Arts, in all of its forms is an expression of love. A complex emotion, expressed in many ways but always telling a story percieved through the kaleidoscope of life and conditions. Buddhists have a simple way to define love which is in contrast to what our western culture wants to teach us: to unselfishly wish others to be happy, without wanting anything in return. François Boucher was a French painter, draughtsman and etcher, who worked in the Rococo style. Boucher is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. With international releases hitting mainstream media more and more often, actors from around the world are becoming more and more recognizable. One of those recognizable faces we hope will be Spanish actor Eric Masip, currently known for his role as Artemis Hidalgo in “Through My Window” (originally titled “A través de mi Ventana”). Bello was lucky enough to catch Eric while he was in Los Angeles, and we managed to conduct both a photoshoot and an interview that impressed us more than what we see on the screen from the talented young actor.

French model and actress Gaia Weiss was born to a French-Polish family on August 30, 1991 in Paris, France. At age three, she took ballet and became an accomplished ballet dancer. Weiss attended the Cours Florent and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and started acting in 1999. Her new “Marie Antoinette” project is airing on Canal + in France (2023 in the USA). We caught up with Gaia while she was in Los Angeles recently, created some fun images, and did a quick interview. Voila!

Is incarnating a historical figure a bigger challenge than a fictional one? Incarnating a historical character is in some ways a bigger challenge because many people will be emotionally attached to it and will have a lot of expectations, and of course, you never want to disappoint. But one of my favorite parts of playing historical characters is all the research prior to shooting. It’s like a time-traveling machine. And the more well-known the character is, the more material you have. Then I go through a sort of merging phase where I use similar traits of character I have to empathize with the figure and become one with it. What traits of Madame de Barry’s personality do you recognize within yourself?
What was your favorite part of working on this project? It’s very difficult to only choose one! Having James Purefoy as one of the main partners was an incredible experience. I learned so much from him. But also working with such an exceptional cast, a wonderfully talented team of people who recreated Versailles, the costumes and style of the 18th century, galloping in the gardens of Vaux le Vicomte, having our very own burning man… Tell us about any other project you are considering or working on now. You’ll see me next year in an American drama entitled Animal within by Agnieszka Lukasiak, and I’m also writing my first TV show inspired by my family’s story.
I think I share Madame du Barry’s strength of character and determination. Noone succeeded in making me change my mind once I had my eyes set on something. But I also learned how to draw strength from my femininity and sensuality with her. To understand how she was going to move, I took dance classes in heels to connect with this side of me.

You may know him as Marcos Diaz AKA Eclipse in The Gifted, as Ben Larson in the dystopian thriller Incorporated oras Prince Louis Conde’ in the CW series Reign. And now, Sean Teale is jumping from one fantasy realm to another, playing Dario in the streaming rom-com, Rosaline. If you weren’t aware yet, Rosaline is a retelling of Romeo & Juliet, from the viewpoint of characters Rosaline & Dario who frankly deserve more attention that the tragic couple we are used to. Bello was lucky enough to grab one of this year’s leading romantic men to speak about his career to date, how he initially auditioned for Romeo and what he has in the works. You’ve had an extensive career as an actor with diversity in both the small and big screen and as well as voiceover work. Is there a type of role you have yet to play? What kind would that be? I feel very fortunate for all of the projects I’ve been involved in over the years, but I suppose more than types of roles I have yet to play, I think about the medium which has been missing is the theatre. Naturally, it was in the theatre at school that this all of started for me, and although I’ve been very lucky to work on the sets I have, I haven’t performed professionally on stage yet. Previously I’ve just wanted to work and the thought hasn’t nagged me much, but that desire is certainly growing. Of course, there’s all sorts of variables that need to line up for that to happen and make sense. As I am sure all readers would know, Rosaline is based on When You Were Mine which is a retelling of a Shakespearian classic, have you explored theatre work? Any wish to take on a Shakespearian role? I think I might’ve preempted your question slightly! I did do the Tempest back in my younger years and I’m certain I butchered it. Other than that, my school studies weren’t Shakespeare extensive to be honest. I gravitated more towards Pinter & Marber pieces, and after school I read a lot of Sam Shepard plays. That’s not to say I wouldn’t love the challenge – without a doubt I would. I read you grew up watching ‘Princess Bride’ and ‘Knight’s Tale’ and ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights and how jumping into this role was a no-brainer. How did you prepare for the role? Yeah I think I’ve mentioned that a few times – so great that I’m going to be associated with Robin Hood: Men in Tights for the foreseeable future. I watched those medieval comedies a lot growing up and they certainly helped give me an understanding for the genre. To be honest, we

changed Dario a bit from what was originally on the page so some of that prep was spent with Kaitlyn and Karen (our director) actually defining him, as well as their relationship. I’m a bit neurotic with my writing so I start a new note book, break things down and do my usual character exercises. Because it’s a period piece – going on historical tours, buying the relevant books on that time period, learning about anything that could influence Dario helped a lot. And then being the sort of soldier/sailor he is there was physical training involved. Ignoring pizza and pasta in Italy of all places is really not a vibe. You auditioned for this role approximately nine years ago. How did your take on this role change in those nine years? I’d completely forgotten it’d happened! Someone reminded me once the press release came out, but it was actually for the role of Romeo all those years ago. I’m very glad it didn’t go well the first time as I can’t see myself playing anything other than Dario and I wouldn’t want to see anyone playing Romeo other than Kyle. The script had been around for a while – everyone knew how great a project it was. It just needed to be the right time and luckily it came back around in a different way. As your character was an original addition, was there anything you brought into the character’s development that wasn’t present in the original script or concept? Karen was great at allowing us to have our own input and influence to the characters and to add to the brilliant work Michael and Scott had done in writing the script already. I won’t get into detail about the specific shifts we made – but it was a lovely collaborative experience and it was so nice to be able to speak candidly and freely with these amazing people who were all aiming at making the best possible choices. Dario needed to tow the line between being strong and sensitive, abrasive and supportive

with Rosaline at the same time and that took some finessing. As Rosaline comes from retelling of an original story, is there any story / movie / franchise you would love to see a retelling of? Adam Sternbergh wrote these amazing sci-fi/noir fiction novels about a character called Spademan that when you read just make you desperate too see them on screen. It’s about this garbage man turned hitman living in New York after it’s flattened by a dirty bomb – I read somewhere that Denzel Washington was attached years ago. Any movies made about this character ‘Spider Jerusalem’ and the mad world of ‘Transmetropolitan’ that Warren Ellis created would be incredible – his mind is something to behold. And I reread ‘Ablutions’ by this incredible author Patrick DeWitt. It’s about a barman’s descent into drink and divorce as he watches his patrons at work. It’s quite heavy stuff but it would be an unbelievable role. Can you share an interesting experience / fun story while shooting “Rosaline”? Interesting character interaction? Dynamic with co-stars? Honestly, we had so much fun the whole time – I mean we spent the summer travelling all over Italy! There was wine tasting in old monastery’s, sailing on lakes, football matches at the Stadio Olimpico, tours of the Coliseum and everything else Rome had to offer. One day trip was special – there’s a town known as the Dying City that’s built on a cliff that’s eroding on all three sides and was unlike anything I’ve seen. I mean we just all got together whenever we could to go do/see/eat new things – it was just great. I challenge you to go out in town with Nico Hiraga and Spencer Stevenson and not have an outrageous time. It’s impossible.

Besides acting, what are some of your passions that you like to venture in when not on set? Sports has played a bit part in my life from an early age and it still does – it’s predominantly football nowadays though. It actually aligns quite well with something I feel at my core I definitively need, which is to travel. To experience news things and new cultures around new people in new places. Work has been kind to me in that regard but it’s also very much a factor in my pursuit of the job in the first place. I’ve picked up the piano again lately which is something I’m really enjoying and quite foolishly gave up on at a younger age. I wouldn’t recommend sitting around and listening though. Regarding upcoming work, what can you tell us about your upcoming role in Palomino? I can’t give away much it seems but I can mention that that name might be changing. I can say that it’s a Netflix show about a British teacher in Spain who’s caught up in some criminal chaos and question begin to arise about who she really is. I played Jordi, her Spanish husband. The show spans several languages which was such an attractive challenge, and having played Americans or Brits quite often is was great to be connecting more with the other half of my life. It’s this great mix of an action/thriller and a family drama so hopefully things turn out well. As you know Bello magazine is a fashion and lifestyle magazine. Can you share with our readers your take on style and fashion sense. I’m venturing further into higher, let’s say edgier fashion admittedly than before but historically I’ve always just been about clean lines and leaner fits. Not too bolshy in colour – blues, greys, black (boring). I’m changing that and I’ve found myself incorporating a lot of greens, purples lately. I wouldn’t tell anyone how to do anything but if I’ve learnt something it’s about the importance of authenticity. Whatever you want to wear, you’ll wear well. Wearing something for the sake of it or the clout won’t work and it’ll wear you. That’s not to say you shouldn’t push the boundaries a bit – definitely do – but maybe do it because you want to and not for some of the other reasons out there.

Bello got the chance to speak with Andrew Kai, most recently known for his role in Elegance Bratton’s “The inspection” as the ever-tormented Ryan Label. “The Inspection” currently holding a solid rating of 88% at Rotten Tomatoes and 90% at Fandango, and with its high marks, this movie is one to watch before the year wraps. If it’s not from “The Inspection” may recognize the handsome actor from other movies and shows like “The Space Between”, “Valley Girl”, and “Atypical”. Andrew was very candid in his interview, and we got to learn what movies he grew up with, what his fashion sense looks like and what passions he has outside of acting. You’ve had an extensive career as an actor with diversity in both the small and big screen. Is there a type of role you have yet to play? What kind would that be? I’m ready to do a sports film. Growing up, sports movies were always such a source of inspiration for me. Remember the Titans, Warrior, Friday Night Lights, Coach Carter, Green Street Hooligans (assuming street fighting is a sport), Any given Sunday, I mean I can go on forever. These movies were monumental in my character development and mental fortitude. They repeatedly told me that there are no limitations to what I am capable of. Quotes like “Once you’ve taken a few punches and realize you’re not made of glass,” “inch by inch,” “our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Quotes like these are burned into my brain. Quotes like these have gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life. These nuggets of inspiration transcend far beyond any field, mat, or court. They are applicable to all parts of our lives. My entire life growing up revolved around sports. My life was school, practice, and competing. My summers I spent in Georgia at wrestling camp. Now when I’m not working I split my time between surfing, snowboarding, jiu jitsu and boxing. So definitely looking forward to working on a role where I can incorporate these disciplines. What draws you to acting? Was it always a career choice? If there is something about the industry that you could change, what would it be?

I love to feel, I love to learn, and I love to experience new things. At my core, that’s what excites me. And anything that allows that to occur for me, I love to do. Acting allows me to do all three of those and so much more. It was not always a career choice. I did some commercial acting, modeling, and a lot of theater when I was a little guy up until about 12 years old and then my life revolved around sports and then I went to the University of San Diego with the intention of becoming a real estate developer. I worked for a year and I started to see how my whole life was going to play out. It scared me. Yes, I had a passion for real estate but the idea of salmon fishing in Alaska also sounded cool or being a wildlife photographer sounded amazing, or being a college wrestling coach sounded interesting as well. My personality craves constant change, so after some soul searching I decided I would reignite my younger passion for acting and try to live as many lives as possible through the characters I would play. I headed to LA and here we are. I absolutely love movies and television. They help us escape from our reality, they invigorate our imagination, they help us relate to the world, and open our eyes to worlds and lives we would never have experienced otherwise. I used to love award shows for film and television. I would look forward to watching the Oscars as a kid, it was an event in my household. It felt like it was truly a celebration of cinema. However, now award shows feel like they are more of a platform for artists to preach their socio political beliefs than an appreciation for the dedication to art and film. I

applaud those who feel a desire to have a positive effect on this world and advocate change. However, I would like to keep award shows about film and keep socio political agendas out of it. THE INSPECTION is based on the life story of director Elegance Bratton. Prior to shooting, how aware of Elegance Bratton’s story were you? What did you research in auditioning? I had no idea that the script was based on Elegance’s life until I was already on location in Mississippi. We had two weeks of bootcamp before we started shooting and in that time I shared a lot of moments with Elegance who is one of the warmest and kindest people I’ve ever met. He was more than willing to open his heart with us and share the most intimate stories about his life. From there I made it my goal to tell his story to the best of my ability. Tell us about your character Label. How did you create the character and bring him to life? What kind of advice did Bratton provide in bringing Label to life? Ryan Label is an extremely tormented kid. Although he is first seen in the film with hair down to his shoulders, wearing a nirvana t-shirt, and seemingly not a care in the world, he is actually battling a lot of demons internally. He enters bootcamp with the intention of keeping to himself and being a loner by choice but ends up becoming the voice of morality in the film as he witnesses the wrongs done to French and Ismael. As Ryan stands up for Ismael and French when no one else would, he starts to step into his own power for the first time in

his life and in the process learns to love himself.

I would love to make a film that is over the course of age 11 to 27 about our friendship and how we’ve managed it.

Currently, the film is being labeled as a possible Oscar contender. In your words, why do you think this film deserves an Oscar? First off, to be part of this film that is being so well received is a dream come true. To be a part of art that leaves such a moving impression and inspires goodness and love is such a gift. This story and its truth is enough to bring someone to tears and want to immediately call the people they love to remind them they are. And that’s just the story. Elegances execution in his filmmaking elevate it to another level that is so specific and unique. For the first time film is seeing bootcamp, something film is no stranger to, in a completely original and personal lens. Cinematically It is a masterpiece shot by an actual movie wizard, Lachlan Milne. The actors in this film are so talented but that’s not the part that is special. The part that’s special is how passionate every single actor was in telling Elegance’s story. We knew we had a very very important responsibility to share Elegance’s story and everyone was on board to pour their heart into it. It wasn’t easy. Days were hard and the Mississippi weather was not easy on us. But we gave this story to all of us. This movie is a product of immense love and incomparable dedication and although we are all very humbled to be spoken so highly of, we knew this one was a special one. There was this unspoken magic

that was being created that touched us so deeply and knew it would resonate in a special way with the world. Besides acting, what are some of your passions that you like to venture in when not on set? My passions change by the month but right now I’m really into breath work. I’m a big ice bath guy and have been experimenting with different types of breath work to add into my routine of cold plunging. Winter is upon us so that means its snowboard season which I’m absolutely stoked for. I wasn’t able to get out on the mountain too much last year, but this year I plan on going every weekend I’m free. I’m big into jiu jitsu, I hop around different jiu jitsu gyms a lot but coming from a wrestling background I have such a blast getting on the mat. I’ve been writing a lot of poetry. Simple poetry, nothing too crazy but if I’m feeling something strongly I will put it into a few lines of verse in my notes. I think In a few years I’ll make a book of all my poems accompanied by some film photos I take. The book might just be for me but I think I’d like to have it in a book format.
As you know Bello magazine is a fashion and lifestyle magazine. Can you share with our readers your take on style and fashion sense. I love fashion. I think it’s such a fun way to step into a feeling or persona or just simply express yourself. My personal style changes daily. I dress the way I want to feel that day. If I want to feel a little tough or have a don’t give a fu** attitude I wear a baggy t-shirt inside out, a pair of baggy jeans, and some combat boots. If I’m feeling easy and fun loving I throw on a very open linen Hawaiian shirt and some good light blue levis and flip flops. When I wear that outfit, life is easy and life is good. I love bracelets and rings. I’ll paint my nails occasionally. I just bleached my hair yesterday so I’m currently a blonde boy. Yea it’s a tough question. Right now I’m wearing my dad’s vintage flannel and his baggy corduroy pants with checkered socks. I guess I stole a lot of my dad’s clothes. I am in New York right now and am very excited to get some thrift shopping in Brooklyn this week. Hopefully we have some good finds.
