his issue, we're eager to help you top up your stash with top cards while giving you a crafty lesson to boost your skills. Here, Tracey Daykin-Jones' four greetings make light of heat embossing — the method of creating a raised image through heat, which can be applied to give your card makes a dazzling new look! To find out more, visit our Craft School on page 32.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
image, 6cm in diameter. Die cut a 6.5cm scallop-edged circle and emboss again with silver powder.
➊ Take a white 12cm square card blank and cover the front with paper from a red envelope. Trim the wreath section of the card into a 11.2cm square and mount centrally to the red paper, leaving a small border. ➋ Stamp a reindeer onto red paper with Versamark ink and emboss with silver powder. Use a circle die to create a disc around the stamped
➌ Layer the red circle onto the scallop-edged one, and stick in the centre of the wreath with foam pads. Adhere a 'Merry Christmas' sentiment to the bottom left.
BUTTON TREE
➊ Stamp a reindeer onto red paper with Versamark ink and emboss with light pink powder. Use a 6cm circle 24

die to cut around the image. ➋ Roughly mark a triangular shape centrally on the blue snowflake patterned card, with the peak 1cm from the top of the card, and each lower point 2.5cm from the bottom of the card and 1cm from each side. ➌ Arrange an assortment of die-cut motifs, including the stamped reindeer die-cut, within the triangular outline. When happy with the design, stick the elements down and fill any gaps with silver gems and pink buttons.

To emboss, apply a thin layer of ink to the stamp and press to your card. Add a generous amount of embossing powder and point your heat tool at one area until it changes colour, then move to another, ‘chasing’ the image
FESTIVE RED
➊ Take a red card blank and stick the heart banner 3cm from the bottom. Adhere a dark blue border, light blue strip and thin border of mistletoe above the banner. Add a length of lace, securing inside the card. ➋ Cut three triangle shapes from the Christmas tree images and stick them to the left of the card. Stamp a reindeer onto white card using Versamark ink and purple embossing
DARLING DEER
powder. Use a 6cm circle die around the motif.
➊ Cut a 12cm circle from white card, score and fold in half. Trim a 0.5cm line from the bottom edge of the back of the card so the card can stand securely.
➌ Make a 6.5cm scallop-edged circle from white card, ink the edges with Versamark ink and emboss with silver powder. Layer the stamped image onto this section and affix to the card with foam pads. ➍ Punch two small stars from a diecut cloud and stick to the top right of the card. Embellish with a pink button and silver gems.
➋ Cover the front of the card with a semicircle of patterned paper and mount a layer of holly patterned paper on top, leaving a 3mm border. Wrap twine around the fold in the card so it coils around the front three times and tie into a bow.

➌ Stamp a reindeer image onto green card and emboss using Versamark ink and silver powder. Trim to a 6cm circle and layer onto a 6.5cm scallop-edged disc of red card. Mount this section onto a 7cm circle of white card, and then again onto a 7.5cm scallop-edged disc of red card. ➍ Add the layered section to the card with foam pads on the bottom half of the motif only.

TEMPLATE
.............................................................................................. THESE PRETTY CHARMS ARE EASY TO PERSONALISE ...............................................................................................
san By Su er Nin s Jane
YOU WILL NEED: ❂ Downloadable papers from papercraftermagazine.co.uk ❂ Online template from papercraftermagazine.co.uk ❂ Craft thread ❂ Pearlescent paper, double-sided, gold ❂ Bells, gold ❂ Glue ➊ Download the template from papercraftermagazine.co.uk. For each bell, cut out two body pieces and a handle from patterned paper. From gold paper cut out two charms, a handle band and a decorative band. ➋ Score all the fold lines using an embossing tool held against a metal ruler. Crease all the folds, using the photo as a guide to indicate whether mountain or valley folds are needed. The handle centre fold only needs shaping, not creasing.
S
usan Niner Janes' paper bells are much easier to make than they look and make fantastic tree ornaments or bunting. Put your own spin on the designs by adding ribbon, choosing contrasting papers or using a bead instead of a jingle bell.
"Tהse LLs make p y pty favrs – put e at ch tab place d hi a set un!" SUSAN NINER JANES, PAPERCRAFTER DESIGNER
➌ Pierce or punch a hole in the centre of the top hexagon on each bell piece. Assemble two half-bells by glueing together the adjacent tabs. Join the two halves together then glue one top hexagon on top of the other, sealing the bell top. ➍ Join the decorative band into a ring. Apply a dab of glue on opposite sides of the underside. Lower the decorative band onto the centre section of the bell, matching the faceted folds. Smooth the band in place to adhere the glue. ➎ Cut a length of craft thread and fold it in half. Pass the folded end through the top loop of the jingle bell. Make a half-hitch knot and tighten it.
➏ Thread the craft thread tails through a tapestry needle. Pass the needle through the hole in the top of the bell, from the inside. The jingle bell cord should extend to the bottom of the bell. On the outside of the bell, knot the craft thread at the top and trim it off close to the knot. ➐ Bend the handle into a loop and glue the straight section near the base together. Wrap the decorative gold paper band around the straight section. Glue the end down and trim
off any excess paper. ➑ Open out the bell handle and spread the faceted 'wings'. Apply glue to the centre section only then stick the centre sections of the handle onto the top hexagon of the bell. Fold the wings downwards and fix them onto the top section of the bell. ➒ Half-hitch a loop of craft thread around the base of the bell handle. Tie a charm onto each thread tail, knotting and trimming the thread ends.
TIP: If you don’t have an embossing tool, you should find that a dried out fine-point pen will do the job nicely 54
