Welcome

to the 16th annual Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios. We’re delighted to be celebrating our 16th anniversary with you. We have 56 artists showing in 27 locations in and around Peterborough, a little less than last year but we have quite a few new members this year (having grown from two artists exhibiting in 2000). We are still growing from strength to strength and give our heartfelt thanks to our founders for allowing us to enjoy our current success. We are also pleased to announce our new website and hope you will take the time to have a browse. We are continually impressed by the diversity of talent among our established and new members. You will have the opportunity to see many art forms including: textiles, jewellery, ceramics, mosaics, digital art, printing and painting in its many forms, in fact something for everyone. I am proud to say that we have a truly vibrant art scene. Following on from the success of last year’s prize draw, this year we’re offering you again the chance to win £100 worth of vouchers to spend on an artist(s) of your choice. Just share a photo from your visit to an artist on to social media with #winpaos2016 to enter the prize draw. You can use this Directory and the information on our website to plan your visit. You will find useful information about each artist and maps helping you to find them, and can keep the Directory as a handy guide to local artists throughout the year. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter @ArtPeterborough

What to expect You will get a warm welcome at all of our venues, many of which are the artists’ own homes. In some you will be able to look around the gardens and/or enjoy next to the artist’s information. refreshments so look for the symbols: In some venues there will be more than one artist exhibiting. Sometimes you will be invited into the artist’s studio to see work in progress as well as finished work: in other venues you will just see the finished art on display. You will be able to talk to the artists about their work and methods and in some venues you will be able to see demonstrations. There will be work for sale wherever you go. Entry is free and there will never be any obligation to buy. We ask that you respect the venues wherever you go, bearing in mind that you will often be in the artist’s private home. Please note that whilst cash and cheques are usually acceptable a few artists may accept cards.

Access As most venues are private homes, disabled access may be limited so if in doubt, please telephone the artists in advance to discuss your requirements.

Liability and Copyright The Peterborough Artists Open Studios Group cannot accept liability for any loss, damage or injury sustained by any member of the public visiting any of the venues. The public does so entirely at its own risk. The copyright in all artists’ images in this Directory, on our website and in all works on display is owned by the individual artists.

I am a printmaker working in lino at present. My work is currently inspired by my Scottish background and my interest in traditional ‘Sailor Jerry’ style tattoos.

My source of inspiration is derived from my memory and experiences. I consider the relationship of form between colours and textures in order to create an intriguing pictorial image.

Summer Exhibition: “Ophelia” Selected artists commissioned to create unique pieces in response to the layers of symbolism in ‘Ophelia’ by Pre-Raphaelite genius Sir John Everett Millais. Pure inspiration!

Choice of narrative, medium and technique are all subject to an intuitive creative process coerced by a hyperactive mind which is utilised for maximum effect. Never a dull moment...

Visually, I look for abstract and organic forms in everyday imagery that I can develop using various techniques of construction, and then incorporate strong vibrant colours in the glazing.

RenÊ’s richly textured, atmospheric work is semi-abstract and expressionistic. Rather than attempt to mimic nature she describes the qualities of a subjective experience. Live pottery demonstration, weather-permitting.

I use watercolours, inks, fabric paint, acrylics and pen. Inspired by trees, seascapes and big skies, my style is realist but loose which brings the subject to life.

I’ve been designing and handcrafting precious metal jewellery on and off for 20 years but have recently made it my primary focus. Creating with metal is what I do best!

I am an artist and garden designer. I often work with metal and a plasma cutter to create panels depicting the nature around me.
