Updates for School Operations - COVID We continue to monitor and respond to Ministry guidance in relation to school operations. We will begin to offer more parent engagements and Admin Support, have also started to participate in local field trips for students, to support Rampayoh/Mendaram: learning where available. Large interschool events such as Brunei Junior Zurimah Bte Jumat Sports League (BJSL) will not take place currently. While enjoying the z.jumat@bsp-shell.bn realities of a COVID-free Brunei, we also continue to be diligent in our understanding of the global pandemic taking place. Please continue to Admin Support, Teraja: practise social distancing, scanning your QR code before entering the Hasmah Bte Hj Salleh premises, taking temperatures at main foyers, maintaining good hygiene hasmah.salleh@ with regular hand washing and staying away from school if unwell. Thank bsp-shell.bn you for your support. Kind regards, Cindy

In Nursery, as part of our Imagine That Entry Point, we are learning what an artist is. The children know that an artist can paint, draw and build and over the coming weeks, we are going to learn that an artist is so much more. The children enjoyed showing off their artistic skills and it was great to see some collaborative art happening too. We are very much looking forward to seeing what artists will be revealed in the ‘Mystery Gallery.’ Miss Louise and Miss Sur

P1 Entry Point– Blast Off! This week started off with a “bang”, with the discovery of a crashed rocket ship at school. There were lots of enquiry and cooperation as the children quickly got to work repairing the rocket in our new space workshop and exploring our new space themed play areas.

M1 - Term 1

Pupils in M1 learned how to use a microscope and began a journey into the fabulously complex inner space of the cell. Here, they have prepared and observed their own cheek and onion slides. This year’s results were exceptional, with several views looking like they were from a textbook. Some cracking views of bacteria (the little black spots) on this pair of cheek cells below, a reminder for regular oral hygiene!

To demonstrate their learning about the many specialised cells found in multicellular organisms, the pupils researched and built models of neurons, root hair cells, sperm cells, ciliated epithelial cells, leaf palisade cells and many others. The posters showed the detailed structures inside each cell and commented on the unique adaptations each of them had for its specialised role.
