Letter from the Director of Operations

Palmetto Bluff Members,

I am looking forward to joining the Palmetto Bluff team in August. My first official day will be Monday, August 21. Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to begin to familiarize myself with many of the departments and people responsible for exceeding Palmetto Bluff Member expectations. The positive culture and teamwork have been impressive to see. I have also received several welcoming notes from Members.

As you may know from a previous announcement, I have been at Brays Island Plantation in northern Beaufort County for almost fifteen years. While transitioning to Palmetto Bluff will take time, my experiences at Brays Island include many of the same amenities such as food and beverage, golf, racquet sports, shooting sports, equestrian, and fishing and boating.

Prior to Brays Island I was the General Manager/COO of Dataw Island which is also in northern Beaufort County.

One of the keys to my success has been to “manage by walking around”. I enjoy being actively engaged with my fellow employees as well as members and guests. Building relationships is critical to exceeding the expectations of both Members and staff. This is also a great way to gather feedback about what is working and where opportunities can be found.

On a personal note, my wife and I have been married for twenty-four years and we have two sons who both attend the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

I am excited to join the team at Palmetto Bluff!
