De acuerdo con Luis De Rosa, uno de los organizadores del evento, se destacó durante la Cumbre el reconocimiento de instituciones de negocios como Goya Foods of Florida, La Rosa del Monte, y la recientemente establecida Mech-Tech College, una escuela con base en Puerto

Rico que recientemente se expandió a Orlando. El evento contó con la asistencia y participación de oficiales electos puertorriqueños de la política local, negocios, líderes comunitarios, así como conferenciantes invitados representando la Casa Blanca y la Administración de Pequeños Negocios de los EU.

According to Luis De Rosa, one of the event’s organizers, highlights of the Summit were the recognition of business institutions such as Goya Foods of Florida, La Rosa del Monte, and the newly established MechTech College, a Puerto Rico based school recently expanded into Orlando.

The event counted with the attendance and participation of local Puerto Rican elected, business, and community leaders, as well as guest

speakers representing the White House and the US Small Business Administration.

and certified equine specialists in a holistic approach to healing.

Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Arrestan Pastor por actividad sexual con un menor Kissimmee, FL – La policía de Kissimmee arrestó a un pastor local por actividad sexual con un menor y les están pidiendo a cualquier otra posible víctima que se presente ante las autoridades.

El 8 de mayo de 2012, oficiales del departamento de policía de Kissimmee recibieron una acusación hacia el pastor del Templo Pentecostal Puerto de Salvación, Angel Perez, de 45 años, por envolverse en actividad sexual con un joven de 16 años de su iglesia. Los detectives entrevistaron a la víctima quien declaró que mientras pasaba la noche en la residencia del pastor entre septiembre y octubre del 2011, el pastor lo tocó de forma no apropiada mientras dormía.

Esto ocurrió en tres ocasiones diferentes.

Pastor arrested for sexual activity with a minor Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee police arrested a local pastor for sexual activity with a minor and are asking any other possible victims to come forward.

On May 8, 2012, the Kissimmee police department received a complaint that 45-year-old Angel Perez, a pastor at Templo Pentecostal Puerto De Salvation, had engaged in sexual acts with a 16-year-old boy from his church. Detectives interviewed the victim who stated while he spent the night at the pastor’s residence in September and October of 2011, the pastor touched him inappropriately while he slept.

This occurred on three separate occasions.

Cámara en semáforo resuelve conflicto por accidente Kissimmee, FL – La cámara instalda en el semáforo en Kissimmee entre Main y Neptune ayudaron a determinar el culpable de un accidente ocurrido allí.

El 18 de mayo, aproximadamente a las 10:00 p.m., ocurrió un accidente automovilístico en la intersección de Neptune Road y Main Street en Kissimmee. Cuando los oficiales llegaron a la escena, recibieron declaraciones conflictivas de los conductores envueltos en el mismo.

Los oficiales tomaron el reporte y no emitieron citaciones en el momento, esperando poder revisar el video de la cámara instalada en el semáforo de la intersección. Luego de revisar el video, el oficial emitió una citación al conductor que claramente no respetó la luz roja y causó el accidente. Nadie fue herido durante el accidente.

Red light camera resolves conflicting accounts of a crash Kissimmee, FL – The red light camera installed in Kissimmee at Main and Neptune assisted in resolving fault of a crash that occurred.

On May 18, 2012 at approximately 10:00 p.m., a traffic crash occurred at the intersection of Neptune Road and Main Street in Kissimmee. When officers arrived on the scene, they were receiving conflicting accounts from the motorists involved. The officer took the report and did not issue a citation at that time, waiting until he was able to review the video from the red light camera installed at the intersection.

Upon reviewing the video, the officer will be issuing a citation to the car that clearly ran the red light causing the crash. No one was injured in the crash.

“Driver distraction could be attributed to the crash,” said Chief Iwanski, “In this case, the camera was able to capture the overall picture.

OKC Thunder rips through the Lakers knocking them out of the NBA Playoffs

By Roberta Medina Orlando, FL – It was only a matter of time for Kobe Bryant’s season to come to an end. The Oklahoma City Thunder dominated Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday night.

Russell Westbrook led all Thunder scorers with 28 points, while Kevin Durant scored 25 points with 11 rebounds. Kobe Bryant had 42 points with 5 rebounds, but still couldn’t keep

up with the Thunder. OKC is too quick, too young, and just too talented to be denied the way they play the game of basketball. The Lakers were neck and neck with OKC the whole game until the last couple minutes of the 4th quarter. The final score was 106-90, sending the OKC Thunder to the NBA Western Conference Finals.

Kobe Bryant tried carrying the Lakers on his own, but that wasn’t enough.

Kobe pulled out all the stops and

played as if the game was do or die, which it was. Unfortunately, the rest of the Lakers did not play with the same fire. Although Kobe Bryant has five championships in his career, it wasn’t enough to hold off from being eliminated in Game 5. The Lakers should have been swept out of this series. The Lakers may have been affected by the many changes they’ve experienced between a new coach and trades such as Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom. Or

they simply don’t have what it takes anymore to go to the next round. The Lakers will now face a long off-season full of questions and lacking answers.

It’s not the same for the Lakers and Kobe, who has been moved to the side with new and younger blood taking over the NBA. With a packed arena of 18,000 fans inside and about 8,000 outside, the Thunder had so much adrenaline and motivation to win Game 5 with the support of Oklahoma City. OKC Thunder are steaming and on fire.

They have become better as individuals and as a team. The three musketeers: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Hardin are ready to bring the younger, quicker, and more athletic OKC team to the hoop. If they continue to play with power, energy, and determination they will advance to the NBA Finals. OKC Thunder can come through when needed the most to show their enthusiasm, and take on any team in the NBA. OKC advances to the Western Conference Finals to take on the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio, Texas.

Overall statistics are saying the Spurs are going to beat OKC, considering the Spurs have not lost a game since April 11. The Thunder have what it takes to put the old timers Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, up for a challenge in this series. I call it, the “Old Timers” vs. the “Young and the Restless”. They are very consistent and capable of taking on this team.

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals will air this Sunday, May 27 on TNT at 8:00pm.

Osceola County School For The Arts one of America’s best high Schools of America Condado Osceola, FL – Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA) has earned a prestigious place in the Gold Medal category of the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools newest ranking. Of the nearly 22,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia reviewed, OCSA earned the ranking of 352. The school ranked 26 within the state of Florida.

Two additional Osceola schools, the district’s Professional And Technical High School (PATHS) and New Dimensions High School, were also named in the Bronze category in the same report.

U.S. News ranks America’s Best High Schools annually by using a three-step process. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for collegelevel work.

Schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, how well they prepare students for college, and other factors.
