THE 30TH ANNUAL LA ART SHOW

THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART SHOW IN AMERICA

Los Angeles has emerged as a global epicenter of art & culture, with a distinct, interwoven multi-cultural influence unique to the city. Diversity is our strength and art is most impactful when it includes or transcends all borders. As LA rises as the world-class destination for art, the LA Art Show continues to lead the way with innovative programming and oneof-a-kind experiences for an expanding collecting audience.

The LA Art Show is an unparalleled international art experience with over 90 galleries, museums, and non-profit organizations from around the world exhibiting painting, sculpture, works on paper, installation, photography, design, video and performance. All works presented by galleries are available for your purchasing pleasure.

More than 180,000 square feet of exhibition space is committed to today’s prominent galleries. These domestic and international galleries, beyond their booths, curate special exhibits that are at the forefront of the burgeoning contemporary art movement. The fair offers an extraordinary array of works and experiences in specialized sections.

PALM BEACH SHOW GROUP

Dear Friends,

Whether you are a seasoned collector or merely an admirer of the arts, we are certain that the LA Art Show will provide you with a special experience in the world of Modern and Contemporary Art. We have created the most diverse art show in the world.

We strive towards making the LA Art Show a premier international arts destination, in the likes of Art Basel, Frieze, and The Armory Show.

Art has always been at the forefront of society, bravely going where others feared to tread, whether it was the use of color, texture, composition, or materials, artists have always pushed the envelope.

It takes a discerning eye and measure of courage to embrace and appreciate the new and the different and today’s collectors are a brave and appreciative crowd.

A show of this magnitude requires coordinated efforts from a myriad of people, and I wish to thank my entire team, especially Kassandra Voyagis, whose dedication and hard work made this show possible. I am grateful to all our new participants and to the many great galleries that return each year and travel here so that we may enjoy their spectacular works of art.

The LA Art Show is proud to serve as a vehicle for today’s galleries to showcase their artists. Our guests are provided the opportunity to enjoy a unique assortment of creative expression from all corners of the globe.

I am proud to welcome you to the 30th edition of the LA Art Show and to celebrate the fertile efforts of the human mind.

Enjoy the Show!

Welcome to LA Art Show 2025!

For our 30th anniversary edition, we return once again supported by some of our longtime exhibitors while welcoming many more who are new to our show.

It has been a rocky start to the year as our beloved city faced unprecedented devastation and loss from multiple wildfires. We have suffered and endured much as we continue to recover and navigate the rebuilding of entire neighborhoods.

The LA Art Show is the oldest and longest running art fair in Los Angeles, and we stand with all Angelenos by staying resilient in the face of adversity. As such, we made the decision to proceed with the show as planned this February in support of all those vested in the show - galleries, museums, artists, hotels, restaurants and local businesses associated with an international show of this magnitude. Los Angeles is home to our show, and we are deeply rooted in the city that has always supported us for 30 years.

We recognize art’s unique power to heal and unite communities, and we are committed to working alongside Los Angeles residents as we rebuild and recover together. The LA Art Show continues to serve as a platform for creativity and connection, contributing to the resilience and renewal of our city’s artistic ecosystem.

Words cannot adequately express my heartfelt appreciation for the support of all the exhibitors in the show, many having to grapple with personal loss while making tremendous financial and personal sacrifices to participate. Yet, we have all come together with a common spirit as we welcome more than 90 exhibiting galleries and museums from North and South America, Asia and Europe.

Our show has always been about community and inclusivity, and we strive to be a force for all that is progressive and positive. As the most comprehensive art fair on the West Coast, we have always presented one of the most diverse and engaging programs in the world.

In my role as Producer and Director of the show, I take nothing for granted. I remain grateful to every member of our team, working tirelessly and graciously under pressure, especially Marisa Caichiolo, Katrina Fernandez, Jinn Ong, Naso Kavourinos, and Wuang-Ee Blum, for their unwavering dedication and passion. Their optimism for what is possible, and their faith in my leadership, continue to be an inspiration. I am happy to share the culmination of our collective hard work as we look ahead.

Enjoy the show!

BENEFITING THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION’S LIFE IS WHY™ CAMPAIGN

JENNA DEWAN

Actress and producer 2025 OFFICIAL HOST:

FEBRUARY 19 | 6-10PM

THE LA ART SHOW & FRIENDS OF THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION INVITE YOU TO JOIN AN EVENING BENEFITING THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION’S LIFE IS WHY™ CAMPAIGN FEATURING: ART, PERFORMANCE ART, MUSIC, BEVERAGES & DELICIOUS HORS D’OEUVRES FROM SELECT LA RESTAURANTS.

Past LA Art Show hosts from left to right: Lucy Hale (2024),Ashley Tisdale (2023), Kaia Gerber (2022), Rita Ora (2021), Sofia Vergara (2020), Kate Beckinsale (2019), Art Ambassador Gavin Rossdale (2019), Jon Hamm (2018), Emma Roberts (2017), Anne Hathaway & Adam Shulman (2016), Amy Adams (2015)

About the American Heart Association:

The American Heart Association is a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. We are dedicated to ensuring equitable health in all communities.

Founded in 1924 by six cardiologists, our organization is grounded in the belief that scientific research leads the way to better treatment, prevention and – ultimately – a cure for these leading causes of death and disability. The AHA is proud to be the leading nonprofit funding cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease research. Bold investments have led to significant medical advancements including the first artificial heart valve, implantable pacemakers, cholesterol lowering medications and techniques for CPR.

For 100 years, the American Heart Association (AHA) has saved and improved lives, pioneered scientific discovery, and advocated for healthy public policies in communities across the country. These bold moves have helped transform our nation’s health and significantly reduce heart disease and stroke death rates. However, those gains have not been shared equitably. Black, Hispanic, Native American, Asian and LGBTQ people have suffered and died disproportionately. So have people in underresourced communities all over the country. These longtime disparities were magnified, and even worsened, by the COVID-19 pandemic. With overall death rates actually rising in recent years, we face a global health crisis that threatens us all. But the American Heart Association stands ready. Success over a century has prepared us for this moment.

And the American Heart Association is just getting started. The Centennial Celebration is harnessing our historic success to fuel our relentless pursuit of equitable health for all into the AHA Second Century. Through collaboration with numerous organizations, and powered by millions of volunteers, we fund innovative research, advocate for the public’s health and share lifesaving resources.

DIVERSEartLA is a special programming section devoted to nurturing the creative energy of international collectors, artists, curators, museums and non-profits by connecting them directly with audiences in Los Angeles. The LA Art Show donates 50,000 square feet of exhibition space to participating organizations each year as our civic engagement, and the featured work is not for sale. DIVERSEartLA is curated by Marisa Caichiolo with individual curators from institutions around the world.

LA

A Celebration of Community

DIVERSEartLA is a curated, non-commercial platform dedicated to community engagement, fostering meaningful connections among museums, art institutions, nonprofit organizations, and the broader public attending the Art Fair.

Formally established in 2017, DIVERSEartLA emerged from years of programmatic efforts at the fair, focusing on non commercial area for performances and installations. Recognizing the importance of this curated section, we have enhanced connections with the general public, local and international arts institutions, artists, and media. Our goal is deeply rooted in promoting collaboration and dialogue within the art community, ensuring that diverse voices and narratives are acknowledged, celebrated, and resonate.

As the curator of DIVERSEartLA for the past eight years, I have sought to illuminate the multifaceted perspectives of social and political artworks that reflect the pressing issues of our time.

It is with great honor that I announce the 2025 DIVERSEartLA Retrospective—a landmark curatorial project commemorating the 30th anniversary of the LA Art Show. This retrospective will serve as a comprehensive survey of DIVERSEartLA’s remarkable journey over the years, in collaboration with some of the most prestigious museums and art institutions, both local and international. Notable partners include The Broad, LACMA, MOLAA, the Nevada Art Museum, the MUSA Museum of Art, and the UCLA Chicano Research Institute, among many others.

The exhibition will feature thoughtfully curated installations, an extensive catalog, and a grand timeline meticulously showcasing the diverse projects undertaken by our affiliated museums and arts institutions. Each piece will not only spotlight artistic endeavors but also reflect the collaborative spirit that defines DIVERSEartLA. By presenting a strong body of works, performances, and installations, this retrospective will encapsulate our platform’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and innovation.

This exhibition transcends mere celebration; it represents a critical inquiry into the impact DIVERSEartLA has had within the broader art community. It honors the creative contributions of our partners and highlights the vibrant evolution of DIVERSEartLA as an indispensable presence in the cultural landscape.

By emphasizing the dynamic interplay between various artistic expressions and community engagement, we aspire to inspire future generations of artists, curators, and art enthusiasts.

We warmly invite all to join us in this celebration—not only to reflect on our past but also to envision the future of community-driven art initiatives.

More than never before, because of the current situation in the world, we can cultivate together a rich cultural dialogue that empowers diverse voices and fosters a more inclusive art world, ensuring that the transformative power of art continues to resonate across communities.

Through this retrospective, we reaffirm our commitment to shaping a future where art acts as a bridge, connecting individuals and communities in profound and meaningful ways.

“LEFT” OR “RIGHT” | PUNCHING BAGS

Left or Right is a healing project curated by Marisa Caichiolo. The interactive installation depicts different world leaders and tyrants, and will allow the spectator, through the punching of the bags, to release anger, hatred and resentment. This release of negative emotions will transform these objects into tools of detoxification and mental healing.

Current global politics has created an environment of disrespect for humanity and our planet. Lack of harmony, senseless war, violence, racism, ignorance, loss of values and principles, lack of consciousness, super egos and demagoguery, corruption, disrespect of women, false promises, and outright lies.

27 PECES | 27 FISH

Presented by the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA). The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) selected Argentinian artist Cristian Castro and his sitespecific installation, 27 Peces / 27 Fish, 2018, to highlight the contemporary art of Latin America in the 2019 edition of the Los Angeles Art Show. Cristian Castro, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1971 and currently based in Los Angeles, expresses his artistic talent by repurposing discarded vintage household appliances and mechanical tools with contemporary designs of his own. In the 27 Fish installation, the artist used 1950s Johnson brand outboard motors for the main body, stainless steel cat bowls, kitchen hinges, nails for the teeth, electrical conduits, fiberglass, custom laser-cut aluminum parts molded with a hydraulic press for the fins, and automotive paint with chromed and polished elements to create these hybrid creatures that appear to come from a 19th-century vision of the future. Very much like the Argentinian collective Center for Art and Communication (CAyC) in the 1970s and 1980s, Castro conceives his installations as multidisciplinary spaces in which to explore the relationship between art, science, environment, and society. The deep-sea fish in 27 Fish were created in a retro-futuristic style, incorporating kinetic movement and Light. YEAR: 2019

CELEBRATING DIVERSITY

In order to commemorate local and international LGBTQ+ communities around the world, the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) is presenting a special installation about diversity and pride in collaboration with world-known Argentinian artistic duo, Leo Chiachio & Daniel Giannone. The presentation includes the 120 ft. long textile flag, MOLAA’s new acquisition “Californian Family in Six Colors 1” and a recorded interview about their creative process. These artworks were created by the artists at MOLAA where more than 3,000 members of the Long Beach and Los Angeles community collaborated in the creation of the flag. The creation of this work of art took place during the artists’ MOLAA residency between March and June, 2019. Visitors and community members were invited to contribute with the construction of the work of art by adding their own messages about the meaning of diversity and acceptance. The banner was carried by over 100 volunteers at the Long Beach Pride Parade and exhibited at the event Pride at The Port in San Pedro, CA. The Museum highlights underrepresented voices of Latin Americans and Latinos in the US and around the world. This installation represents the commitment of MOLAA towards the values of diversity and inclusion for all through the arts.

THE BIRTH OF THE NIEMAND

The Birth of the Niemand consists of monumental large sculptures. They represent a whole range of negative emotions that people try to hide in their lives, such as maliciousness, inferiority complex, and unhealthy self-confidence. The artist studied in Bratislava at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and in Prague at the Academy of Fine Arts. Frešo belongs to the most remarkable figures of the contemporary art in the region of the former Czechoslovakia, Europe. His work and overall approach to art is rather untypical but at the same time they reflect the situation in the society and culture.

The artist creates sophisticated concepts and projects presenting them as seemingly simple closed “Pieces of Art”. He is often critical in his works and aggressively expresses his contempt of the art scene itself and its processes but with a light, humorous and playful undertone. One of the most fascinating elements of his creation is the seeming counterpoint of emphasis on huge, grandiose EGO connected with a Gesture in combination with disarming self-ironic humility. His ability to reveal dark sides of his soul, or stumbles and throws them to the world regardless of consequences, shifts the author’s concepts to broader possibilities of perception of the reasons of his work. Viktor Frešo is interested in direct, efficient, visual tools. He creates a certain space between action- reaction and the conditions of quick recognition of relations between the expressing of me and the indication of others.

AGUA

Now Art LA and Building Bridges Art Exchange have joined together as local non profit organizations to present the work Agua by artist Luciana Abait, a video projection inspired by the flood-myth motif that occurs in many cultures in which water acts a healing and re-birth tool, often referencing ideas of creation, purification and sustaining life.

Agua offers the public a space, an oasis, for healing and understanding. The work is site specific and architecturally integrated to foster a poetic awareness of water as a sacred resource for humanity while creating a moment of reflection for those who attend. Agua is a multichannel artwork combining videos of water gathered through years from nature exploration around the globe. The shifting color hues seen throughout express various states of mind and emotion, harmonizing the interactive experience physically with an internal one.

EXPERIENCE

Climate change is a significant threat that has raised concerns all over the world. From shifting weather patterns to rising sea levels, the impact of climate change is global, and at an unprecedented scale. Concerns about global warming have increased significantly since 2013. Climate activists across the world are now organizing protests and non-violent civil disobedience to raise awareness around the crisis.

Be that as it may, there are people who are not concerned about the effect of climate change and it is a divisive topic all over the world. We hope this installation can bridge the gap and instill a sense of urgency about the threats facing our planet so we can mend the issues that divide us and come together to heal the Earth.

ETERNAL LIGHT - 21C THE LAST JUDGMENT

Inspired by Michelangelo’s masterpiece, The Last Judgment, artist HanHo’s Eternal light – 21c.

Using traditional art techniques combined with technology, HanHo creates multicolored light-infused immersive worlds that shift and ebb in front of your eyes. Nearly all the figures depicted in the work are the artist himself—performance, history, war, future, fantasy all meld in this massive panorama of humanity. “Eternal Light,” as the artist calls it, bathes his canvases and elevates his worlds to near mystical proportions. Will this eternal light uplift humanity from the on- rushing climate crisis? Will we have the ability, as species, to avoid our own destruction? Who will judge us, finally? These questions undergird HanHo’s “Last Judgment” and create a space for us to contemplate them and our future.

THE JOURNEY

The Warriors are life-sized, laser-cut, wooden sculptures set in an environment that resembles a harsh desert landscape. Inspired by the 2,200-year-old Chinese Terracotta Warriors – 8,000 life-sized soldier statues excavated in Shaanxi province in 1974, Bert’s vision was to honor the warriors of our time by creating an army of immigrant heroes. The relationship between the individual and the collective group is apparent in the installation. Seen individually, the modern-day warriors are strong and proud, but when viewed together – and multiplied in the surrounding mirrors – they become an overwhelming and forceful army.

All the individuals depicted represent real people with real names – David, Alex, Margarita, Nalleli, Eduardo, Sabrina, and others – who stood at the forefront during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Bert encourages us to think about the invisibility of Latinx workers, including nurses, farmers, firefighters, and activists, who kept the American economy thriving when most of the world stayed home. A visual tribute to strength and dedication, The Warriors pay homage to these fighters, acknowledging their courage, resilience, and warrior spirit.

STEEL CHE (YOUNGKWAN CHOI)

Youngkwan Choi reinterprets steel as a symbol of human civilization and power, rather than just a sculptural material. His work is based on restoring the materiality of steel and the historical narratives it contains, and exploring its relationship with humans.

His New York-based series on guns critically examines society and power structures through their paradoxical meanings of destruction and protection. He uses the gun as an object to explore the complex relationship between violence, survival, and power, and asks the philosophical question, “What do humans really need?”

Choi’s work goes beyond the materiality of steel to capture the fundamental conflicts of human history: creation and destruction, protection and violence. In doing so, Choi sharply captures the contemporary social and political context and offers new possibilities for contemporary sculpture.

**Artist note: My work does not simply end with cutting, welding, and assembling steel. It begins with breathing life into its history—unearthing where it came from, its original purpose, and the countless hours it spent in various places. As an artist, I find myself drawn to the question of how these materials interacted with people and their lives.

THE NATURE OF ART

“A work of art encountered as a work of art is an experience, not a statement or an answer to a question. Art is not only about something; it is something. A work of art is a thing in the world, not just a text or commentary on the world.”

— Susan Sontag, Against Interpretation —

The nature of art is a subject that has been debated for centuries and remains an enigma. The original split between nature and culture is the basic postulate that makes us human, but it is also what drives us to seek a connection with nature through art.

Artistic practices, like religious ones, are variations on an attempt to suture the gap between nature and culture, and Roberto Vivo’s work is an example of how art can be used to explore this relationship and find new ways of connecting with nature.

In his works, Roberto Vivo establishes a deliberate break with history, as he dispenses with references that date his view and restores forms to their primary and pristine character. In this way, he manages to reformulate the question about classical art or, better said, about what we call classical in art. That is to say, that enigmatic characteristic that transcends anchorage in an era and that continues to question where the conditions of existence that sustained the concretion and meaning of a work of art have disappeared. The action of time thus becomes superfluous in its cruel exercise of peremptory expiration over each period of life. And it forces us to think in terms of a method of interpretation that accounts for that zone of aesthetic perception that escapes the rhetorical webs of each present.

Vivo’s production evokes the boldness, and the formal and compositional freshness, of Henri Matisse’s famous cut-outs, for which the French artist cut out shapes from colored paper and arranged them on other sheets that he laid out in his studio. Characteristic of Matisse’s last creative stage, these collages composed of irregular and colorful cut-outs, similar to vegetal or floral motifs, resonate in Vivo’s works. But, in Vivo’s case, he carries them to three-dimensionality, dynamizing the forms and rendering them corporeal.

Inquiring into the essential elements that nature and art share is at the core of Vivo’s research. Form, color, volume and texture come into play in the spatiotemporal dimensions in which his works unfold. The artist appears to hide the coordinates that give rise to his designs, at times organic, at times fantastic. We observe them in a here and now, as a snapshot event that might continue to develop and grow in our absence.

In a gesture of apparent innocence, of attachment to the playful possibilities of creation, Roberto Vivo deliberately strips his works of the urgency of context, of reference and of historicity, thus offering the viewer the opportunity to approach the game of sensitive contemplation and experience without prejudice.

HEROES

Acclaimed Los Angeles-based muralist, Robert Vargas, will be presenting a special live art experience, entitled Heroes, honoring first responders.

Known for his powerful and dynamic large-scale works, Vargas will create a massive mural onsite at this year’s LA Art Show in a heartfelt tribute to the firefighters and first responders who continue to heroically serve the city during the recent fires and challenges.

This mural, created live during the event, is an homage to the courage, resilience, and selflessness of those who protect and serve our community. The artwork will also serve as a symbol of hope and perseverance, reflecting Los Angeles’ unwavering spirit in overcoming adversity.

“Los Angeles has faced unprecedented challenges in recent times, but through it all, our community’s strength and determination have shone through. This mural will celebrate the heroes among us and honor the resilience of our city,” said Robert Vargas.

Vargas’ mural will come to life in the heart of the LA Art Show, allowing attendees the unique opportunity to witness the creative process firsthand. The work will showcase his signature bold style while capturing the essence of unity and gratitude that defines Los Angeles. PRESENTED BY ROBERT VARGAS

SHE, UNBROKEN

Since the onset of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, Ukrainian women have endured unimaginable challenges, marked by displacement, mental health struggles, economic instability, and vulnerability to violence. Despite these profound hardships, their resilience and spirit have shone through in countless ways, not least through their art. The war has displaced millions of Ukrainian women and children, with 8 million refugees fleeing the country and an additional 6.5 million internally displaced within its borders. This upheaval has fractured communities and forced women to navigate unfamiliar landscapes while grappling with acute stress and trauma. Studies reveal staggering rates of mental health challenges, with nearly all war-displaced Ukrainians showing symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder, and 30% of the population estimated to suffer from PTSD. The economic and social fabric of Ukrainian life has been deeply altered. With men conscripted for military service, women have stepped into traditionally male-dominated industries, such as mining and heavy labor, while also facing widespread unemployment and poverty. Meanwhile, reports of sexual violence and the harrowing conditions faced by expectant mothers—giving birth in bomb shelters and basements—paint a stark picture of resilience amid adversity. “She, Unbroken” presents the powerful and intimate voices of Ukrainianborn women artists who have endured the ravages of war and its indelible impact on identity, body, and spirit. The exhibition explores themes of displacement, reinvention, and transformation, delving into the ways conflict reshapes identity and creative expression. Each artist contributes a profound narrative, blending memory and survival in a tapestry of resilience and reinvention. This collection serves as a tribute to their unyielding strength and creativity—a testament to the enduring human spirit.

fell to the side, and the other stood up straight, showing the surgical insides of flower-shaped candies severed in two. He opened the freezer to see if there was another mold she’d left in there, as she often did. He found ice cubes with the same tiny flowers locked inside. He pushed them out of the tray and onto the platter with the shimmying gelatin. He went back to the drawer and found a culinary blowtorch. “Whatever they’re called,” he thought. It seemed necessary to secure the knife back in its block before flicking on the fire. One weapon at a time. He noticed that the ce cubes were already melting, dripping down onto the porcelain, making the gummy cake soggy. Before he could singe the mold, he wanted to make sure not to lose too much of the liquefying dessert. Frantically, he pushed through the drawer and then looked up into the pantry. The only things he could find were a small colander and a cheese grater.
