El arquitecto/ingeniero del proyecto Heery Internacional diseñó el hormigón prefabricado con características arquitectónicas similares al edificio adyacente del Condado, incluyendo marcos de aluminio, ladrillo, elementos de piedra que combinan con el resto del campus.

Además, hay 4,652 pies cuadrados de espacio comercial/adaptable en la planta baja--frente a la calle Emmett.

Durante la construcción, el estacionamiento empleó cientos de trabajadores en diversos oficios a lo largo del proyecto. El montaje de la estructura de hormigón prefabricado comenzó el viernes, 2 de diciembre de 2011. En total, hubo 1,164 piezas traídas desde Tampa y puestas en el lugar. El punto más alto es de 102 pies, 8 pulgadas en la parte superior y por encima de la entrada y de los ascensores en la calle Bryan.

business downtown. On a 1.5-acre footprint, the garage holds more cars than the entire surface parking the county previously had available for those coming to the downtown campus.

Project architect/engineer Heery International designed the precast concrete with architectural features similar to the adjacent County buildings,

including aluminum frames, brick and cast stone/ masonry elements so that it blends with the rest of the Courthouse Square. In addition, there is 4,652 square feet of retail/flex space on the ground floor -- facing Emmett Street.

During construction, the garage employed hundreds of workers in various trades over the course of the project. Erection of the precast

concrete structure of the garage began on Friday, December 2nd. In total, there were 1,164 pieces hauled from Tampa and put in place. The highest point is 102 feet, 8 inches to the top of the precast above the elevator lobby entrance at Bryan Street. Hanson, Walter & Associates Inc. served as civil engineer and Manhattan Construction Inc. is the construction manager.

East U.S. Highway 192 Corridor improvement moves forward Osceola County, FL – Osceola County Commissioners recently moved forward with steps to improve a section of its East U.S. Highway 192 corridor.

Commissioners unanimously approved establishment of an East U.S. 192 Community Redevelopment Agency board for a 2.8-mile segment of U.S. 192 stretching from Kissimmee City limits to Partin Settlement Road.

Commissioners will sit as the CRA board, but they have the option of creating an advisory board.

“We are moving a step closer in allowing businesses to prosper and develop in this future, vibrant economic corridor of Osceola County” said Commission Chairman John Quiñones.

Strategic Plan goals: to grow and diversify the county’s economy; to upgrade the county infrastructure and transportation network; and create great neighborhoods that are safe and livable.

Next steps for the agency include creating a Community Redevelopment plan and initiating a funding mechanism. The plan will address the unique needs of the area and include the overall goals for redeveloping the area, as well as identifying specific projects designed to improve aesthetics and encourage private developers to invest in the CRA district.

Florida Technical College Feria de Empleo y Tecnología de FTC Kissimmee, FL – Los residentes de Kissimmee y comunidades adyacentes pudieron disfrutar de la Expo de Tecnología y Feria de Empleo de FTC, Recinto de Kissimmee, el pasado jueves, 26 de abril, un evento donde se exhibieron algunas de las más populares innovaciones tecnológicas contemporáneas.

“Las personas que asistieron a nuestra Expo no sólo pudieron ver algunas de las innovaciones tecnológicas de hoy, sino que además pudieron aprender cómo integrar la tecnología a sus carreras y sus vidas a través de una serie de seminarios y talleres gratuitos”, explicó el Sr. Garcés. “Estos seminarios de temas tecnológicos son relevantes para los residentes de la Florida Central debido a que se relacionan con carreras de gran demanda en nuestra área”.

Kissimmee goes high-tech at FTC’s Tech Expo and Career Fair Kissimmee, FL – Residents of Kissimmee and adjacent communities were able to enjoy FTC’s Tech Expo and Career Fair, an event that showcase some of today’s technological innovations and techniques. St. Cloud - Noticias / News Traiga Sus Hijas e Hijos a Trabajar St. Cloud, FL – El personal de Recursos Humanos de la Ciudad de St. Cloud creó una experiencia educativa con un día lleno de actividades para los niños de empleados municipales durante el Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work® (Traiga Sus Hijas e Hijos a Trabajar) el 26 de abril en City Hall.

Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work® Day St. Cloud, FL – City of St. Cloud Human Resources staff created an educational experience with a day full of activities at City Hall for the children of municipal employees during the national Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work® Day April 26.

This year, 12 children participated in various morning activities, including an forensic evidence demonstration using plaster to lift shoe imprints, gardening, arts and crafts, a water conservation activity, and a visit to the St. Cloud Police Department’s Mobile Command Unit. In the afternoon, the children “shadowed” their parents in their individual work centers.

St. Cloud, FL – St. Cloud City Council adopted Resolution No. 2012064R April 26 during a regular council meeting at City Hall. The resolution authorizes Mayor Rebecca Borders to enter into a lease agreement with St. Cloud Boat Rental, Inc., for boat rental services at the city’s lakefront.

City Manager Tom Hurt negotiated a lease agreement with St. Cloud Boat Rental, Inc., as directed by City Council, in accordance with Request for Proposal No. 2011-095. The agreement between the City of St. Cloud and St. Cloud Boat Rental, Inc., begins upon adoption of the resolution and ends April 26, 2017.

Osceola Council on Aging Receives a Grant From BJ’s Charitable Foundation Osceola County, FL - The Osceola Council on Aging has been awarded a $5,000 grant from BJ’s Charitable Foundation for their nutrition programs.

The funding will be used to purchase raw foodstuffs for the purpose of preparing meals for the Council’s five congregate Dining Club sites and the Meals on Wheels program. The prepared meals will then serve frail, low-income seniors and disabled adults to help them maintain self-sufficiency and avoid institutional placement.

Los padres Melissa Cook-Osani y Joseph “Joey” Osani iban de camino hacia el Hospital de Celebration desde St. Cloud, cuando Melissa se dio cuenta que no iba a llegar a tiempo. Ya que estaban cerca del Osceola Heritage Park, Melissa le dio instrucciones a Joseph de que se detuviera en la Estación de Bomberos # 12 de Kissimmee.

La pareja esperaba que el equipo estuviera en el lugar a su llegada.

Sus esperanzas se hicieron realidad ya que los bomberos inmediatamente se prepararon para asistir el nacimiento. Afortunadamente para el pequeño “Mikel”, su madre es una EMT experimentada, que trabaja para el Hospital de la Florida. Esta reconoció la urgencia de la situación, conocía donde estaba localizada la estación de bomberos más cercana y los recursos que iban a necesitar.

Luego del nacimiento del bebé, la madre y el bebé fueron transportados al Centro Médico Regional de Osceola para evaluación. Hoy, Mikel es un hermoso niño de cinco meses.

Firefighters recognized for assisting with baby delivery Kissimmee, FL - The City of Kissimmee Commission recognized the firefighters from Kissimmee Fire Station #12 C-Shift, who delivered a newborn at 2:18 a.m. on November 7, 2011. The crew was commended during the City Commission meeting on Tuesday, May 1.

Lt. John McCommon, Firefighter/ Paramedic David Boykin, Firefighter/ Paramedic Dan Dodd, Firefighter/ Paramedic Jason Giebenrath, and Firefighter /EMT Alan Taylor helped to bring Joseph Michael Cook-Osani into this world.

Parents Melissa Cook-Osani and Joseph “Joey” Osani were driving to Celebration Hospital from St. Cloud, when Melissa realized she was not going to make it. Since they were near Osceola Heritage Park, Melissa gave Joseph instructions to go to the Kissimmee Fire Station # 12.

The couple hoped the crew would be on site upon their arrival.

Their hopes were realized as the firefighters immediately assembled to assist in the delivery. Fortunately for little “Mikey,” his mother is an experienced EMT, who works for Florida Hospital. She recognized the urgency of the situation, knew where the nearest fire station was located and the resources that were needed.

Following the baby’s delivery, both mom and infant were transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Today, Mikey is a thriving five-month-old.

Melissa, Joseph and Mikey attended the City Commission meeting to reunite with the members of Fire Station #12 and express their gratitude for a “job well done.”

Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Arrestan sospechoso de doble homicidio

Kevin Satterfield de 55 años enfrenta dos cargos por Asesinato en Primer Grado y un cargo por Intento de Asesinato.

Condado Osceola, FL Aproximadamente a la 1:00 a.m., del 2 de mayo, Kevin Satterfield fue arrestado y tomado en custodia en Opelousas, Louisiana. Este fue arrestado en el Motel 8, localizado en el 5791 1-49 South Service Road. El Servicio de Operaciones Tácticas para Ofensores Violentos de los Marshals de los E.U., la Oficina del Sheriff de St. Landry Parish y el equipo SWAT de la Policía de Opelousas hizo contacto con Satterfield quien salió del cuarto de hotel y se entregó sin violencia.

La mujer fue identificada como la esposa de Satterfield, Vicki Satterfield de 53. Una tercera persona, la hija de Satterfield, de 21, quien tiene ocho meses de embarazo, fue aerotransportada al Centro Médico Regional de Osceola en condición crítica. Otra mujer adulta, un niño y un infante estaban también en la residencia al momento del incidente pero no fueron lesionados.

He was arrested at Motel 8, located at 5791 I-49 South Service Road. By Kevin Waldbieser Orlando, FL - After winning game 1 in Indiana, the Magic have dropped the last 2 and now find themselves right back where they started at the beginning of the series. There was a lot of positivity throughout the team after the first win, but heads were hanging low on the walk back to the locker room Wednesday night.

Indiana has beaten Orlando by a combined 38 points in the previous 2 games. Outside of Glen Davis and JJ Redick, not a single player on the team has put in a solid performance since game 1. The majority of the struggling by Orlando has happened in the first and third quarters. They dig themselves into a hole from the beginning and then spend most of the game trying to climb their way out of it.

The obvious problem that head coach Stan Van Gundy needs to address is the lack of energy he is getting from the starting lineup. Those are the guys that begin the game and the second half, where the team is playing the worst. There has been discussion of a shakeup of the starting lineup, likely replacing Jason Richardson with JJ Redick.

Ryan Anderson continues to be a gigantic disappointment in the series.

He scored just 7 points and grabbed an unbelievably pathetic 1 rebound in over 32 minutes on the floor. He has shown that he has very little offensive game when Dwight Howard isn’t in the game demanding double teams and leaving him wide open at the threepoint line. He gets frustrated with his lack of scoring and quits hustling, which renders him completely useless.

Indiana continuously attacked Ryan whether he was guarding David West or Roy Hibbert. It didn’t take long for Pacers head coach Frank Vogel to realize Anderson can’t guard either of their big men.

Game 4 will be at Amway Center this Saturday at 2pm and it is a must-win for the Magic. They can either tie the series up and turn it into a best-ofthree, or drop into a 1-3 hole that they will probably never recover from.

There has been discussion of a shakeup of the starting lineup, likely replacing Jason Richardson with JJ Redick.
