35 welcome note Hi everyone and welcome to our 5th edition of PakMag, our Easter Holiday Eggstravaganza! We hope you are all ready for a fun-filled holiday edition to give you inspiration and to keep the kids busy for our first break for the year! (Where did the time go?) We hope to see you all at our Easter Egg Hunt at Northshore on the 2 April and the winners the following day at our exclusive preview screening of HOP. Easter always brings back fond memories for me as a child, as Dad would always have some sort of camping adventure planned. We would end up in the middle of nowhere with lots of activities like bushwalking and waterholes to uncover along our way. Then at night we’d sit around the fire and just talk about anything and everything. Of course all the chocolate was another highlight and the only time we don’t feel guilty about having just one more!!! Until next time, Happy Easter and happy reading, don’t forget to tell everyone you read it in PakMag.

I have listened over seemingly endless cups of tea as capable and talented women tell tales of the abject terror, loss of direction and lack of confidence all keeping them from fulfilling their career potential. As I pour the tea, they pour over their résumés figuring out how to plug the glaring gaps left by maternity leave (which, by the way, you don’t have to do because it’s perfectly ok to say you took time out to raise your family). As with any major project, success is much more likely if you put some time in to creating a well thought out plan. Before you even start printing off your old résumés and dry cleaning your interview suit, stop. Much time, frustration and rejection will be saved by thinking through your plan, getting some retraining if necessary and working out how you will juggle your new work and family life. Answer the following questions to form the basis of your plan. [1] How much time do you have to offer? Before you became a parent you may have worked full-time and jumped at any opportunity to work overtime, but as a working parent, childcare is your biggest consideration so you need to be realistic about what time you can physically commit to an employer. The worse outcome for you, your
