PastorJoeHayes.com Joe & Lizzie’s News Bits For DCF December 2010 What a fantastic and sad month November has been for DCF: Baptisms; a tremendous insight into the work of our DCC (Dudley Counselling Centre); baby Jeremiah being dedicated to the Lord; lots of new people coming; a stream of shoe boxes that will be carrying a wonderful blessing to children all over the world have passed through DCF and, best of all, the presence of God in our services has been awesome! I know it’s sad when one from among us passes away, and it’s right and proper to grieve that loss. We know for certain that Cyril has gone to be with the Lord and we’ll meet him again one day. Carol Services Sun 19 & 22 As you know, we are having two carol services this year, something new. Well, Christmas is a time when many nonchristians come to Church, so we are creating more opportunities to share the Gospel story with people. So many people have put so much work into these events- the children taking part and some brave adults also up there- we should and will be so proud of them. We are following the theme, “This is your life, Jesus.” I am sure many of you remember the program. We’ll have a few surprise guests coming and some live video links with those who can’t make it. My big encouragement to you is to bring your guests. We have provided some quality invitations for you to use. I know it’s going to be a fantastic night, whichever one you come to or even if you come to both. Christmas Day Service 10:30 11:30am This day is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. I feel it is really important that we give thanks to God for Jesus on this day. So we’ll break bread together, the children can show some of their gifts and, of course, they’ll take them back home, unless I really like them! So I really encourage you to be there.
Indeep Last In deep we covered the period of Kings and Prophets, in and out of Captivity. It is amazing to see the hand of God at work in times of suffering. Numbers were very low and I really want DCF to be a fellowship that understands the WORD, which Sets Free and Sanctifies. Next In deep will not be until Jan 20th 2011, due to the many Christmas preparations. Our next one will be Sunday 23rd Jan at 6pm. I plan to meet with the team asap to begin working together on the planning of these events. Team Tea Time The importance of being one in mission and purpose is so important to any organisation, more so the church, because God commands unity. Team Tea Time is an opportunity to share and understand the many groups and activities that happen at DCF. At the first event it was just fantastic to hear what people are doing and level of commitment they have to serving God, His Church and the Dudley Community Sermon Downloads It is encouraging that so many are making use of this service to you. Lye Victory Home I had an opportunity to go along and meet these chaps, whose lives have so tremendously been touched by God. I am sure you have seen some of them with us on a Sunday. They are taking a service for us on the 16th Jan 2011. I am certain their stories are going to reveal the glory and wonder of God’s amazing grace to transform lives. Care Homes I went along with the team one night, to the Nelson Home. What a fantastic group of people representing DCF. Keith and the team just loved these people so much, that it blessed me just to watch. I sang songs that I had not sung for 30 years and was amazed that I could remember almost every word. Keep praying for this team, as they touch these precious lives with the love of God and bring the presence of Jesus into these Care Homes. WOW As you know, the DCF ladies are having another get together on Friday 3rd Dec in the
Centre. This time it’s an “Exceedingly Good……. Pudding Party.” I wish I could go- I bet there will be cheese cake! Just an advanced notice WOW will be doing a Curry Night for Men on Friday 28th Jan 2011 New Teams Next year we will be having a few new teams, a Welcome Team to meet and greet you and to welcome and look after new visitors to DCF also a Prayer Ministry Team for Sunday Services is being formed as we speak. The Church Pastoral team is being increased to serve and support you. And new home groups will begin in the day time. More info to follow. Money Management Debt is a major social problem, DCF will be running a course to enable people to manage their money well, more information coming soon. A Final Wee Word. When I came to Dudley 3 months ago I was asking God how I should go forward with DFC, I felt God say to me that “I was to grow with you and not try to force anything in the hope that it will work.” DCF is a church that is growing numerically and of course spiritually. I continue to feel I should focus ministry around “Living Loving & Laughing.” Summing up the kind of church I feel God has shaped and is shaping DCF to be is a Church that LOVES GOD LOVES PEOPLE & LOVES LIFE. Can I really encourage you to look around DCF and identify the evidence that we LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE & LOVE LIFE. I would really like to encourage you to Love Life. We are all too busy, even the retired are too busy. God has made us to enjoy all the good stuff he has created and to enjoy it together. Lets do more meals together, let do coffee (Starbucks) even a few cheese cakes. I am still hoping and praying that some people with a desire to create fun will come forward to take on this vital ministry for the church and coordinate corporate activities for the whole church.
