NEWS AND UPDATES COVID MASKING POLICY:
Anyone entering any Palatine Park District facility is required to wear a face covering, regardless of vaccination status. Fitness Center members must wear a face covering while working out.
FITNESS CENTER MEMBERS,
Welcome to the Community Fitness Center Newsletter! Since this is my first newsletter, I want to take the time and introduce myself. My name is Alec Owens, and I am the new manager of the Fitness Center. I have been a Palatine resident my entire life. I have worked for the Palatine Park District for about 12 years. This new position is super exciting for me, and I can’t wait to continue serving the Palatine Community! My goal is to ensure the Community Fitness Center continues to be a great place to work out!
WIPING DOWN MACHINES:
Every member should wipe down equipment after each use. This allows for a cleaner workout environment. Fitness Center staff wipes down equipment throughout the day.
COLD WEATHER REMINDERS: Questions? Contact Alec Owens, Assistant Facilities Manager at 847.496.6228 or aowens@palatineparks.org.
Remember to bring a change of shoes while coming to the fitness center during the winter months. The Fitness Center has cubby-holes and shoe trays to store wet boots/shoes. We want to keep the equipment free of salt to the best of our ability.
NEW FITNESS EQUIPMENT
The Fitness Center purchased 7 brand new treadmills from Matrix Fitness! They were installed on November 8. Try them out! Expected in Early 2022, the Fitness Center will be getting a New Functional Trainer and Ab/Low Back Machine. Looking forward to getting new equipment for the Fitness Center in 2022!
STRETCHING ROOM
To accommodate equipment getting moved back into the Fitness Center’s footprint, we needed some additional space for extra equipment. The office in the stretching room was vacated and the adjoining wall was removed. Giving the stretching room extra space to put 6 pieces of equipment. Currently there is an Elliptical, Rowing machine, Stair Stepper, Recumbent bike, Upright bike and a Spin bike in the space created by removing the office.
FITNESS OPEN HOUSE
The Fitness Center is hosting an Open House to the public on December 11th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Stop by for membership specials and giveaways!
NEW PARK DISTRICT MOBILE APP FEATURE:
Members can now add their key fob to the Park District’s mobile app. There is a barcode scanner feature that allows users to take a picture of their key fob and save it to their mobile app account. Don’t worry about forgetting your key fob again!

TIPS FOR WORKING OUT WITH A FACE COVERING ON:
1. Cloth masks or masks made with a moisture-wicking material are popular when exercising. Allows for the most comfort. 2. Consider having a spare mask. If your mask becomes damp and uncomfortable, you can then switch to a clean, dry mask.
