero estrella, Kevin Love, mientras que el Magic se quedó sin su centro, Nik Vucevic. Dewayne Dedmon hizo la primera aparición de su carrera en la NBA junto a Kyle O’Quinn, Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo y Maurice Harkless. En sus 14 minutos de juego, Dedmon tuvo seis rebotes, un robo, dos puntos y tres faltas personales. O’Quinn maneja el papel de líder en rebotes y fue capaz de agarrar 13 rebotes. Dewayne Dedmon made his first start of his NBA career alongside Kyle O’Quinn, Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo, and Maurice Harkless. In his 14 minutes of play, Dedmon had six rebounds, one steal, two points, and three personal fouls. O’Quinn handled the role of leading rebounder and was able to grab 13 boards. Afflalo led the team in scoring with 18 points while Tobias Harris and Harkless each had 17. Although Nelson had a poor shooting night, he was still able to dish out 12 assists and help lead the Magic to a 100 to 92 victory over Minnesota.

Wednesday night, the Orlando hosted the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn was coming off a win over Miami the previous night. The same starting lineup worked for this game. Afflalo was on fire as he finished the first quarter with 11 points. He would finish the game with 25. E’Twaun Moore finished with

17 points; fifteen of those were from three pointers. Even though the Nets’ Joe Johnson had 31 points, the Magic were able to play well and finish with a win. Final score was Orlando 115 to Brooklyn 111.

This was the third consecutive game without Orlando’s starting Center, Nike Vucevic. Vucevic is out with a sore Achilles tendon. These two wins were huge for backup Center, O’Quinn.

The Magic are now 3-28 without their starter, but as O’Quinn has seen more minutes, he’s also seen more confidence. He had two blocks on the night; one of which came during those crucial final two minutes of the game.

He has taken long strides this year with his consistency and confidence.

Around noon on Wednesday, the Magic inducted its first two people into their new Hall of Fame. Nick Anderson and Pat Williams were the honorees. Anderson was the Magic’s first draft pick in 1989, picked 11th overall and is still very active in the Orlando community. He played for ten seasons with the Magic and remains the franchise’s all-time leader in games played. He is also second in scoring for the franchise. Pat Williams is the founder of the Magic. He left the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1986 and moved to Orlando in hopes to sell

Después de dos empates, el entrenador Adrian Heath enfatizó a sus jugadores la importancia de anotar temprano. Los Leones lo escucharon alto y claro. Kevin Molino, un centrocampista del club, remató un centro que le envió Tyler Turner en el tercer minuto del partido.

Orlando parecía relajado y confiado en su juego, creando muchas buenas miradas. Rob Valentino fue capaz de sacar provecho de un centro de Yordany Alvarez.

Los Leones mantuvieron el liderato por dos de cara a la segunda mitad, pero un error de Orlando crearía una

Orlando, FL - The Orlando City Soccer Club hosted the Rochester Rhinos last Saturday. After coming off two draws, Coach Adrian Heath told his players the importance of scoring early. The Lion’s heard him loud and clear. Kevin Molino, a midfielder for the club, finished off a cross from Tyler Turner in the third minute of the match. Orlando looked relaxed and confident in their play, creating several good looks. Rob Valentino was able to capitalize on a cross from Yordany Alvarez.

The Lion’s held the lead by two going into the second half but a mistake from Orlando would create Rochester’s golden opportunity.

Aodhan Quinn made a bad pass back to Brad Rusin but JC Banks, a midfielder for the Rhinos was able to run on to it and strike it past Orlando’s goalkeeper. That was the only goal for Rochester but there was more left in the Lions. Dennis chin was able to slide in the third goal for the club off a pass from Molino.

Even though the three to one victory over Rochester left the club undefeated, the win wasn’t the

prettiest. Two of City’s player earned yellow cards, Luke Boden and Tyler Turner. It was a rough match but Orlando proved victorious.

Saturday, the team will host the Charleston Battery at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex before hitting the road for the following two games. The team also announced that it will begin broadcasting its games live in both English and Portuguese.

The club hired former TV Globo and SportTV commentator Marcos Peres.
