Cairns Regional Council has launched a new program to help local kids discover the natural wonders of the tropics. Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bar By Bianca Johns (PakMAG Promotions) Ingredients • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar • 1 cup self raising flour • 1/4 tsp baking powder • Pinch of salt • 1 cup of rolled oats • 1/2 cup of butter softened • 3 cups of frozen raspberries • 1/3 cup of sugar

Preheat oven to 175oC. Grease a square pan or line with baking paper. Combine brown sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and rolled oats. Rub in the butter with your hands to form a crumbly mixture. Press 2 cups of the mixture into the bottom of the pan. On the stove heat 3 cups of frozen or fresh raspberries with 1/3 cup of sugar until it forms a beautiful raspberry sauce. Pour the raspberries over the oats mixture that is already in the pan. Making sure it covers the oats. Then sprinkle the rest of the crumb mixture over the top of the raspberries and lightly press down. Bake for 35-40min in the oven, or until brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Pregnancy and the first year after the baby’s birth (the Perinatal period) can be a positive and beautiful experience but it is also one of the most significant life events people experience, writes Michelle Bell. Expecting a baby, giving birth and becoming

Many young people think that ‘sexting’ (a mix of ‘sex’ and ‘texting’) is innocent flirting but there are legal implications to sexting that they may not be aware of. Some young girls make the mistake of sending nude, semi-nude or sexy pictures of themselves to boys who flatter them by saying, “they want to see more of them because they are so beautiful.” However, these boys may not be aware that they are actually committing a criminal offence if they keep indecent images of people under the age of 18 on their phones. In fact, they could be charged with child pornography and the police may seize and
