SEPTEMBER 15 n Explore PBC: Fishing with the Conservancy

9-11am | Conservancy Classroom

Join the Conservancy Team as we load up in the tour truck and visit the best spot for catching catfish at the Bluff. Any fish we get will be catch and release, but feel free to come back and snag yourself some dinner!

SEPTEMBER 19 n Explore PBC: Hog Stalk

8-10:30am | Conservancy Classroom

Join the team as we go out and search for the infamous wild hogs.

SEPTEMBER 20 n Brown Bag Lunch: Walnut Grove

12–1pm | Conservancy Classroom n AIR Welcome Reception

Located in what is now the Barge Landing neighborhood, Walnut Grove Plantation was one of the first plantations established at Palmetto Bluff. Join the Conservancy’s Archaeologist, Dr. Mary Socci, for an overview of the history and details of what the excavations revealed.

Join The Arts Initiative in welcoming September Artist in Residence and Memphis-based ceramicist Melissa Bridgman to Palmetto Bluff. Melissa’s passion for clay is apparent in her work, which features intricate designs inspired by patterns, printmaking, fine textiles, ceramics, and the folk traditions of North Carolina. Guests will be able to meet Melissa, learn more about her creative process, and view her stunning pieces on display. $25 per person.

SEPTEMBER 21 n Make Your Own Oyster Ornament Workshop

2-4pm | FLOW Gallery

Join potter Melissa Bridgman for a unique workshop experience where attendees will create their own ceramic oysters. During the workshop, Melissa will guide attendees through the process of hand-building ceramic oysters using various techniques and textures to create realistic and unique finished pieces. After the workshop, Melissa will take the pieces back to her studio in Memphis, where she will fire them to perfection. Once finished, the ceramic oysters will be shipped back to attendees, ready to be displayed or gifted to a loved one. $95 per person.

10am-1pm | Shooting Club

Join the Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club for a fun afternoon of friendly competition, followed by food and drinks. $25 for Shooting Club Members, $50 for non-Shooting Club members.

SEPTEMBER 22 n Explore PBC: Insects and Wildflowers

9-11:30am | Conservancy Classroom

Join the Conservancy team as we look at the diversity of pollinators and forbs that are growing in the mixed pine-hardwood uplands of Oak Island. Wait, what’s a forb? Come and find out!

SEPTEMBER 22 n Make Your Own Oyster Plate Workshop

10am-4pm | FLOW Gallery

In this dynamic and fun-filled workshop, Melissa will guide attendees through molding ceramic plates that resemble real oyster shells during the morning session. After a short break for lunch, attendees will paint their plates using various techniques and colors to create a unique and beautiful finished piece. Once the workshop is over, Melissa will take each creation back to her studio in Memphis, where she will fire them to perfection. Lunch will be provided. $150 per person.

SEPTEMBER 23 n Lowcountry Hunter Pace

8am | Longfield Stables

Join our local fox hunting group, the Lowcountry Hunt for their annual Hunter Pace through the beautiful equestrian trails! Teams of 2-4 riders will follow an outdoor course laid out over terrain which is meant to simulate the riding conditions encountered during a foxhunt. Complimentary.

SEPTEMBER 23 n Kids Pinch Pot Workshop

This kids’ ceramics workshop will teach the fundamentals of pottery and encourage these budding artists to use their imagination to create something truly one-of-a-kind. Melissa will offer step-by-step instructions on molding and shaping clay into unique and personalized creatures while providing all the necessary materials to decorate their creations, including clay, tools, and paints. Once the workshop is complete, Melissa will take the figurines back to Memphis, fire them in her kiln, and carefully ship them back to attendees. Ages 5 and over. $95 per child.

SEPTEMBER 25 - 28 n PBGO Invention Convention

5–7pm | PBGO Loft

Calling all inventors and big imaginations! PBGO is proud to announce their first Invention Convention! We would love to see how you think outside of the box and create something out of nothing. Join us in the PBGO loft to create your best invention yet. We will provide the material, a few rules, and you provide the brains! Inventions can only be worked on in the PBGO loft so join at your convenience throughout the week! Once your creation is complete, join us on Friday for the Invention Convention Award Ceremony! Complimentary.
