Karen Jayne joined The Open University to study the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) and the Certificate in Collective Investment Administration (CCIA). She has over 30 years’ experience in investment operations, including 7 years in offshore fund administration, and has held a variety of positions with local authorities, before joining FundRock Management Company S.A. as Head of Operations.

Karen explains: "I joined Fundrock with the expectation that I would be able to take on more responsibility with my existing knowledge and experience. However, Fundrock required staff to have either the IOC or CCIA qualification for the position I was looking for. I saw this as an opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to my career. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to study part-time or whether it would be too difficult alongside work, but my employer was very supportive which helped me make the decision to go ahead. The courses were relevant to my job which made studying easier and in particular I found the case studies very useful as they provided real life examples of various scenarios that you may come across in your daily work. My employer also supported me by providing a work placement where I was able to gain some valuable practical experience of collective investment schemes."
