GENERAL CONDITIONS

Confidentiality:

These Performance Requirements / General Conditions are an integral part of the Melia Resorts Signage Standards Manual which is referred herein as the “Design Intent Drawings”. The entity responsible for the manufacture, construction, production and implementation, their agents, sub-contractors to be referred to herein as the “Manufacturer” is responsible for all aspects of fabrication identified in this document. Any exclusions or substitutions to this document or to the Design Intent Drawings must be stated in writing to Melia Resorts, herein referred to as the “Owner” and/or the Owner’s designated representative.

Care must be taken to not leave drawings in view such that they may be seen by unauthorized parties. The Manufacturer and their subcontractors are responsible for carefully maintaining possession of all drawing and associated information (electronic or hard copy) and may be held accountable for damages that result from disclosure of confidential information

All ideas, designs, arrangements and plans indicated or presented by these drawings are owned by and are the property of the Owner, and were created, evolved and developed for use on and in connection with the specific project. None of such ideas, designs, arrangements or plans shall be used by or disclosed to any person, ﬁrm, or corporation for any purpose whatsoever without the written permission of Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative. Owner may have additional requirements or restrictions for which the Manufacturer is also responsible. Specifications of materials and methods for this project are included in these Design Intent Drawings. Manufacturers shall provide all engineering required by a licensed engineer to meet the performance intent of the Design Intent Drawings and respective specifications for each and all sign types illustrated, and will meet or exceed all local, state and national codes.

QUALITY ASSURANCE Quality of Workmanship: The Manufacturer shall be responsible for the quality and delivery of all materials and workmanship required for the execution of the contract including the materials and workmanship of any ﬁrms or individuals who act as his or her sub-contractors. Manufacturers shall be responsible for providing subcontractors with complete and up-to-date drawings, performance and material requirements, graphic schedules and other information issued by the Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative. Performance: The Manufacturer shall base his or her proposal on the performance of all services, including all items of labor, material and equipment required to complete fabrication and installation of specified work within the time frame agreed by the Manufacturer and the Owner.

This manual is intended to be printed on A3 paper. Printing on alternate size paper will render the indicated scale of the drawings incorrect.

Dimensions: All measurements in this document are millimeters unless otherwise specified. Imperial dimensions are provided for ease of reference only, and should not be used for construction purposes. Written dimensions on the drawings shall take precedence over scaled dimensions. Manufacturer shall verify and be responsible for all dimensions and conditions shown by these drawings.

The acceptance of these drawings by vendor, bidders, Manufacturers, or Manufacturer and their agents constitutes agreement to the following conditions:

Messaging: Copy indicated on all signs is for reference only and should be reviewed with the Owner prior to application.

Design Intent Drawings are for the sole purpose of design intent only and not intended for construction purposes.

The large scale details shall take precedence over the small scale drawings.

Resulting working drawings, shop drawings and contract documents including permit documents are the sole responsibility of the Manufacturer in every respect.

Execution: Manufacturer shall notify the Owner and/ or the Owner’s designated representative of any discrepancies in the drawings, in field dimensions or conditions, and/ or changes required in construction details. Problems such as messages being too long to fit into the required formats, difficulty accurately reproducing logo or logotype components, etc., must be brought to the attention of the Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative prior to execution. It is required that the Manufacturer not resolve any discrepancies without consulting the Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative.

The Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative shall review the shop drawings only for conformance with general design intent, and will in no way be responsible or liable for any results of construction from working drawings, material selection, shop drawings, contract documents or any other agreement other than agreement with Owner authorizing these documents. Any changes requested by the Owner after this document has been completed will be considered additional services.

Manufacturer’s Recommendations: The Manufacturer shall carefully study the detail drawings and make recommendations for changes if those changes improve the quality of any fabrication. The Owner anticipates that the Manufacturer will be able to make value added recommendations that improve quality, reduce cost and accelerate production time frames - such “value engineering” recommendations are desired. Such recommendations and changes including any changes in contract amount shall be approved in writing by the Owner and/or the Owner’s designated representative prior to preparation of shop drawings or fabrication.

Labeling: Only labels that are required by regulation (e.g., UL listed) may be added to the signs and should be placed in an inconspicuous as possible manner as allowed by these regulations. Stock: All materials, hardware, electrical components, finishes, etc. used to fabricate any and all components shall be “NEW” original manufacturer’s run/supply and appropriately matched to the service conditions required of the site. Reuse of existing components must be approved by the Owner.

Artwork: Electronic artwork as required by the Manufacturer for symbols or custom designed graphic components (i.e., logos, logo types, arrows or patterns) will be provided in electronically in vector formate and should not be altered. All image scaling without distortion is the responsibility of the Manufacturer. Note: Any artwork required beyond electronic artwork noted above (i.e., additional custom copy layouts, formatting for other platform(s), linotronic output, or copying to other media, etc.) will be billed to the Manufacturer on a time and materials basis by Brand On. Brand On cannot provide copies of licensed fonts. UL Compliance: Complete UL, or approved nationally recognized testing agency, compliance, as required is the responsibility of the Manufacturer. Manufacturer shall provide lighting fixtures and electrical components that meet all UL testing lab requirements for safety, operation, and construction. Fixtures and components must be UL-labeled and listed and shall indicate locations and electrical service required for review by the Owner and/ or the Owner’s designated representative unless noted otherwise. Manufacturer is responsible for all final electrical connections and if required by local regulations by licensed electrician. Light Emission: All lighting fixtures/sources shall emit a color balanced, consistent and uniform light with no browning, flickering, haloing, or any other uneven effect. Unintended “light leaks”, “hot spots” or uneven illumination will be considered defects and the product not accepted. The “color temperature” (kelvin) of the light produced shall be consistent with the manufacturer’s parameters of the specified components. Electrical Hardware: All transformers, LED power supplies, and electrical hardware, ballasts, etc. shall be concealed, non-audible and non-visible to pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Provide disconnect switch if required by governing agencies.

Service brands are used solely on signs that identify the specific upscale services and amenities across a given property. Service brands are not to be used on directional signs. When a service needs to be listed on a directional sign it is to be done so in accordance with Typography and Bilingual Messaging. Resort interior and exterior signage uses Obscura or Clara print on panel finish to reflect the two options for signage schemes, and as selected are to be consistent across the whole of an individual property. The Urban scheme uses brushed aluminum as its signage substrate. The exceptions to this are special identification signs, exterior totem directional signs, and fire safety signage.

Primary Site Identifcation signs are amongst the most important application of our brand identity. They are the first thing guests see as they arrive on site. Primary Site Identifcation signs are located at all the main entrances to the Resort and are to be integrated with a landscape architecture. The unique features of the main site identification signs are the use of logo elements against a wall finished with coralina stone. Brands are to be applied as reverse pan channel aluminum letters with halo illumination, painted in accordance with respective brand colours. Electrical and power supply is to be concealed within mounting surface, and is to be cooridinated with landscape architect in advance of construction.

Surface The final result is a very nice mat surface ranging from just a background color and text to an allcovering photo. The edge of the panels appears elegantly with the black core as the dominating expression. Basic Steel Modulex Basic Steel is more expensive than Modulex Basic Bond. First of all, the price of the plate is higher because it has been given a polished stainless steel look on the one side. Furthermore, the direction of polishing has to be taken into account when nesting the plates to prevent the panels from turning 90° to minimize waste. Finally, the POP process is significantly slower as the panels always need a printed white layer under the ordered graphics or text. Logistics ATTENTION! For both products it is recommended that the graphics for each single panel is created separately by use of the templates that you can find in Modulex Product Handbook. If this is not the case and we receive an AI file with a number of panels in one file it is MANDATORY that you use the template as base for each panel. At least each panel needs the panel shape and actual panel size from the template placed in the correct layer. It is not possible to order other texting technics as foil for these products and layers in the AI file for these technics will be ignored. If no AI files are delivered with the order it will not be released into production.

As a natural consequence of the development within the POP technologies, Modulex is now introducing a new interior sign assortment called Basic Bond and Basic Steel. The assortment is based on very basic sign products characterized mainly by text and graphics. The material used is 3 mm sandwich plates and a separate production flow. The assortment is supplementing the existing Modulex assortment very well and is well suited for projects with cut-throat pricing. Material and process The panels are made from 3 mm thick sandwich plates with a PE-core (polyethylene) and a covering layer of 0.3 mm aluminum. Modulex Basic Bond is painted on both sides with a white polyester paint and subsequently by means of the POP technology covered with the specified color, graphics and text. The print process is very rational: The panels are placed digitally on a full plate (1250 x 2500) and then printed. This allows the most optimal printing speed and the lowest possible price. To make it possible to deliver a single panel or a just a few panels for a given order, more orders are keyed into the system after which the software automatically places the panels on the plate ensuring as little waste as possible. This process is called “nesting”. Each individual panel is now cut out of the big plate. Finally, the panels are sorted, packed with the mounting tape and shipped.

Limitations The POP technology is continuously developing; there is, however, still a negligible risk that two identical panels produced at different times may vary in color tones. Normally, this will only be visible if the two panels are placed very close to each other. A claim will only be allowed in case of a strikingly visible difference in for instance a background color on panels delivered in the same delivery. Very small tolerances are incorporated in the process and we therefore recommend omitting graphic elements along the edges of the panels to avoid small displacements of the print compared to the panel.

Standard features and options Warranty:

The supplementation guarantee applies to all articles that are produced, marketed and delivered by Modulex. Within 10 years of delivery by Modulex of products for a main or first order, Modulex guarantees to be able to make supplementary deliveries of products with a similar functionality and design (shape, color, typography and graphics) as delivered under the main order, unless otherwise specifically stated in Modulex’ offer or order confirmation. As for digital products, the guaranteed supplementary period is only three years following delivery of main order by Modulex. As for third party products, Modulex grants the same supplementary guarantee as the producer.

Compass - Dimensioning & Concrete Foundation

Dimensioning:

In connection with dimensioning of Compass exterior post and panel signs there are several factors to be considered. First of all the type of leg as well as installation method (ground sleeve or concrete) must be decided and the wind load conditions should be taken into consideration. In general a strong leg allows a large sign. A concrete foundation instead of a ground sleeve has the same effect. Finally, there is the wind load. A climate with gentle winds makes it possible to create larger sign surfaces, just as locations under shelter or near vegetation give increased opportunities.

The chapter Installation contains a document, which describes the wind load issue in details in relation to Compass as well as Pacific Exterior. The document describes how to determine the actual wind load category.

The chapter Wind Load includes all information about dimensioning of Compass post and panel signs. A chart has been prepared for each of the 9 different wind load categories (A1 - C3). Each chart shows the fixed maximum total panel sizes in combination with various legs and installation methods. The chapter comprises post and panel signs with 2 and 3 legs.

In connection with post and panel signs on 1 leg only, i.e. projecting signs on leg, centre panels on leg or a leg with a combination of projecting and centre panels, the wind load is not important. The below calculations of maximum sign sizes can thus be used under all conditions.

The below table shows L and B in relation to concrete foundation when 3 legs in Ø=90 mm are used: MODULE 500 = sign width 500 mm x 2 sections). Foundation size (measured in mm) Module 500 mm

Centre and projecting panels:

Projecting panels: Ground sleeve can be used if the sign panel area does not exceed 4000 cm2 (max. 5 panels). Centre panels: Ground sleeve can be used if the sign panel area does not exceed 4800 cm2.

If concrete foundation is used in accordance with the below drawing, the sign panel area can be increased accordingly. The drawing shows the dimensions.

Sign constructions (only Ø=90 mm) with 3 legs:

Use of chemical bolts in foundation after delivery of sign:

All Compass post and panel signs can be fitted with chemical bolts. The concrete foot is used as template for drilling of holes.

Casting of bolts in foundation prior to delivery of sign:

In the chapter "Part Drawings" you will find detailed information about the placing of holes in the various concrete feet so that the bolts can be placed correctly in the foundation. The below drawing is used when the distance between the legs are calculated. The chart shows the distance from centre of leg to panel. The distance from leg to leg is calculated by means of the following formula: Panel width (both standard and XY) + distance from centre of the leg to panel for both legs (may be different). Example: Module width 1600 mm + 56 mm + 56 mm (for Ø=90 mm) = 1712 mm.

Concrete foundation: In most cases the concrete foundation described in the below chart will be sufficient, but it must be underlined that the chart is only meant as a guide, and that Modulex cannot be held responsible for conditions in relation to concrete foundations. Local conditions should always be thoroughly evaluated.

Post and panel signs with 2 legs:

The drawing illustrates that the height of the foundation is always 1000 mm. L=length and B=width is variable in relation to the chosen leg (strong legs allow large signs) and the sign width. L & B appear from the below chart (MODULE 500

Compass - Post & Panel Sign Post and panel (25 mm) signs can be composed by several elements: There are 5 different posts, see survey. The posts can be mounted in ground sleeves or on concrete foot. The chosen example is a plane panel mounted on a 70 mm post. 25 mm plane panels are available in front interchangeable version. It is important to avoid overload. Please see survey of post heights / maximum sign area.

Compass - Flag Sign - Mounting & Assembly Mounting Option A

Assembly

Material: All parts are made of aluminium. Assembling unit is stainless steel. Surface Treatment: All visible parts are painted with oven-hardening polyester paint. Standard Colours: MODULEX standard colours. The colour of the aluminium end clips follows the panel colour. Assortment: 100 and 120 mm high panels. See Order List. Only for Ø=70 mm post without tracks. Mounting Option A: Mounting Option B: Comments: End clips are flat. Please order panel and mounting unit. Assembling unit is meant for vertical alignment of panels. Please order separated

Panels and posts are made of aluminium. Top cover for post is injection moulded Pocan. Ground sleeves are made of steel. All aluminium parts are painted with oven-hardening polyester paint. The ground sleeve is galvanised and the coupling profile is anodised. Panels are available in MODULEX standard colours. Coupling profile is black.

Post and panel signs with Ø=70 mm posts can be fitted with bridging tube. It is possible to fit a light cap on all posts.
