Aluminum Cabinet Exterior: - Apply finish per paint manufacturer's specifications. - One part touch up paint shall be shipped with each sign for touch-up during installation. Illuminated Aluminum Cabinet Interior: - Apply a Spraylat Sign Coatings (800.443.0244), Star-Brite White #B70399 solvent based finish to the interior of the sign cabinet. Steel Sign Components: - Prime with one coat of Devcon Z iron oxide primer or approved equivalent. - Finish coat on steel parts in illuminated portion of sign cabinets shall be white gloss polyurethane. - Apply one coat iron oxide primer to the sign pole concealed inside the sign cabinet. Finish coat is not required. - Apply one coat iron oxide primer to the sign pole exposed to view and a finish coat. Electrical Components: - Mask all electrical components before painting. Hardware: - All exposed fasteners shall be painted to match the surrounding surfaces, unless otherwise noted. Drying Times: - See paint manufacturer's specifications for drying times. Quality Control: - Surfaces with drips, runs, orange peeling, streaks, etc. will not be accepted. - Prepare signs for shipment so that the painted surfaces are protected from damage. - Scratched surface may be touched up in the field if the scratch does not exceed 1 inch in width and 2 inches in length. - Damage that extends under a painted surface such as dents shall be replaced with a new part with a factory finish. Field Touch up following Sign Installation: - Feather touch up to match adjacent surfaces. Use airbrush unless prohibited by government regulations.

Electrical Power and Lighting

Scope: - Manufacturer shall supply all required electrical components to assure fully working signs that comply with all state, local and national codes. Codes: - All work shall be comply with the National Electrical Code, U.L. & U.L. 2161, all other governing codes and as detailed and specified in the T-Mobile Design Intent Drawings. Service Entrance: - Manufacture shall provide a remote service disconnect at each illuminated sign so that the electrical power can be interrupted for servicing and maintenance. Time Control Units, Photoelectric Control Units and Single Channel Electronic Time Control Units Must Be: - UL Listed and UL Compliant - Capacity and certifications shall meet all governing code requirements. - Indoor/outdoor lockable enclosure. - Power outage carry-over shall maintain time and program for minimum of 7 days. Photoelectric Control Unit: - Photo Control enclosure shall be constructed of die cast zinc and gasketed for weather protection. - Cell shall be epoxy coated cadmium sulfide, 1 inch in diameter. - Contacts shall be normally closed, and fail in the "On" position. - Photo Control shall withstand temperatures between minus 40 to 140 degrees F. - Unit shall have three color-coded, 6 inch wire leads, #16 AWG, rated for 105 degrees F. - Photo Control shall be mounted flush with the sign surface. - Where available, connect signs to existing time control units and/or photoelectric control units. - Where existing sign circuits are not controlled by a time control unit but are controlled by a photoelectric control unit, connect the sign(s) to these circuits. Provide time control units for the sign circuits. - Where an existing sign circuit with a time control units or photoelectric control unit is not available, provide a time control unit or photoelectric control unit at each sign location. The photoelectric control unit shall be integrated with the sign structure. - The time control unit shall control power to the sign circuit. Set the "On Time" and the "Off Time" per Owner's instructions.

- The photoelectric control unit shall switch on the sign at dusk and the time control unit shall override the photoelectric control unit at the selected "Off Time". Permits: - Manufacturer shall obtain all required permits for electrical work. UL Label: - All work and materials shall comply with Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) standards including UL 2161 for safety of electrical signs. All electrical sign cabinets shall bear the UL Label. Label to be placed inconspicuously wherever possible. Ballast Mount and Raceway Access: - All ballast and raceways shall be mounted to comply with all UL standards (including UL 2161) and be easily accessible for servicing and maintenance. Workmanship: - Install all electrical components in a neat and organized manner. Testing: - Test all illuminated signs after installation to assure proper operation.

Typical Primary Sign 1

Use solid light or dark gray awning material (with no square pattern applied) when a Primary Sign such as CL. or CLR. are in close proximity. Typically, the awning color is determined by the color of channel letters. (e.g. dark gray channel Letters, uses matching dark gray awning material.)
