S
ubtle and pretty definitely has its place in the crafting world, but sometimes loud and proud is the only way. Tracey Daykin-Jones' vibrant greetings are guaranteed to turn a frown upside down, with a host of jazzy colour combinations and unusual designs that will leave you with that satisfying crafting buzz. Each of these cards features a different fold, so you can enjoy adding to your skillset as you craft.
FEELING FOXY ➊ Take a 16cm x 17.5cm piece of green card and mark vertical lines 3.5cm and 7cm in from each outer edge, then mark horizontal lines 3.5cm from the top and bottom.
LOVELY DAY ➊ Cut a yellow blank to an 11.5cm square and cover the inside front panel with a section of pink patterned paper, leaving a 2mm border. Add a 2cm x 11cm strip of blue patterned paper to the outer edge of the pink paper and cover the join with a 0.5cm x 11cm strip of green card. ➋ Score a diagonal line across the top part of the blank and layer a triangle of blue patterned paper to the visible front section at the front, leaving a 2mm border.
cey By Trkain Day es Jon
➌ Apply red ink to a large pre-cut heart and put aside to dry. Cut out the 'Have a lovely day' sentiment and layer onto red patterned paper, then yellow card. Stick this section to the left of the diagonal section with foam pads.
➋ Score the vertical lines 7cm in from the edge down to the top horizontal line, turn the card around and repeat at the bottom. Cut along the marked lines in a rectangle without trimming between the two marks 7cm in from the blank, to create a 'swing' section. Fold into place.
➍ Stick the red heart to the right of the inside panel, affixing over the join with foam pads so the easel card can stand. Glue three clear gems to the sentiment.
22 PA P E R C R A F T E R
➌ Secure two pieces of red patterned paper to the left and right panels around the 'swing'. Trim the tree motif from the patterned blank, round the corners and fix centrally on the swing. ➍ Cut out and stick two small birds and a fox to the tree motif. Draw small leaves using a green ProMarker pen onto the motif. Trim two yellow flowers snipped from patterned paper and stick to the central sections, above and below the image.

SQUIRREL WISHES ➊ Cover the front panel of a blank with an 11.5cm x 17cm section from an orange envelope. Cut out a 10cm circle around the garland from the leaf circle blank. ➋ Snip a 7cm circle from floral paper, a 6.5cm disc from orange paper and a 5.5cm circle from the squirrel image. Matt and layer the different pieces and affix to the top of the blank. ➌ Score a 7cm x 14cm strip of white card, horizontally at 3.5cm intervals and concertina. Cover the second and fourth panels with fox patterned paper and the remaining three with green patterned paper, including the front panel. ➍ Mount the 'Best wishes' text onto card, trim and attach to the front panel of the concertina at an angle using foam pads. Stick this below the layered circles with foam pads. Close the concertina envelope with a tiny wooden peg at the top.
LITTLE LOVE ➊ Trim an 11.5cm x 17cm topfold green blank to 15cm wide. Trim the inner piece of the blank to a 5.5cm length. Score a horizontal line midway across the front of the card and fold it back on itself, then score another across the front panel of the scored section. Fold to create a stepper card. ➋ Add a 2cm x 14.5cm piece of blue patterned paper to the first front panel and a 5cm x 14.5cm rectangle of pink patterned paper to the larger third panel. ➌ Pop out the die-cut 'Love' and tie a paper flower around the letter 'O'. Stick this to the pink paper section with foam pads. ➍ Colour three different sized hearts with red ink pad and add to the front panel, securing the largest with foam pads and the remaining with double-sided tape. Glue three red gems to the 'O' of 'Love'.

ho said that frames have to be used for displaying photos? We love the idea of making the frames themselves the talking point. Here, Elizabeth Moad and Corinne Bradd have created mini masterpieces with a little cutting, sticking and tissue paper.
LOVE FRAME
➊ Cover a chipboard frame with diluted PVA zabeth By Elioad glue. Tear strips of M patterned tissue paper and cover the outer part of the frame with them. ➋ Glue dotty tissue paper in the centre of the frame and leave to dry. Attach the bunch of roses to the frame along with an 'All my love' sentiment. Finish with a yellow bird motif.
BUTTERFLY DESIGN ➊ Remove the inne frame insert and By Coradd r B set aside. Apply glue to the whole front of the frame. Lay it face down onto the back of a piece of patterned paper and use a sharp craft knife to cut around the inner and outer edges. ➋ Cover the insert with red paper and replace it. Fold patterned paper 16

in half and cut out a frilly butterfly shape. Open it out and mount it onto plain white paper, cutting to leave a 1mm border all round. ➌ Cut a smaller, layered butterfly shape from co-ordinating paper and a body and antennae from white paper. Layer the pieces together with foam pads and fix to the centre of the frame at an angle.

et stylish storage to stash your recipes and brighten up a tired noticeboard with Rachel Cave's gorgeous paper designs and Corinne Bradd's beautiful projects. These impressive-looking paper and card creations are amazingly simple to whip up and also make fantastic gifts for a foodie friend.
RECIPE HOLDER ➊ Cut the following rectangles of thick board – one 10cm x 17cm, two 6cm x 17cm, two 6cm x 9.8cm, two 4cm x 16.8cm. Cover both sides of the smallest pieces and one side of the remaining pieces with light coloured patterned paper. ➋ Place the large rectangle face up and glue the front and back panels to the edges with the patterned side facing in. Stick the two side panels in place in the same way, slipping the ends inside the front and back panels to create neat corners. ➌ Strengthen the joints by glueing 7cm long strips of patterned paper around the outside of the box, folding the excess underneath. Neaten the underside of the box
with wide masking tape. Glue the two narrow strips of card inside the box to make dividers. ➍ Decorate the edge of the box with punched border strip cut from plain red paper if desired. Cut several pieces of coloured card 8cm x 15cm. Add patterned paper tabs along the top edges and embellish with a strip of contrasting paper along the front as shown.
NOTE HOLDER ➊ Cover a 14cm square of thick board with patterned paper, folding the edges to the underside. Punch two holes in the top edge and thread with baker's twine to hang. ➋ Cut three pieces of board to 2cm x 9.5cm and fix together in a 'U' 58

shape. Take a 2.5cm x 13cm panel of board and measure 9.5cm along one edge and 3.5cm along the opposite edge. Slice diagonally from mark to mark to make two wedge-shaped pieces. Glue these to the front of the 'U'. ➌ Adorn the outside of the holder with pieces of patterned paper cut to size. Glue the finished holder to the centre of the covered square of board. Wrap a 4cm square of paper around a pencil, folding the ends out to make a horseshoe shape. Attach this below the holder so the pencil can be slipped inside. ➍ Cut flowers from patterned paper and fix to one side of the holder for decoration. Trim several 9cm square pieces of coloured paper and place inside the holder.

CORK BOARD ➊ To make for a 25cm x 30cm cork board, take a piece of thick board 2cm larger in both directions and remove the centre to make a 3cm wide frame. ➋ Cut several patterned papers into 4cm x 7cm pieces. Use these to cover the frame, glueing in place and trimming the length when necessary. Fold the edges to the reverse. ➌ Place the cork board centrally behind the frame and hold in place with wide masking tape. Tape a length of twine across the back of the frame for hanging. ➍ Hand cut circles and flowers from patterned paper.
