31 publishers note Hello and welcome to the 44th edition of PakMag. This month, inspired by the pregnancy of two PakMag team members, we’ve decided to create a ‘Bean to Bub’ Guide. Our lovely designer Trina is 32 weeks pregnant with number 2, and yes, you guessed it, I am also 17 weeks. For those who are good at maths, yep, it’s a wedding/ honeymoon baby! It’s taken me a little while to adjust to the idea since it was a ‘surprise’ that I wasn’t planning until next year but hey, I always love adding more to my plate and making life interesting. Jordan is loving the idea and gets very excited when he see’s a baby on TV and bashes my tummy saying ‘baby-baby’ (why are boys so rough?!) It’s going to be interesting juggling two kids, two mags, and two other businesses but apparently women can do it all!

We’re also starting a new series this month called ‘Wardrone Wake Up’ with local personal stylist Gerlinda Aras. We’ve given her a brief to makeover some daggy mums and I was the first guinea pig. We’ve had a few entries in our competition for a makeover so a few of our readers will also be getting a much needed ‘wake up’ in the wardrobe department! Until next time, I hope you enjoy this edition and don’t forget to tell everyone, you read it in PakMag.

Once a child has developed Plantar Warts, they will then take it home with them, unknowingly, and share it with the rest of the family.

I would assume that most of the time spent at school is spent on hard surfaces, and very little amount of time on soft ground, such as grass. Our feet were not designed to put up with hard surfaces and long term it will cause problems in their feet and lower limbs.

Was there a blackout a few months ago that I missed?! Everyone seems to be expecting. As wonderful as this is, for me it only reiterates my desire to NOT to join them. It may sound harsh but I am well and truly done and dusted in that department! The prospect of another few years of having my sleep rudely interrupted at all hours, the endless nappy changes and the hours of having a little limpet stuck to my chest for feeds just does not sound the least bit appealing any more. Don’t get me wrong, I was more than happy to do it the first time around and still happy, but slightly less enthusiastic the second time around, but I huddle in fear at the thought of a third. And that’s not even taking into account the horrors of pregnancy and existing on salt and vinegar crisps and lemon squash because that’s all I could keep down. No thank you, enough is enough. But best of luck to all those expecting, I hope you manage to glow through the whole nine months and look forward to swapping war stories soon!

Valentines dinners & roses may not be on the agenda for many parents but it’s a good excuse to plan a romantic weekend away without the kids, writes Brenda Campbell The Far North has something for everyone in the “Romantic Getaways” stakes with romantic hotspots everywhere you turn. Potts, one half of the Sea FM morning crew, continues his chronicles of first time fatherhood There are two types of air travelers, those with kids and those without. Whilst checking in at Cairns airport recently we encountered a nonparent who wasn’t very impressed with Noah’s activity and noise level. The lady behind us asked “You’re not going to Perth are you?” and then let out a huge groan when she realised we were on the same flight! Unfortunately we didn’t get to sit next to her. Noah obviously didn’t want to stand quietly in line, he wanted to explore, and other parents would know this and sympathise with the probable 5 hours of hell we had ahead of us. Although we had tried to make life easier by booking an evening flight so Noah would hopefully sleep through most of it. That obviously didn’t happen. He slept for 20 minutes and the rest of the time we tried to entertain him with DVD’s (fail), food (fail), alcohol… And, if you think that’s bad, how about dealing with a gastro baby on the return flight? We knew we were in trouble when Noah spent most of the previous night throwing up. None of us got any sleep and by 6.30am Kylie was also throwing up. Our flight was leaving at 10am!

WHEN: Mon-Fri 9am-10am Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 10am-11am COST: $10 per class (There is also a $40 annual registration fee)

So, being the only non-sick person, I end up packing all the bags and cleaning up the spew. I’m happy to report that the flight back to Cairns was relatively incident-free apart from one small piece of banana thrown up on my shirt and a smelly gastro nappy about 10 minutes before landing. A quick clean up in the airport toilets and the end to a long day was in sight. I’m happy to report that Noah and Kylie soon recovered but I caught the bug two days later. Can’t wait for our next family holiday!
