Elder Maxwell Cabble, Jr. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8 Elder Maxwell Cabble, Jr. was born November 27, 1963 in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Theresa Moore and Maxwell Cabble, Sr. Lovingly known as “Max”, he was reared in Alberta, Alabama. Having lost his mother at five months old and his father at ten years old, Max was raised and cared for by his first cousins, Joseph and Menda Pettway. At an early age, Max was taught to honor God, study and work hard, and to live uprightly. Max was also showered in love from his older sisters- Jo Celeste Pettway, Bernice Bell, Georgia Hutchinson and Charlotte Gamble as well as his older brother, Joseph Pettway. He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Joseph and Menda Pettway, and sister, Charlotte Gamble. Max was educated in the Tuskegee County School System having attended Keith High School in Alberta, Alabama and later graduating from Tuskegee Institute High School in Tuskegee, Alabama. Upon graduation from high school, Max attended Tuskegee Institute where he would major in architecture. He became a member of the historic Marching Crimson Pipers playing in the trumpet section. Max had an emphatic love for music and the band; and was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi Music Fraternity. Max would later relocate to Auburn, Alabama where he would meet the love of his life, the former Trina Houseworth. After two years of dating and moving to Atlanta, they would unite in holy matrimony in 1997. To this union, two children were born: Maxwell Cabble III and Naomi Alexus Cabble. Max and Trina now had three children, including, Iman Demetria Clark-Cabble, and together they would begin to raise their family. As a family, they enjoyed quiet evenings at home playing games and watching the latest movies. There were many things in Max’s life that gave him joy and one of those things was his business, Blue Lagoon Pool Service. Max founded Blue Lagoon in 2002 and this unique business venture provided him the opportunity to provide for his family while also mentoring other young men as they began entrepreneurial ventures. Max took great pride in Blue Lagoon and was honored to carry out the vision given to him by the Lord. Max professed his belief in God as a child and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Lonnie L. Brown at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Alberta, Alabama. He learned and understood the power of prayer, even as a young believer. Shortly after establishing his family in Atlanta, Max united with New Shield of Faith and later New Commandment Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Gerald Bess. Max had an earnest desire to serve God and to serve God’s people. He enjoyed singing praises to God and served with Psalmody, the praise and worship team. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2003 and later a minister in 2010. He believed in true worship and could always be found in sincere praise. Max had an infectious smile that warmed the hearts of many. He loved capturing memories by taking photos. He loved creating memories by spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed sports and could always be found cheering on his favorite sports teams- the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He desired to pour into others and often found time to coach and spend time with the youth of his church. He adored his wife and his children and if you knew Max, his love for them permeated through his very being.

Max honored the first commandment- he loved God with all his heart, his mind and his soul and until he took his last breath, he did as the psalmist declared: he blessed the Lord at all times. Maxwell Cabble, Jr. transitioned to his eternal home on August 19, 2021. He leaves to cherish his most precious memories, his wife of twenty-four years, Mrs. Trina Cabble; his three children, Iman Demetria Clark-Cabble, Maxwell “Trey” Cabble III and Naomi Alexus Cabble; siblings, Jo Celeste Pettway, Bernice Bell, Georgia Hutchinson and Joseph (Felecia) Pettway; nieces and nephews, Antoine (Kim), Joy, Michael, Kimberly Shanae, Adam, Anthony, Naadira Eshe’, Jamal, Kingston, Joseph, Jana Rae and Summer Sky; the New Commandment Christian Church Family; and a host of relatives and close friends.
