MAY 2018 We are not known to follow anyone’s rules, but over the years, we created a set of our own in order to make our lives easier, and the process more straightforward. What makes BELLO different and dare I say: special - is the fact that we do not depend on anyone dictating what we can and can not do, what we can or can not say. With freedom comes the responsibility, and the one we have to you is very important: to entertain, inform, and be creative all while doing so. And we take it very seriously. But this time around we decided to break the rules. How great is our Joey King? For this spring story we took her to the jungle, well actually we brought the jungle to our studio, but that is beyond the point. We also asked our favorite “Disaster Model” Alex Sparrow (UnReal) to come and show us a few of his tricks, and boy did he take us for a ride! We thank you all for supporting our Candice Patton issue. You made her the cover by contacting us on social media for the past 6 months, and we are happy we listened. Make sure to keep interacting with us on @BELLOmag Ciao

THE KISSING BOOTH | NETFLIX

Not everyone can say they had the chance to work with an 80s icon as big as Molly Ringwald, but Joey King most certainly can. In the upcoming NETFILX comedy, The Kissing Booth, Joey got to bond with the legendary actress over several months. "It was incredible. Getting to work on a high school comedy movie with the high school comedy Queen was unimaginable. She was so kind, and everything I had always imagined she would be. Me, her, and some of my other castmates, especially Joel Courtney, we would sit together often and talk, and solve Rubik's Cubes together. It was such a great time."

We go through a lot of trials and tribulations to find that out in Summer '03. The film is so funny and dark and weird, and it's a great, motivational movie to watch."

Joey King has been working as an actor almost her entire life, and the fruits of her hard work are self evident. So what advice would she give to child actors of a similar age as when she first started climbing the Hollywood ladder? "My best advice would be to have fun doing what you love. From studying your craft by watching as many films as possible (which is so valuable), to when you first begin working -- try not to take yourself too seriously. You have to have fun Perhaps it's no coincidence then that Joey's all-time favorite 80s doing what you do. Of course you have to be serious about the work movie is one of Molly Ringwald's biggest hits: Pretty In Pink (1986). "I love Molly and Jon Cryer in that movie, and I feel like Pretty In Pink because you have a job to do, but try not to be too serious about yourself -- if it's not fun you're not going to enjoy it." was one of the first movies to have that great 'underdog wins' storyline that makes it so fun to watch." Right now Joey's biggest goal as an actor is to experiment with as many genres as possible. "There are so many actors, both women Working on The Kissing Booth was a labor of love in more ways and men, whose career choices I admire. I love Jessica Chastain, than one for Joey. Not only did she become friends with Molly, but and of course Jennifer Lawrence, but as much as I want to emulate she also met her new boyfriend on set as well. So was it love at paths such as these, I have to make it my own. I want to be the kind first sight for Joey and her co-star, Jacob Elordi? "Was it love at of person who can do the comedies and the dramas; the movies that first sight? Well, I thought he was very cute when we first met, but are really silly and the serious ones, too. That's what I love about The it started as a friendship. Right away we were talking about gross Kissing Booth -- it's so silly and so funny. I think every actor should things with each other (laughing). But before long I started to do a teen comedy at least once in their lives. And Summer '03, on realize, 'Hey, I think I kind of like this person!' It was such an the other hand, is darker humour. I want to be able to do many interesting experience meeting your boyfriend on set because you spend so much time together and become so close so fast. We were different types of things. I also love action, horror, and drama." spending 17 hours a day together, and all of us would hang out after But of all her upcoming films, the darkest by far is Slender Man. The work and watch movies together and stuff. It was great." highly anticipated horror, based on the disturbing Internet meme that seemingly took over the world, was light years away from the lightThe Kissing Booth tells the story of a high school student who ends heartedness that Joey experienced on set of her other projects. "It up having to confront her secret crush in a kissing booth, so we was very, very creepy [to shoot]. You're in such eerie territory while thought it worth asking her when her first real-life kiss was. As it making these, but I think people are going to love it. We also had a turns out, Joey's long career in Hollywood means her first kiss was lot of bug spray working on it because we were in the woods during of the on-screen variety. "My very first kiss was on a film set with filming." Keegan Allen, in a movie directed by James Franco. Keegan was so sweet and he made me a lot less nervous, but he was nervous, too, because he knew it was my first kiss!" Another of Joey's films coming out soon is the dark comedy Summer '03 in which Joey plays a young woman whose grandmother leaves behind a string of unexpected secrets when she dies. Joey says she was instantly attracted to the project from the moment she got the script. "I remember when I first got the script I couldn't put it down. And the director, Becca Gleason -- well, it was love at first sight. We became best friends immediately, and I could sense her vision for the project immediately. Plus, she's so smart, and has so much drive and motivation. So once we got on set with the entire amazing cast, it was incredible. I can't wait to see how it turns out." One might not typically think of a dark comedy as holding nuggets of wisdom about life, but Summer '03 very well might. "The take home message for sure (and it sounds clichĂŠ, but it's definitely not clichĂŠ in the film) is that family is truly the most important thing in the world.

Working on a film so steeped in urban legend, one wouldn't be surprised if strange things were to happen to the crew. "Nothing strange happened to me during filming Slender Man, but actually when I was filming The Conjuring, something strange did happen," she revealed. "It hasn't happened to me since, but while making that movie I developed a strange blood condition in which I lost thousands of platelets. The doctors said I needed a blood transfusion, but I didn't want to. So before and after filming I had to get my blood tested everyday. And then my platelets slowly started building up on their own. As soon as I got home it was all perfectly fine. It was very strange because nothing like that ever happened to me before or since." For someone who works as hard as Joey does, relaxation time is critical. So what does she consider to be a perfect Sunday? "I would wake up really early, go to the beach, then I would go and buy some fresh-squeezed watermelon juice. Then I'd come home, play with my dogs, and probably watch something like Forgetting Sarah Marshall (laughing). Then I'd probably have dinner with my whole family."

Family, after all, is where Joey gets most of her inspiration. "My mom is so smart and creative, and she's so handy at thinking of projects for the home. My sisters, too, because they're so smart and savvy. And my boyfriend loves to write, and I'm so envious of that. I've always wanted to learn how to write, and he's so great at it. There are so many people in my life who I draw inspiration from."

Summer '03 does not yet have a release date, but The Kissing Booth arrives on NETFLIX May 11th, and Slender Man hits theaters in August 2018.

ALEX SPARROW You are starring on UnREAL. Tell us of the project, your character and how has it been filming on such a hit show? For me, this TV Show is important to me because two years ago I was the “Bachelor” myself, so I know everything about the offscreen backstage life of this project, and of course I heard about UnREAL TV series, too. So when I received in an invitation for the UnREAL casting, I was wildly ecstatic about this chance. Ironically, it was my first role, which I got without anyone meeting me in person. I sent in my self-tape, went on Skype with casting and producers, and that was it! That was amazing. So, I was very lucky to get a chance to work on this great project, and it was an amazing experience for me! I am sure not many people managed to be a bachelor in the reality first, then switching places, becoming a suitor and fight for the heart of a girl in the scripted series “Unreal.” So is was kind of funny - I was the most rebellion Bachelor of all times, constantly doing my own thing and fighting against the editors manipulation, and now I had to be the one of many the girl is goosing from, and obey the script... Talking about my character, Alexi is one of the most difficult characters I have ever portrayed in my acting career, and it’s one of a few I ever played who I cannot relate with. Nearly none of the things he does I have done of have ever experienced in my life, so it was very interesting for me as an actor, and hard not only morally but also physically.

I am very thankful to the Unreal writers team that they made my character as edgy as you’ll see him in the series, were supporting all my crazy ideas about him, and gave me a chance to realize them. Alexi is the most unpredictable character of this season, an explosive and even dangerous guy, charming and full of vices. His heart is broken by a woman whom he still loves and cannot let go. But first of all, he is an artist of insane talent and passion, a man with an incredible inner drama, in the final stage of self-destruction. I think talent is a fire that the Lord gives to a man so that he shares this warmth with others, like Prometheus. And as soon as one ceases to share this fire - he gets burned by it ... This is what happens to my character. He rushes to the cliff at a tremendous speed to either fall or fly ... Tell us of some of the challenges you experienced in breaking into the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. How different is it from the industry back home? I started to perform as a musician age of 6, as young accordionist, wining numerous music contests already back then, long before I even started to sing or act, and I never stopped since. So I spent all my life on stage, and learned that it is the same all other the world - music and art is the most international language which uses energy exchange with the audience and makes no deference who are the people you are making smile and happy with your art, in which part of the world are they, and where are they coming from. As long as you deliver a “real thing” it is winning the hearts all over the place! Who in the industry would you want to work with? I just started to realize my American album, written in collaboration with RedOne, one of the world best music producers, having hits of Lady Gaga, JLo and many others under his belt, and I am very happy about it. But as I am writing and directing lots of music videos for myself and for other artists, I have a very interesting collaboration in mind for this year! My music video, “She’s Crazy But She’s Mine” is about the funny prank couple went viral all over the world. And as I saw that people like it, I have made a “music video series” shooting each video for my new single as a new episode. Now I have a great idea for making a different, but as viral music video series for my American album, and I need a very cool and funny girl for it. So, I'll love to collaborate with one of the American girls-viners, they are great! Have you permanently moved to Los Angeles now or are you living internationally? What are some of the things / experiences you miss from home that you can’t find here in LA? My home is where my work is, and I am working all over the world, so every artist is in a way like a gypsy... I love Los Angeles for the sun, which gives you the good mood every morning and wish to wake up and go outside. Los Angeles is perfect for creative inspiration, for me it has really a very special atmosphere. My life, cities, countries, and even professions are constantly changing, and I have to switch between them very quickly. And shooting and performing in Europe or Canada makes you leave a part of you in each of these places... And - no, I do not miss the snow! We know you are an entertainer in all shapes and forms. Aside from acting, you are a singer. Tell us about your creative process as a singer. Describe your music aesthetic please. Music is a place where I can be myself. Creating music or with microphone on stage I feel the biggest joy, happiness and freedom. When acting I portray other people, not necessary even similar to me, and making music I portray myself. I love 50s vibe, and the music of that period has influenced me a lot - you can hear it in my American album I am starting to release now. I always wrote and produced my own songs, but I started to write symphonic scores 5 years ago, same time I started directing. I used to be torn apart between acting directing and writing music, till I learned how to combine all of it together. Now I white scripts and direct my own music videos and make music for the films where I play as an actor. You are also creating YouTube content – tell us about the type of content you are aiming to create. I like to make people laugh. I made them cry a lot in my dramatic roles, so for my YouTube content I am creating the fun videos, where I can laugh together with my fans. From modeling, to acting, singing, directing, content producer and ice skating, you are quite the decorated entertainer. What is another aspect of your life that you would like to jump into? I want to reach the perfection in each one of jobs I am doing! It is one of the biggest challenges I have ever taken. Describe your style! To describe it in just one word - irresistible! But to be a bit more serious - as I said, I love 50’s vibe, and I am glad this style is back in fashion!

C by Ariel Frankeny IN TODAY’S DAY AND AGE, THE INFLUENCERS RULE. WHERE PRINT ADS AND MAGAZINES USED TO BE KEY, INFLUENCERS ON SOCIAL PLATFORMS SUCH AS INSTAGRAM HAVE NOW TAKEN CENTER STAGE, INFLUENCING CUSTOMERS AND BRANDS THROUGH BEAUTIFUL IMAGES AND STORYLIVING TACTICS. NO MATTER WHAT THE INDUSTRY, COMPANY, OR PRODUCT, THERE’S MORE THAN LIKELY AN INFLUENCER OR TWO WORKING WITH THEM OR HELPING TO PUSH THEIR LIFESTYLE IMAGE ONLINE AND GATHER A LARGER CUSTOMER BASE. BUT WHAT DOES AN INFLUENCER EVEN DO? WE SAT DOWN WITH RISING FASHION STAR CHLOÉ BLEINC TO ASK HER ABOUT HER WHIRLWIND LIFE AND DISCOVER WHAT SHE THINKS MAKES THE INDUSTRY TICK.

What do you think makes someone an “influencer” in today’s world? An influencer is defined by her or his capacity to use their creativity in order to inspire followers. They should be capable of reinventing themselves, follow the current news, and stay available to their followers. You specialize in fashion and similar areas – what do you think makes a successful fashion blogger? Nowadays, Instagram accounts are starting to look more and more like each other. I find it essential to be unique, keeping to your own style with your photos and content. Each person is different and should have their own universe, which is a whole new challenge. What made you initially want to break into the fashion industry? When I was a little girl, my mom had a VOGUE subscription and I used the magazine to make scrapbooks and entire folders full of fashion and beauty advise. I really loved it, so as soon as I was grown up enough to start putting on makeup, I began sharing my tips and advise with the entire world. Luckily, that happened at the same time that social networks were developing and exploding in popularity. Tell me about one of your “WOW” moments in being a professional blogger. Was it an event you attended, someone you met, a gift you received, etc.? My favorite moment so far was my first fashion week – it was the moment when I finally realized what was happening to me and became fully aware of the road I had traveled to get there. Being a fan of fashion since a young age, I became very emotional. If we didn’t have today’s technology, how do you think you would have made an impact on the fashion world? If I hadn’t become an influencer, I probably would hae done a completely different job, something medical like a chiropractor. You have traveled to so many different countries around the world. What was one of the best experiences that you’ve had abroad? One of the best experiences was my trip to Sölden in Austria with www.liketoknow.it. Upon our arrival a helicopter was waiting for us and we flew over the Australian Alps that were covered in snow just to get to our hotel. It was crazy! Different parts of the world have different fashion styles and customs. Can you describe to us your favorite fashion style and the city where you found it? Even though I am French and evidently love Parisian style, I also love those in Italy and London. These women know how to look amazing while staying classy and fun.

J JOSHUA BASSETT CURRENTLY STARRING IN SEASON 3 OF DISNEY'S AMERICAN COMEDY '"STUCK IN THE MIDDLE". BASSETT PLAYS A CHARACTER BY THE NAME OF AIDEN PETERS WHERE VIEWERS CAN WATCH OVER A 9 EPISODE PERIOD. WE HAD A PLEASURE TO CHAT WITH JOSHUA AT OUR BELLO STUDIOS IN LOS ANGELES. Photography ARTHUR GALVAO @artgphoto | Styling TIFFANY YEHUDA @tiffanyehuda

At what age did you begin acting and what made you want to pursue a career in entertainment? I started acting at the age of 7 when my sisters were auditioning for a production of Annie at a local theatre company. I’ve been acting, singing, and dancing non stop since. The ability to do extraordinary things and tell captivating stories is what ultimately made me fall in love with every aspect of it. Who are some actresses you look up to? Have any of them directly influenced your acting career? Bryan Cranston has impacted me immensely. His brilliance on and off camera has changed the way i think about acting, and has shown me how to be professional, go above and beyond, yet remain humble and grateful. Tell us about your character on “Stuck in the Middle”? How is Aiden like you? Different? Aidan wants more than anything to be loved and understood. Growing up without a good relationship with either of his parents, he struggles to be honest with his emotions and himself. resulting in a difficulty connecting with others. I think we can all relate to his desire to be wanted and cherished. It’s important to have empathy when dealing with difficult people, you never really know what people are going through behind the scenes. What’s the biggest challenge about taking on this role? I think the hardest part was acting like a genuine jerk in some scenes. I’d often receive notes telling me to “Be meaner” or “Make us not like you at all” which I think can be hard for any entertainer. Especially when 90% of your job is getting people (i.e. casting agents, producers etc.) to like you. If you could play any other character in this show, who would it be? I think the twins, Lewie and Beast, definitely have the most fun roles. From dressing head to toe in camouflage and hiding in bushes, to jumping in enormous -room sized- ball pits, they were always having a blast on and off screen. What makes a good scene partner? The ability to feed off of each others energy. Most of my scenes were with the lovely Jenna Ortega, and throughout the show we always had great chemistry which made it much more enjoyable, even when we were supposed to “hate” each other in the show. Being able to collaborate and try things without judgement made for a safe space and brought out the best performance in both of us. It’s a team effort. Everyone is there to try and make everyone else look better. If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next? I would 100% want to join the Stranger Things cast. No questions asked.

COUTURE RELEVANCE by Steven carver HAUTE COUTURE IS SAID TO BE A DYING ART. COMPARED TO TODAY’S FAST FASHION, SOME CONSIDER IT TO BE OLD FASHIONED AND OUTDATED (WHO CAN WEAR THAT MANY GOWNS IN A SEASON?). FEWER AND FEWER CUSTOMERS PURCHASE THE EXORBITANTLY-PRICED CLOTHING – WHICH CAN EASILY REACH SIX FIGURES – AND IT ONLY TURNS A PROFIT FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF COUTURE HOUSES. SO, WHY SPEND SO MUCH FOR SO LITTLE IN RETURN?

To start, a couture runway show or presentation is an audiovisual marketing tool that can be used for both present and prospective clients, especially if they’re a celebrity. An image of an actress wearing a gown on a red carpet (i.e. at an awards ceremony) will be photographed and broadcast around the world; priceless promotion. Also, considering the crises the world is currently facing, a little fantasy goes a long way. Touching the fabrics and appreciating the workmanship up close can feel like an extravagant experience. Truth be told, there are a select group of individuals who still want – and sometimes, need – beautiful clothing to wear on a regular basis. With over 30 years of experience in the world of high end fashion, Galia Lahav is aleading designer specializing in lavish formalwear for celebrities and powerful women around the world; an haute couture composer, one gown at a time. Born in Russia into a family of seamstresses, Lahav has had a strong passion for sewing and designing from a young age. Developing an aesthetic from her years teaching art, her move into the world of design was carefully thought out. It was in 1985 that Lahav launched her business of custom-made ivory lace appliqués; the impetus that developed into her eponymous fashion house.

Headquartered in Israel, Tel Aviv, everything is done in-house. From the designing, cutting, sewing and beading; dresses are handmade by top seamstresses using traditional techniques. An average 120 hours of work goes into each dress and approximately 1,000 embroidery designs and 10,000 threads go into creating one final look – the craftsmanship is evident. Along with her collaborator, Sharon Sever, Lahav’s designs are intricate; using illusion backs, cascading silk tulle skirts and Italian ivory lace. There’s a frequent play of color, texture, and finishes. Inspirations for collections have included Grecian goddesses and sexy sirens, with silhouettes ranging from silky and solemn to sheer and sultry. A household name in bridal (and sold in over 40 global stockists), women all over the world are drawn to the brand for its emphasis on special occasion dressing. The experience of slipping on a custom-made gown – seeing how it elegantly drapes on the body, the light capturing the beading, lace concealing and revealing, the chiffon fluttering in the breeze – can leave someone speechless. Recognizing the sparkle in the eye of the wearer is to know that haute couture remains relevant today.

JOEY KING PHOTOGRAPHY ARTHUR GALVAO

If careers are like rocket ships, then Joey King's is in full blast-off mode. Approaching her 19th birthday this July, Joey has an incredible acting career under her belt already, and no less than three huge films coming out soon. In NETFLIX's teen comedy, The Kissing Both, Joey co-stars alongside Molly Ringwald, and in Summer '03 she stars as a young woman whose grandmother leaves behind a mysterious array of secrets after she dies. Joey also stars in the highly anticipated horror film, Slender Man. For her BELLO cover, we had the chance to talk to Joey about her incredible career in Hollywood, her biggest inspirations, and finding love on set.
