Life sciences come to life in Palm Beach County. On the Jupiter campus of Florida Atlantic University, the world-renowned Max Planck Florida Institute (MPFI) is deepening the understanding of the central nervous system and enabling the discovery of better treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Next door, Scripps Florida, a division of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, explores biomedical science, drug discovery and research technology applications. Its researchers have generated more than 100 patent applications and four spinoff companies, and have attracted more than $188 million in grant money and outside funding.
