Geography is the study of the places that make up the world around us. Geographers are interested in how human activities and natural processes change the Earth’s places, and in the links between these places. More than ever before, geographers help other people understand how change affects people and places, and how this change can be managed. Geographers have a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world, and this leads them to ask questions about what they see and experience. Geographers use a range of key concepts and skills to answer such questions. Each of these concepts and skills is a tool that you can use to better understand your world. As you master each of these concepts and skills you will gradually fill your toolkit with a range of useful geographical tools. These will help you better understand this amazing planet.
