Perspective

A Woman who Married to Fashion
http://dianepernet.typepad.com/diane/2011/08/liza-blakiston-arrives-in-sydney-direct-from-perth-and-takes-us-fora-visit-to-the-anna-schwartz-gal.html

How do you maintain a youthful heart and attitude in your work? When I first stepped into the industry, I remember hauling my makeup box around to different jobs and locations; now people look up to me as a mentor but I maintain a very prudent and modest attitude because I know there is so much talent out there, and that I am so lucky to be able to continue to do what I love. As people grow older, life and things around you change; what comes with age is the financial ability and experience to do things you couldn’t have done when you were young. However maintaing a cautious and conscientious mind and attitude is one principle that’s very important to me.
As people grow older, emotional changes are inevitable though, isn’t it? Staying young is an attitude; it’s answering to that urge inside of you without thinking too much about it. I don’t think I am limited by my age at all, but rather if you maintain an innocent heart, the more you will be able to see things with clarity, and the more you will be able to take that first step to do what your heart tells you to do. A lot of people ask me how I gathered enough courage to create my brand “CITTA”, but you know, I really didn’t think too much about it, I just knew I wanted to get it done.

Learning from experience is something we all go through and that purity we had as a child are replaced. It’s when you come to a fight or flight moment in your life that you realize as you age, you are able to overcome each obstacle without depressing over it like you used to as a child. Maintaining a youthful heart is rather maintaining that determination and drive to succeed and that drive is a very powerful and positive at-

titude to have.
What did you do ‘back in the day’? Dance parties and bowling were all very ‘in’ back in the day. There were a lot of popular bowling alleys back then like “Yuan-shan”, “Xing Xing”, and “Jia Jia”. Day time rates were always the cheapest so I’d often skip class to go bowl. I still held up average grades though. Nightclubs back then were a lot different than the ones today. Around 1974, the hippest spots in Taipei were “Diana”, “The Hilton Hotel”, “Kiss”, and the “Mandarin Crown Hotel”. All the young people back then would look forward to the weekend to go dancing; no-one went to nightclubs to drink or to meet girls, but rather to just purely have a good time dancing. I used to go to IR Cafe and TU Cafe as well. We’d all dress up and just sit there all day, chatting with good friends. It used to be a fashionable hangout, literally. It feels a lot different than the East Side today.
Speaking of fashion, how is the fashion and music of today different than that of the past? Bell bottoms. No matter what, you had to have bell bottoms or flared pants. There weren’t many name brands back then, and young people would just take what they see on TV or in foreign magazines and get it mimicked and tailor made at Ximending; they’d then wear it to nightclubs to show it off.Grunge was very popular back then as well. Everyone had their own unique style and they weren’t afraid to mix and match. Nowadays the styles you see in the market are not very different from each other and

everyone looks pretty much the same. The interesting and fun parts of fashion have sort of disappeared. Unlike the informational age of today, if you wanted news of the latest Western music or the latest tracks, you had to go to Ximending’s record stores to find it or hit-up the nightclubs to hear what the DJs are playing. I used to spend tons of money buying vi-

nyls by artists like Tom Jones, Donna Summer, KC and the Sunshine Band, Diana Ross, and Elton John. People can get everything too easily now, and thus indulge in wasteful and unappreciative behavior. This is what I do not like about the youthful attitude of the modern day.
Beauty and youth never seem to leave each other; what do you think about plastic surgery? Just know when to stop. I believe people naturally are attracted to beauty, and as technology advancements are made, it’s becoming easier and easier to seemingly make time stop. However before you make any surgical changes to yourself, you should ask whether it is necessary, as I believe that what makes you unique is what makes you beautiful. 13

An individual’s most dear and fond memories are not having any care in the world and living life in the moment.

Too young to die
Samuel Ullman Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a tempera-mental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust. Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young. When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.

Youthfulness should not be determined through physical attributes or the absence of wrinkles on one’s face, but rather it should be epitomized through a constant anticipation for adventure, an infinite amount of curiosity, and having a child-like spirit installed into one’s everyday life. This is Roger Zheng’s definition of being “forever young”. Some people say, we spend half our lives trying to mature ourselves, but then spend the other half trying to get back our childhood innocence. If this is true, then everyone’s life should consist of “two” periods of adolescence, right?

Love to love you baby ,還 有 KC and sunshine band,Diana Ross,和 Elton John,都在當時的必買名單裡。

Roger
It’s when you come to a fight or flight momentin your life that you realize as you age, you are able to overcome each obstacle without depressing over it like you used to as a child. Maintaining a youthful heart is rather maintaining that determination and drive to succeed and that drive is a very powerful and positive attitude to have. Nowadays the styles you see in the market are not very different from each other and everyone looks pretty much the same. The interesting and fun parts of fashion have sort of disappeared. Unlike the informational age of today, if you wanted news of the latest Western music or the latest tracks, you had to go to Ximending’s record stores to find it or hit-up the nightclubs to hear what the DJs are playing. I used to spend tons of money buying vinyls by artists like Tom Jones, Donna Summer, KC and the Sunshine Band, Diana Ross, and Elton John.

With the curly-do of a prince, a fresh-crisp smile, and the physique of a magnificent dancer, Chuang Shih-Hsien leaves a bold and lasting impression on everyone he meets. At the age of 12, Chuang ventured to England where he began self-discovering the art of dance. At age 14 he entered London’s Royal Academy of Dance, and at age 19 graduated and joined the Hungarian National Ballet. Chuang never fails to surprise everyone with his vitality and optimism, which is especially rare considering the countless hours of intense practice and physical endurance that he has undergone. Having spent 8 years of his youth in London, Chuang learnt to be independent and to do things on his own. “I didn’t know how to speak English at first, but had to do everything myself. It was simple things though, like if I were hungry, ofcourse I’d have to go find food and cook. I didn’t have much time to think too much about things then, but looking back now I was so young but had to quickly learn how to survive on my own.” Besides the occasional venture to the theatre or musical show, Chuang spent most of his time rehearsing at school. It may seem like a mundane life to most people, but to Chuang life abroad was full of color. Everyone in Europe seemed to find joy in dressing up for a performance, or to have tea with friends. Even just watching TV and cheering for your favorite football team seemed as an embrace to the simple joys of life. In Europe, art is engrained in people’s lives and has become a habitual part of their daily routine; To Chuang, merely living in Europe made him feel like life was rich and full of adventure. After 10 years in Europe, Chuang returned to Taipei and now teaches at his mother’s dance studio He still participates in many performances and continues to bring a young and motivated spirit to his craft of dance. Ballet to Chuang is like a rose to a prince, it defines who he is and everything he continues to strive to be.
