For the first and third experiment we chose to set ourselves up on Beach Road (Beaconsfield Parade). The main reason that we were here was because running parallel with the road was a cycling path. This path was frequented by many people be it cycling, running, jogging or just enjoying a walk. Due to this bike path stretching for a great distance around the bay it is perfect for cyclists travelling to and from the city at all times of day. Though most cyclists that were serious Beach Road, St Kilda about riding would ride on the road we were hoping that because we were near streetlights we might be able to catch them. During These experiments where were hoping to get attract the attention of a few different demographics. One was of course the cyclists commuting to the city and back again. Another was cyclists out for a leisurely ride because when not in a rush people (we were hoping) would be more inclined to stop. We were also interested on getting the feedback from people walking because at some stage they would have interacted or ridden a bike themselves. Basically we were hoping for a variety of people to talk too and discuss the project.

The second experiment that was carried out was on St Kilda Road right next to the shrine of remembrance. The reason for this choice was because that St Kilda road is another place that is known for its high volume of cycling traffic partially due to the fact that St Kilda Road is one of the main roads into the CBD. While on the road there is a designated bike lane people also ride on the footpath as its wider then usual. The footpath down here has also become favorable with the new bike share system that has been implemented all over the CBD as St Kilda road the bikes are more for cruising and enjoying the ride. The spot we had picked was out in the open so that we were visible to everyone from quite a distance away. Meaning that after the saw all the chalk writing they could easily spot us. During the experiment we were hoping for (like on Beach Road) people commuting to and from the CBD be it for work, uni or just because they can. The main aim was to attract the attention of business workers travelling by bike because we anticipated that St Kilda Road would have a much higher number then the previous experiment because it was so close to the CBD.

So for the forth and final experiment the location was chosen as the Upfield Bike Path. The reason for this was simple, we had heard how this bike path was an extremely busy route to and from the city with many cyclists going back and forth on the narrow path. Being that the path was by far the narrowest bike path to frequently each morning have a constant stream of cycling communists. It was hard for us to find a suitable place for our set up as we didn’t want to interrupt the cyclists due to the lack of room. Upfield Bike path We ended up setting up in Michael St just off to the side of the bike path. There we were able to organise ourselves away from the cyclists. Our targets where the same as the other experiments though there perception of commuting will be greatly different due to the size of the path. Our hopes were that we talk commuters about the congestion of the Upfield bike path.
