A safety assembly for P1 to P3 was held last Friday to mark BSP Safety Day. The security team joined our assembly as we talked about keeping ourselves, our school and our camp safe and secure. We also discussed what we need to do and who to look for, if we feel unsafe near strangers. A big thanks to our friends at the HSE department who kindly volunteered for a Q&A session. We had a lot of fantastic questions raised by our inquisitive P1, P2 and P3 students. Students also enjoyed singing a song: ‘Stop, Look and Listen’. We thank parents for your cooperation in supporting travel safety. Together, with everybody’s support we can all keep safe!

Wednesday 16th September was BSP Safety Day. To mark the day at school, we focused on ‘Travel to School Safely’ and took this as an opportunity to reinforce the actions children can take to keep themselves safe, whether they travel by car, foot or bicycle. Since so many of our children cycle to school, we also reflected specifically on bike safety in our assembly.

A big thank you to Miss Jo and Miss Rachel for sharing their knowledge on the importance of riding a bicycle safely.

Bike Helmets Miss Jo and Miss Rachel demonstrated the importance of a helmet and how to wear a cycle helmet to ensure maximum protection.

How fit is your bike? Miss Jo checked Miss Rachel’s bike. Did the brakes work? Was her chain oiled? Were her tyres inflated? Did her lights work? So many things to think about before mounting a bike!

Visibilty Miss Rachel explained how bright colours, especially at night, keep her safe and help others to notice her on the paths or roads.

The children enjoyed finishing off with a quiz to demonstrate everything they had learned and also by singing a song they learned, with Miss Sarah, on cycle safety. - Miss Perminder

Goldilocks In P1! On Tuesday morning, the children in P1 had a big surprise when they came to school to find there was a huge mess everywhere! ‘This is a very big mystery’ Abdullah

What has happened? Was it a monkey? Robyn

After some fantastic enquiry skills were demonstrated, the children discovered it was Goldilocks.

‘I found the thread from Goldilocks’ socks’ Willow

The children made posters to communicate what had happened, and tried to find her. Here is the porridge and Baby Bear’s is all gone. Ilse

Luckily, Goldilocks showed integrity by doing the right thing. She admitted to what she did and said sorry. She even gave us the ingredients for her favourite recipe, so that we could make some delicious honey bread.

Chess Club gets off to a Great Start! It was a busy start for the very popular Chess Club ASA, catering for all chess levels with students from P4 to M2! After watching a brief introduction to the game and finding out the experience of students, they were paired off to test their powers of logic and develop tactics. For those students who are new to the game here is the link How to move the pieces. https://www.chess.com/article/view/how-to-move-the-pieces We look forward to seeing your progress over the term.
