AUGUST 15 n Hinckley Fireworks Cruise
6:30–9:30pm | Grace Dock
Cruise to Shelter Cove on Hilton Head Island to watch fireworks from our private Hinckley Yacht. Enjoy the sunset, and Lowcountry waterways, with charcuterie, red and white wine along the journey $1,050 per charter.

While most bird species begin their fall migration in September, we have a handful of early birds that begin their trek during the balmy nights of August. Join the Conservancy Educator, Aaron Palmieri, as we look for some of these early migrants in an area known as Pump Swamp.

5–10pm | Longfield Stables
Join us for sunset at Longfield Stables and watch as horses and riders compete over jumps to win prizes! Classes will start with ground poles and gradually increase in height to reach a maximum of 3’3”. All classes will be judged on time and faults. Complimentary.

American alligators have been a part of the Lowcountry landscape since before the first Europeans stepped foot on the continent. As the number of people moving into alligators’ habitat increases, so do the chances of encountering them. Join the Conservancy as we help build an understanding of how to coexist with alligators.

Spend a morning with Outside Palmetto Bluff and discover the benefits of yoga on a stand-up paddleboard. Inspire better balance and excite your practice by taking to the water! Basic standup paddleboard experience is recommended. $65 per person.

Join the Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club for a fun afternoon of friendly competition, followed by food and drinks. $25 for Shooting Club Members, $50 for non-Shooting Club members.
Join the PBGO team as we travel to our next location for our Drive-In series at the Golf Club! We will enjoy a night under the stars watching “National Treasure”. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets. The movie will begin promptly at 8:30pm. All children under 13 must have parental supervision. Complimentary.

9–11:30am | Conservancy Classroom n Watercolor Landscapes for Beginners
What lives in the salt marsh? Come find out as we stroll along the marsh edge to Moreland Landing and discuss the ecology of the marsh. Once at the Landing, we will check crab traps, throw cast nets, and search for critters under the Moreland dock!

This beginner’s watercolor workshop with nationally-acclaimed artist Alan Shuptrine will focus on general techniques and provide attendees with a comprehensive introduction to the world of watercolor. Working on small postcard-size watercolor templates, Shuptrine will demonstrate techniques as you create your own postcard watercolor, using all types of watercolor methods, including wet-in-wet, wet-on-dry, and drybrush techniques. Basic supplies will be provided. $125 per person.
AUGUST 25 n Explore PBC: A Plant’s Guide to Surviving the Maritime Forest

To us, the maritime forest looks lush, serene, and almost tropical, but to a plant, survival in this ecosystem is difficult. Join Conservancy Biologist, Lydia Moore, as we explore what makes a maritime forest unique and the adaptations plants have to cope with harsh conditions.
AUGUST 25 n Immersive Watercolor Workshop

Participants of this immersive experience will have the chance to capture the picturesque beauty of the Lowcountry through watercolor painting with Alan Shuptrine. The journey will begin with a trip through Wilson Village to seek artistic inspiration before returning to FLOW Gallery for a day of painting. This event is tailored to intermediate and experienced painters, with a delicious lunch provided for attendees. $225 per person.

AUGUST 26 n Gilding Workshop

Join nationally acclaimed artist and gilder, Alan Shuptrine, for this unique workshop which will offer the opportunity to learn about the lost art of gilding. Focusing on both water and oil-size gilding, each participant will have hands-on experience with the time-honored tools and materials of a gilder. In addition, the workshop will allow each participant to experiment and create their own take-home treasure of a beautiful Lowcountry bird’s nest, featuring an exquisite trio of wooden blue heron eggs, enhanced with acrylic paints and 23 Kt. gold leaf. This workshop is designed for all skill levels. $225 per person.
