Tips for Raising Sponsorship Money Please always keep in mind that you are raising funds to help poor people in Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Asia, the Mekong and Africa. Through Oxfam, you can help them to help themselves. Here are some suggestions to help your team raise funds for the event: 1. Set a target for yourself and your team. 2. Create a Fundraising Team Page on the Oxfam Trailwalker website. We recommend using Internet Explorer 7.0 or Firefox 3.5 to process online donations. (Using other versions or other browsers may cause system malfunction or information lost.) 3. Share your news about your participation in Oxfam Trailwalker on Facebook, Twitter, Sina microblog and other social networking websites. Call in person or send a letter to everyone you know via email or post, to appeal for donations. Contact old schoolmates, ex-colleagues, old friends or relatives (this might even rekindle some forgotten friendships!). 4. Keep the Sponsorship Folder with you at all times. Remember to sign up everyone you meet and show them how their donations will help poor people. 5. Announce your participation in Oxfam Trailwalker on all occasions (eg. birthday parties, gatherings and so on), and invite people to sponsor you. 6. Organise activities such as "Enjoy a dinner with Oxfam Trailwalkers" to help raise funds. 7. Display the event poster in your office; tell everyone you are an Oxfam Trailwalker and raising funds for Oxfam. 8. Invite sponsors to donate an extra amount if you finish within a certain period of time, or break your record. 9. Draw a chart to fill in as you get closer to your sponsorship target. This provides motivation. Competition among team members can also be inspiring! 10. Buy some Oxfam Trailwalker T-shirts or other souvenirs as prizes for your top sponsors. 11. Tell your friends that Oxfam Trailwalker is an endurance challenge. The more they sponsor, the more encouragement you will have to finish the trail. 12. Oxfam Hong Kong will produce an Oxfam Trailwalker powerpoint to help you raise funds. You can download it from the Oxfam Trailwalker website from September onwards.
