Kissimmee, FL - A sólo 11 meses de estar abierto, Poinciana Medical Center anuncia sus planes de ampliar las instalaciones y los servicios, en un esfuerzo para atender las crecientes necesidades de salud de Poinciana y las comunidades circundantes. Este proyecto, de $26 millones, aumentará 40,000 pies

This $26 million project will increase the hospital’s size by 40,000 square feet, adding two floors and increasing the number of patient beds from 30 to 76. Along with these new all-private patient rooms, other facility upgrades include a 64 Slice CT, a 1,000-squarefoot educational meeting space and additional patient/visitor parking. “I’m very excited that we are able to grow so rapidly to meet the healthcare demand we’ve seen since we opened our doors last year,” said Joanna Conley, Chief Executive Officer of Poinciana Medical Center. “Along with the 10 bed expansion of our emergency department that is currently underway, these new plans for growth will make it possible for Poinciana Medical Center to continue to provide quality care, close to home for the residents of Osceola and Polk counties.“ Construction is slated to begin in late 2014 and expected to last 12 to 16 months.

Puerto Rican Parade 2014 Kissimmee, FL - Last Friday, June 6, the Puerto Rican Cultural Center Committee, held a press conference at Melao Bakery to inform the community about the Florida Puerto Rican Day Parade 2014. The event is going to take place on November 2nd around Osceola Heritage Park. On Friday, October 31, they are going to have their traditional Grand Gala where the contest is going to take place to select the queens of Miss Puerto Rican Parade. On November 1st and 2nd they will have the Business Expo, Health Fair and Music Festival at Osceola Heritage Park.

Lawyers join forces to tackle increasing tide of foreclosures Orlando, FL - Florida residents facing foreclosure may get some relief as the state’s most experienced housing attorneys are banding together to address increasing foreclosure rates. Legal aid and legal services organizations have established hotlines statewide dedicated to providing free legal advice to homeowners who are at risk of losing their homes. These efforts could not have come at a better time. While foreclosure
filings have declined by 20 percent nationwide compared to this time last year, Florida remains the state with the highest foreclosure activity in the country. According to RealtyTrac, which monitors real estate trends across the country, one of out every 400 houses has a foreclosure filing in Florida – nearly three times the national average – and the amount of foreclosures is still increasing. In April, the number of properties that received a foreclosure filing in Florida was 2% higher than the previous month.
“We all believe in the American dream – if you work hard, you should be able to have a home where you can raise a family. A nation honors Puerto Rico’s Veterans Washington, DC President Barack Obama signed into law a bill to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the United States Army’s 65th Infantry Regiment; an Army unit composed mostly of soldiers from the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico called the “Borinqueneers.” They are nicknamed after the native Taino indian name for the island of Puerto Rico - Borinquen. Comunidad / Community Estudiantes de Florida Technical College ganan concurso Orlando, FL - Continuando con una tradición de excelencia en la educación, dos estudiantes de Florida Technical College (FTC) ganaron primer lugar con medallas en dos categorías diferentes en el Evento de Belleza Internacional Premiere en Orlando, 2014. Este evento es el más grande de solo-profesionales de la única feria de la industria de belleza más grande de Estados Unidos y cuenta con la presencia de miles de personas cada año a partir de la nación y en el extranjero. Estudiante Angela Reyes tomó el primer lugar en la categoría de Damas Progresista color, corte y estilo, mientras que el estudiante Sebastián Vargas ganó el primer lugar en la Competencia Peluquería Xotic. El Sr. David Ruggieri, CEO de

Florida Technical College students won first place Orlando, FL - Continuing with a tradition of excellence in education, two Florida Technical College (FTC). Kissimmee students on Tuesday seized first place medals in two different categories at the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event, 2014. The event is the largest professionals-only beauty industry trade show in the United States and
it is attended by thousands of people every year from the nation and abroad. Student Angela Reyes seized first place in the category of Ladies Progressive Color, Cut and Style, while student Sebastian Vargas won first place at the Xotic Barber Competition. FTC CEO, David Ruggieri, congratulated the students and their teachers.
“We are very proud of Angela and Sebastian’s tremendous performances,” Ruggieri said. “These awards are a testament of their dedication and unique artistic ability. But success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Behind these students there is a team of dedicated FTC professionals that have taken their raw talent and transformed it into a winning gem.” Reyes and Vargas said the award is
likely to open doors for them in the professional world, as they get ready to launch their careers. “Winning a competition in such a prestigious event tells a potential employer that I am at the top of my game,” Reyes said. “I’m confident that this award, coupled with my FTC diploma, is a terrific foundation for a successful career in a field that I am passionate about.”

New Major League stadium renderings released By Amanda Ludick Orlando, FL - Orlando City Soccer Club released the renderings for the new stadium this week. The impressive stadium features fan areas and full roof canopies to cover seating areas. The stadium capacity is 19,500 and is expected to fill up. Season tickets are on sale now! And through the end of the World Cup, fans can purchase tickets for the 2015 MLS season starting at $16 a match which includes 20 matches.
The debut season will be played in the newly renovated Citrus Bowl and the Team will utilize the lower bowl. Orlando is sure to sell out of fill these stadiums if their impressive record holds up. The Lions have tied the teams’ record for unbeaten matches. Orlando beat the Orange County Blues Wednesday night. In the home match, Orlando got off to a slow start playing on the wet field. In the 37th minute of the game, Orange County
would make the most of a counter attack and score the first goal of the game. During stoppage time before the half, Orlando evened the score. Corey Hertzog was able to finish on a cross from Darwin Ceran. Less than five minutes into the second half Bryan Burke placed the ball at the far post of the goal. Austin da Luz was able to head the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs and take the lead. Orlando finished the game with a 4 to 1 lead.
Brad Rusin scored his first two goals for Orlando. The first was after Adama Mbengue found Rusin in the back post. Rusin sent a header to the back of the net. Less than ten minutes later, Rusin tapped in the ball sent by Tyler Turner. Orlando is set to play its next two matches out of town before returning home to host Brazilian super-club, Sao Paulo F.C. on June 20th.
