Palatine Stables Barn Buzz Indoor Washrack

The completion of the Indoor Washrack is very near and the new indoor washracks will be in use by the time the colder weather is upon us this upcoming winter. The washracks have been a long awaited improvement to the Palatine Stables and we all look forward to making use of them this winter.

Pony Rides

The renovation of Arena #2 was completed this summer. The renovation project that included expanding the width of the existing arena, renovating the base and footing and installing new 2-rail PVC perimeter fencing has greatly improved the visual aesthetics of the property. It has also enhanced its usefulness for Riding School lessons and as an annex arena for NIHJA and ISC Association Horse Shows hosted by the Palatine Stables, and providing additional riding space for our boarders. The project also included an enhanced spectator viewing area complete with a shade canopy. To offset the cost of this project Palatine Stable Manager Toni Bruns applied for and received a grant in the amount of $8500 from the Illinois Equine Industry Research and Promotion Board. The renovation was a Park District Capital Improvement Project.

NWSRA Pursuit Program

Come on over to the pony barn where a parent or adult can lead their child on a pony around our pony path. The fee is $7 per ride, or $20 for a half hour pony rental. Bring your camera because kids on ponies make for the best pictures!

NWSRA Pursuit Program returned to the Palatine Stable in September to continue their Volunteer Stewardship Program at the Stable. Pursuit is an adult day program for adults with disabilities that provides opportunities for continued growth with hope of gaining vocational skills through volunteer experiences. Participants visit the Stable once a month September through May and have provided volunteer time grooming horses, cleaning viewing windows, dusting the lobby and cleaning and sanitizing riding school helmets.

Pony rides are for children under 4’ 6” in height between the ages of 1 and 10. Parent or adult supervision is required. The indoor arena will be used during the winter months.
