I have a lot of people to thank for making it to the 3-year mark including my exceptional team. It has been a huge learning curve launching and running a magazine and looking back now to our first edition I can’t believe how far we’ve come. We’ve learnt so much and we’re still excited about continuing to improve the magazine and make it even better for you, our readers. I must also thank our advertisers for their support – without them this magazine wouldn’t happen. And, probably the biggest thanks must go to Trent and Jordan for their patience, love and support when I’m working late in to the night. I am very lucky to have all of you. Come and help us celebrate with a piece of cake at our next PakClub on the 6th.June or at our Teddy Bears Picnic on the 27th June. Enjoy this edition, keep reading and don’t forget to tell everyone…you read it in PakMag.

fortunate in that my mum threw birthday parties for her children almost every year, but they were never extravagant. A home-made cake (thanks to Women’s Weekly), fairy bread, cheerios, bowl of chips, red cordial and lollies in a bag was about the extent of expenses. The party itself was just one backyard game after the next. We loved three-legged races, egg and spoon races, pin the tail on the donkey, limbo, musical chairs and pass the parcel wrapped in newspaper (or pass the balloon with the lolly inside). Pass the Parcel Story thanks to Amanda Cranston
pass the parcel Pass the parcel has been around for years and still brings joy to children today. Over the years many new variations of the game have been adapted and all of them are fun depending on the occasion. ‘Only One Winner’ Pass the Parcel: This is the traditional version where only one gift is wrapped in many layers of newspaper and guests sit in a circle and pass the parcel around. When the music stops whoever is holding the parcel gets to unwrap a layer of newspaper, but the only winner is the person who unwraps the final layer of newspaper. The ‘Gift In Each Wrapper’ Pass the Parcel: Many party organisers prefer to include a small gift in each wrapper so each person who unwraps a layer of newspaper during the game wins something. Small gifts for each layer can be lollypops, stickers, twirly straws or some other small party favour. However, the party guest who unwraps the final layer of newspaper wins something a little more significant that the items in each other layer.
singing a nursery rhyme, putting on a hat and scarf, shaking hands with everyone in the circle, playing the rest of the game with one hand behind their back, putting lipstick on, making farm or zoo animal noises, whistling or running round the circle twice. The older the children the more challenging the forfeits can be. The ‘Get To Know You’ Pass the Parcel: This pass the parcel isn’t played to music, instead each wrapper has a question so guests can get to know each other and then decide amongst themselves who gets to unwrap that layer. Questions can include Who has the longest name? Who has the most brothers and sisters? Or Who has the funniest middle name? This version is more suited to kids aged eight or over.
Trivia Pass the Parcel: This is a good one for slightly older kids and is a good one for filling time. Questions obviously need to be age-appropriate, but they can be on any topic such as nursery rhymes, sport, music or television shows. Examples of questions could be; Goldilocks visited how many bears? What was Hansel’s sister’s name? What did Humpty Dumpty fall off? How many stepsisters did Cinderella have? Charades Pass the Parcel: This pass the parcel has an action or person written on a piece of paper between each layer. The party host can start by acting out the first charade and the person who guesses the answer correctly gets to unwrap the next layer. The game continues this way until

trouble understanding why they can’t unwrap every layer and why they haven’t won a prize. A small gift in each wrapper means each toddler wins a prize. The Forfeits or Dares Pass the Parcel: Including a forfeit or dare in each wrapper can be fun, as long as the action to be performed isn’t embarrassing or makes party guests feel uncomfortable. question about the party host and the guest who answers the question correctly first, gets to unwrap that layer and so on. Questions can be about a sport the host plays, something unusual they collect, their favourite hangout, their favourite song or book, etc. This particular pass the parcel works best for smaller parties where all guests are close

daddy diary 14 Potts, one half of the Sea FM morning crew, continues his chronicles of first time fatherhood Well it’s finally happened. The thing I’d been dreading most and other parents had warned me about. TEETHING! Our little angel no longer sleeps through the night, the first screams start around 11pm. Luckily for me the wife gets up to look after him but it stills wakes everyone in the house and maybe even the street with his screaming.

Hilarious new Comedy Get Him to the Greek reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand with Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller in the story of a record company intern with two days to drag an uncooperative rock legend to Hollywood for a comeback concert. The comedy is the latest film from producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People).
‘We feed our chooks kitchen scraps to reduce the waste we send to the landfill. My kids love them and they’re great for the environment.’
Aaron Greenberg (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.’s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril.

British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is a brilliant musician. Weary of “yes” men and with piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have a bit of fun while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back… right before kick-starting his world domination.
All the tell-tale signs were there - dribbling saliva, grabbing his ears, me booking a trip to Melbourne. There really isn’t much we could do for him besides Kids Panadol and Hyland’s teething tablets. This week we’ve got a double whammy, the top front two teeth (try saying that without teeth) are coming through at the same time. This should take his teeth tally up to 4. As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smugglers, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dancers to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.
