to enjoy the county’s stellar and award-winning offerings in music, visual arts and live theatre. he county’s cultural offerings serve everyone from the youngest visitors—thanks to the robust educational initiatives embedded into the organizations’ mission statements—to retired patrons seeking intellectual nourishment.

TThe arts reverberate countywide. The Palm Beaches boast their own version of Shakespeare in the Park, the free Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, every summer in Jupiter, while the major arts season—October through April, roughly—welcomes world-class lecturers in the picturesque buildings of the Society of the Four Arts; locally curated and nationally touring art exhibitions at venues like the Norton Museum; plays, operas and ballets from the region’s most talented artists; and one of the country’s most influential fairs for contemporary art, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, returning in March 2023 in downtown West Palm Beach.

Our museums are second to none, celebrating modern art, prizewinning photography and local history, and offering invaluable edutainment for visitors of all ages and artistic preferences. But not all visual art is housed in museums; thanks to the county’s public art initiatives, some of the most striking works in the county are the murals brightening downtown, and making for great Instagram backdrops.

Local professional theatre companies include Palm Beach Dramaworks, which stages classic and contemporary masterpieces from the glittering Don & Ann Brown Theatre in West Palm Beach; and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, which produces classic and contemporary plays and musicals in its recently upgraded theater near Jupiter Beach. The Kravis Center, celebrating its 30th anniversary this season, presents touring Broadway musicals and plays host to the esteemed Palm Beach Opera and Miami City Ballet, two regional organizations with national reach.
