Robbery by Robe standing points, at length. First, it clearly has the right to present the constitutional claims of its own citizens, who “have the right to demand that all other States abide by the constitutionally set rules in appointing presidential electors to the electoral college.”

Second, Texas made a sound argument that it has, because of how the Constitution is structured, “a distinct interest in who is elected Vice President and thus who can cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate.”

Last, Texas argued it has standing to sue on behalf of the state’s “electors” who suffer an injury when other states don’t follow the Constitution. The Electoral College, it argued, “is a zero-sum game,” so

n 1980, the Canadian rock band Rush recorded “Freewill,” which includes one of the most memorable and important lines ever sung: If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

The stuffed Robes sitting on the United States Supreme Court should have listened to that song, before, during, and after their Constitutional law classes, and taken it to heart before refusing to hear the recent Texas lawsuit. By not hearing it, the justices made a choice. They waded neck-deep into politics. They chose sides. They voted against you. T hey voted against the clear meaning of the Constitution.

They may have forever altered and ruined our Republic. This is not hyperbole.

On December 8, 2020, the Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton (R), filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court to challenge the presidential election results in four states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Michigan. The suit argued many things, but the foundational elements were grounded not in allegations of on-the-ground fraud (though examples were provided) but on violations of the Electors, Equal Protection, and Due Process clauses of the U. S. Constitution.

Most Americans focus on the sensational claims of fraud, which is good for one thing: convincing the general public that the election was tainted. Public opinion is important.

But the Electors Clause is the entire game, and most Americans don’t know its basic rules and don’t even know that this game was (and is) being played.

Article II, Section I, Clause 2 of the Constitution (the Electors Clause), in part, reads as follows: Each State shall appoint, in such

Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors…

This means one thing: the legislatures of each state have plenary power to dictate the manner in which elections will be conducted within their state. There is no dispute in the legal literature on this point.

In the above four swing states (and a few others), it was not the legislatures that removed signature requirements, counting deadlines, the requirement of postmarks, et al. It was state courts, secretaries of state, mayors, ward managers, and others.

Some of these changes were rubberstamped by state courts stuffed with Democrat appointees who rebuffed challenges by the legislatures and others seeking to enforce their constitutional role in accordance with the Electors Clause.

The Chattering Class immediately mocked the Texas case and lied to the American people. Again.

They asserted that Texas had no “standing” to file such a case, and the lawsuit was asking the Supreme Court to declare Joe Biden’s electoral

victory unconstitutional—and thus throw out millions of votes.

Neither was true.

Standing essentially asks whether the party filing suit can demonstrate to the court a sufficient connection to, and harm from, the actions alleged in the complaint to support that party’s participation in the case.

West Texas Pro-Life Update

Lubbock, TX On December 15th, 2020, the Lubbock City Council passed a resolution accepting Lubbock citizens’ request to hold a referendum to vote for or against the proposed Sanctuary City for the Unborn Ordinance.

This ceremonial resolution began the next phase of the Sanctuary City movement in Lubbock.

While previous efforts focused on pressuring the city council to consider and pass the ordinance, now the pro-life advocates must reach out to individual voters within the city limits.

This referendum will be the culmination of many tireless hours of work on the part of the Initiating Committee.

The Lubbock City Council was reluctant even to consider the ordinance.

In fact, they only considered it once a group of concerned Lubbock citizens,

including State Senator Charles Perry, gathered over 5,000 signatures for an official petition as per the Lubbock City Charter. This petition forced the Council to discuss the ordinance and to host a public hearing. After the City Council inevitably voted the ordinance down, the Initiating Committee of the petition had twenty days to file for a referendum with the city.

The ordinance was widely criticized by the City Council as being unconstitutional, which many councilmen claimed as their reason for voting against the ordinance. The City Council sought legal aid from Olson & Olson law firm, a firm with ties to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Contrarily, the Council refused the free legal counsel of Jonathan Mitchell, former Solicitor General of Texas and law clerk to the late Justice Thank you to all of our clients!

The City Council’s actions have cost and will cost the Lubbock taxpayers.

The price of Olson & Olson and the special election cost would have been avoided if the Council had voted in favor of the ordinance and accepted the free legal aid from Mr. Mitchell.

Now that the Lubbock City Council has passed a resolution to accept the referendum request, the voters of Lubbock, Texas, will have the opportunity to make their voices heard on May 1st, 2021. In the recent 2020 election cycle, the citizens of Lubbock County (which contains Lubbock City) voted around two-thirds in favor of Donald Trump over Joe Biden for president and in favor of Republican John Cornyn over Democrat MJ Hegar for senator.

Ackerly, TX On December 1st, 2020, the small town of Ackerly, Texas, became the seventeenth city to pass the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance. As the ordinance was being considered, Mayor Scott Ragle said to the Ackerly councilmen, “All of y’all have taken an oath to protect this little town.” While some have criticized Ackerly’s move as pointless due to Ackerly’s low population (251), Ragle and the other city councilmen took preventative steps to avoid becoming the “Los Ybanez of abortions.” Los Ybanez is a tiny town (population 9) formed outside

of Lamesa, Texas, to bypass Lamesa’s dry county laws.

Odessa, TX Odessa, Texas, is on the radar for the Sanctuary City movement. In a runoff election on December 15th, 2020, Odessa citizens elected a new mayor, Javier Joven, and two new councilmen, all of whom have voiced support for the Sanctuary City Ordinance. It is now projected that the Odessa council will have a majority in favor of the ordinance. Odessa and Midland, Texas, are the two prominent cities in the Permian Basin. It is expected that the Sanctuary City Ordinance will be making its way to Midland for discussion soon.

A Final Note During the Lubbock City hearing for the ordinance, many of the councilmen appealed to their oaths of office to defend the Constitution. Seemingly, the Lubbock councilmen were able to find a right to abortion in the Constitution that the Ackerly councilmen were unable to see. in fact, the Ackerly councilmen also appealed to their oaths. It seems that the Ackerly councilmen were focused on the right to life that current, but flawed, Supreme Court precedent denies. However, the Lubbock councilmen believed that upholding the Constitution meant upholding bad precedent.

The Texas GOP has recently added the following statement to its platform: “We support the right of Texas municipalities to protect mothers and preborn children in their communities by passing enforceable city ordinances that ban abortions and abortion industry businesses within their city limits.”

Land of the Free Home of the Brave

When I think of the brave men and women who fought and the many who died in the wars to defeat the Fascists, Imperialists, and Communists, I’m certain a new battle has begun to do it all over again. That battle is once again to maintain freedom in America and the world.

However, I’m sickened by many who fought in those battles are now aiding and abetting the enemy we all in the military took an oath to defend against.

They dishonor, disgrace, and discredit the Rosie the Riveter gals and all those who could not go off to war but had to sacrifice in every way to do their part.

Even the kids would collect newspapers and tires, scrap metal, and any other commodity to help with the war effort.

“Uncle Sam Needs YOU” posters were taken seriously by us all in those perilous days of my youth.

Even in the advertised unjust war in Vietnam, communism was still the target. That war was waged for a just cause, to defeat Socialist, Marxist, and Communist philosophy from spreading and especially how it would affect “We the people” in America.

That common philosophy is still the enemy today, and uninformed or willfully ignorant people are promoting it.

They see it as the new age and time to establish a one-world order.

In 1969, Senator Joe McCarthy took on the battle to expose and defeat those “Pinko’s” as they were referred to.

They were sympathizers of the communist movement and were called before the House Un-American Activities Committee. They consisted of infiltrators and many from the Hollywood crowd, which is true again today. The many hearings were held back then to rat out the traitors. Senator McCarthy is missing now, but there are other patriots who are fighting the good fight by and for the guys in the “White Hats.”

The treasonous deception of those on the left is being bought into by too many, including those who should know better because they were there.

They are making a big mistake, and America cannot allow them to succeed.

But the treason of those in the government on the left is the true enemy of the state. It is they who are promoting the communist movement of today.

However, what is especially encouraging is that we’re seeing the emergence in America to preserve the American way of life. Trump and other American patriots know they must fight again to protect and defend the Constitution of this great land. There is also a parallel movement to invoke Article V of the US Constitution to reign in an out of control government.

That document, the US Constitution, was given to us by our founders to protect this Republic, but we’ve had to fight to keep it inviolable and must be vigilant, or we’ll lose it. As a people, we have struggled and died in defense of the principles behind the great documents of our founding. It is a rich heritage and never so necessary a part of the arsenal needed to defeat

the evil we face once again. But if good men were to do nothing, it would be a sad day for the light of the world – America, which is that city on a hill that has been a beacon of light to all those “tired and poor and huddled masses yearning to breathe free”. America is the last bastion of the peace and liberty we all inherently seek. It is that place of refuge from the storms of life, a safe harbor from the great evil suffered all over the world.

Of course, the reference to the huddled masses is in the inscription on the base of the Statue of Liberty. The liberty we are now engaged in a war to protect.

We have come too far to give up or give in to the deceit of the rich and powerful who struggle every day to retain and grow their wealth and power.

The Bill and Melinda Gates’ and the George Soros’ of the world are all-in and determined to pull off a coup that would give them control of the whole world. Pretty ambitious, wouldn’t you say? But these are not new evil folks.

ATTENTION: Texas Legislature

T

his month (January), the Texas State Legislature will begin meeting for legislation. We need to act immediately and contact each one of our State representatives and senators. It is imperative that they put into legislation protections for the people of this state so that we never again are subjected to one elected official’s whims.

First, we need them to clearly define an “emergency” that allows the governor to declare an emergency over any area of our state. None of our elected officials should be allowed to declare an emergency due to fortune-telling.

Weather forecasters, medical “experts”, economic “experts”, and many others have knowledge in their field that most people do not. However,

they are not God and cannot foretell the future. Nor should an emergency be declared due to computer models that “predict” certain situations. Something that might happen should never be a reason to declare an emergency for any town, county, or state. An emergency must be something that has already impacted the people of this state.

Next, we do not need to declare an emergency for something that has impacted 1 % of the state population, especially when 99% of those impacted eventually recover without damage to their home, business, or lives. It must be legislated that a disaster must have impacted 15% or more of the people and property of any town, county, and/or state.

Third, it must be legislated that the declaration of an emergency by the governor can only last 14 days. If it is

necessary to extend that state of emergency, the governor must call in the legislature to vote on an extension and take to help the people impacted. They can only extend the state of emergency for another 14 days. If the emergency has not been sufficiently responded to and eliminated by the end of the additional 14 days declared by the legislature, the legislature must send it to the people to vote upon, including how to respond to the emergency and how long to extend the state of emergency up to but not beyond 14 more days.

Those actions by the governor and legislature during an emergency must never interfere with the Constitutional rights of the people, specifically to gather peacefully, to worship, to bear arms, freedom of speech, the right to make a living for oneself and his/her family, and the right to make one’s own decisions regarding one’s health, family, protection, and business. The government must never have the right (or audacity) to declare any legal business or persons “non-essential”.

Next, the actions decided upon by the governor and legislature must be limited to help, such as sending funds or resources to areas in need to help those who have been impacted by the emergency. It must never dictate how their fellow Texans can or cannot live their lives under the rights guaranteed in the Federal and State Constitutions.

The legislature should help connect those in need with those who can help them and help with transporting those groups and persons who will provide resources to the areas in need. The legislature is also encouraged to roll up their sleeves and pitch in with their time and energy, and finances to help their fellow Texans.

No organization, hospital, clinic, or persons is to profit from the state or federal funds established to help those impacted by the emergency.

And all groups receiving funds to help them deal with the emergency MUST be able to show that every penny went to those who needed the help. Any

monies determined to have profited any person or group or failed to reach those in need will be immediately returned to the legislature by the one who failed to appropriate the funds as expected and required.

Finally, there should be legislated swift and permanent action against any governor or other elected official who chooses to act alone, outside the legislation established for such situations, or infringes upon his/her fellow Texans’ rights for any reason, especially for political agendas and propaganda. This action should include immediate removal from office, a penalty of $250,000 paid to the people of Texas and put into an emergency fund, time in jail from one to two years, and permanently prohibited from holding any office in Texas for life.

My fellow Texans, brothers, and sisters in the Body of Messiah, we must take our responsibility of self-governing seriously and be diligent about who we allow to represent and govern us. We must be actively aware and involved in all aspects of our government of this amazing state. We must also hold those we elect accountable for doing what is just and righteous for all the people of this state, rather than allow them to dictate our lives in ways we do not consent to or would even choose for ourselves and our loved ones. I beseech each one of you to act today and contact your elected officials, not only in the state legislature but in your counties and cities as well. Tell them how you expect them to handle future “emergencies” in our great state and in our cities. Let us not allow our fellow citizens and our children to ever again be subjected to such oppression and abuse as what we were forced to endure last year over a simple flu virus. May God grant us favor, and may He direct our elected officials to operate in righteousness and justice this year and every year to come till our Messiah returns.

ince the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers, Americans have been feeling patriotic. But I think it’s time for a refresher. Patriotism isn’t love of country if by “country” you mean scenery. Patriotism isn’t blind trust in anything our president tells us to do. It is not showing up to vote.

Flying the flag can be a sign of patriotism but don’t ever suggest that it’s more than a sign. A few gestures and feelings don’t make you patriotic.

I am a patriotic American because I revere the ideas that motivated the founders. They put their lives and fortunes on the line. All men are created equal; they aren’t endowed by the government but their unalienable rights. Those rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Call it freedom, call it whatever you want, but it’s the backbone of which this nation was founded and what I believe in. It’s what makes us American.

It’s what every American dreams of. It’s what makes life worth living, fighting, and dying for. It’s come to my attention that America is falling short of the statements in the Declaration. However, this hasn’t changed my reverence for them, nor has it dimmed my hope that future generations of Americans will be

re-enlightened by them. This type of patriotism gets me through rough times.

My patriotism is not affected by any politicians’ failures or mistakes. It is not affected by any problems in the economy or stock market. I never hesitate to smile when I see Old Glory waving in the air. I will never kneel before the flag, for I stand with my hand over my heart in respect for the military families who receive a folded one instead of their loved ones. I will stand because my family is active and retired from the military.

Freedom, understanding it, living it, teaching it, and supporting it; the land we walk on, the people I walk with. This entire essay had made me realize why I am proud to be an American. I am proud to be born into a family that includes firefighters, nurses, and soldiers. I am proud to back the blue and everything all of these brave men and women do for our freedom. Each and every one of them put their lives on the line. That, my fellow Americans, is what I believe patriotism is all about.

NO COVID outbreak. There must be something true about Herd Immunity, don’t you think?

As the California governor has once again begun his chokehold on small businesses and restaurants, we have been encouraged by law enforcement’s support. Some local sheriffs’ courage was displayed by announcing they will NOT be hassling citizens regarding masks, distancing, staying home, and curfews. They have assured restaurants and businesses to open up with only the concern of the health or alcohol/beverage “czars” hunting them down to take away licenses. Fortunately, people are realizing there are laws that trump store/restaurant policy.

Most laws actually protect us from many of these tyrannical mandates.

One restaurant owner in Huntington Beach took the challenge to stand firm by allowing his patrons to dine without having to wear a mask into his Italian refuge. Even the maitre d’, the servers, and the chiefs are free to breathe easy without a mask. People are invited to pack the place as they enjoy family dining and bar service.

Last Saturday, I took a girlfriend to visit this now-famous Pasta e Vino for some amazing family Italian recipes. It was so popular, we waited for two and a half hours to be seated. While waiting,

I was privileged to meet and talk with the courageous owner. As he reiterated on the Dennis Prager radio show, our military fought for the freedoms we enjoy in the United States. He feels he should be courageous enough to stand firm against a tyrannical governor to keep people employed, fed, and happy!

Would you be so bold?

So, what can YOU do to be courageous during this time of forced conformity to some “guidelines” that restrict our American freedom and self-governing? Find out the laws that are on the books in your County and State. Know your rights as an individual or business owner. Going mask-less might be your first step of courage. I learned of a law in my state, which allows entry into any public place (store, restaurant, office, etc.) no matter race, color, religion, sex, or medical reason. When entering a public place, there have been a couple of times the employees have asked if I had a mask. I quietly relay to them that I don’t wear a mask. If pressed to put on a mask, I gently let them know I don’t wear a mask for health/medical reasons. (I need oxygen; otherwise, I faint.) If pressed further to put on a mask, I gently tell them THEY would be breaking the law if they made me wear a mask or prevented me from entering without a mask. BOOM! I’ve only had a couple of times when the employee was rude… at which time I took my money to spend elsewhere!

Courage? Well, it’s a start, right?

s you may have heard, California and some other States have tyrannical governors who want to control our lives, taking away our freedoms. The good news is that patriots are rising up and saying, “No more!” We still have opposition, but more people are just outright tired of being told to stay home and stay masked, as if that was a healthy thing to do. We have seen small businesses evaporate or on “life support” at the same time watching Amazon and Costco bustle with business. What’s up with that?

One thing we see more and more is COURAGE! We are witnessing restaurant owners refusing to close. We are seeing people refusing to stay home.

We are seeing people gathering. We see people refusing to wear the mask, even though it has become big business offering various colors, shapes, and messages. This movement to be courageous began way before May 31 but exploded at that point with churches refusing to stay closed, realizing the Body of Christ is ESSENTIAL. Kirk Cameron produced a show called Non-Essential, revealing the importance of the church, our message of hope, our need to be together, helping one another in this perilous time when the suicide rate is higher than virus deaths. This unique production featured Kirk Cameron and Charlie Kirk, Pastor Jack Hibbs, Dinesh D’Souza, Cissie Graham Lynch, David Harris Jr., Pastor Rob McCoy, Dr. Dan Erickson, and singer Danny Gokey. If you missed it, go to YouTube.com to view it at your leisure. The main message was that we all ARE essential, even though our governor thinks otherwise.

The courage of pastors across California and this nation has not always been an easy road; some facing fines, some facing horrible criticism, some facing jail time. But as Pastor John MacArther

shared in an interview, a prison ministry might prove to be one he hasn’t yet embarked. When this pastor sued the governor, he won each of the four court cases until the fifth case. By then, MacArthur’s church became full to overflowing because people were so hungry to hear the good news from the Bible. They came on their own initiative, most mask-less, sitting together as families or friends. And as you may have guessed, NO COVID outbreak has occurred.

Another courageous pastor in California re-opened his church on May 31, purposing NEVER to close again. Since then, there have been three packed services each Sunday with the option to sit inside or outside, shifting the responsibility of each person to practice healthy habits such as washing hands, coughing in the shoulder, and staying home if sick. What a concept!

We never needed the government to tell us what to do to stay healthy before this Covid-time, did we? As a result of this church opening, there have been thousands being encouraged, loved, and supported. The word of God has so touched the lives through this church that they had a baptismal service at the ocean with over one thousand new believers. Since the re-opening of this church in May, there has been

Are We Still a Beacon of Democracy?

’m a lifestyle columnist that promotes optimism and positivity in our daily lives. I’m not a political pundit. Occasionally a subject arises that connects the two areas of positivity and politics, and I feel it’s important to address. We have a problem.

Depending on which poll you believe, almost forty percent of all Americans believe our recent election was either dishonestly counted or was unfair, while seventy-seven percent of Republican voters say their candidate was fraudulently defeated. There has never been so much distrust in our voting system.

Former US Congressman and retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is now floating the idea of secession

for those states who feel election laws were broken to elect Joe Biden.

This was an unprecedented election, with new rules and extreme methods, designed to accommodate voters due to our current Covid-19 pandemic.

Former President Jimmy Carter, a longtime global advocate, and judge for free elections, a Democrat, says that mail-in ballots are wrought with the opportunity for fraud. Never in our history have we had the massive number of vote-by-mail ballots as we did in this 2020 election.

The Beacon of Democracy? The Land of the Free and Home of (because) of the Brave now floating a break-up of our Union?

Yes. I believe our Union is at risk but let me be clear. I do not advocate overturning the recent election. I accept the results based upon the election

rules that were in place. The problem I see, and it should disturb both sides, is that the looseness of rules, methods, techniques, and monitoring of the last election places our democracy at risk.

This isn’t about Trump or Biden. This is about election security. We can and must do better.

You may say Allen West isn’t representative of most voters on the right, but I’d say you may be wrong. This shouldn’t be a left or right issue; it’s an American issue. We should be united in preserving the integrity of our elections.

I’m born and raised in Illinois, and for as long as I can remember, there has been and continues to be a desire for the Illinois “outside of Chicago” to separate from the Windy City. The Chicago Machine rules Illinois with an iron fist and has for almost one-hundred years. Look no further than the 1960 presidential election if you want to understand the power of the machine and how a small dishonest group can impact an entire nation.

been a movement for the vast expanses of red California to break away from the influence and control of blue Los Angeles and San Francisco. And red Western Washington and Oregon could not be more polarized from their fellow statesmen in Seattle and Portland. They are now discussing breaking away and joining Idaho.

Back to Texas, there’s been a group calling themselves the “Republic of Texas” that has been pushing secession from the U.S. for years. And now a former congressman, retired Lt. Colonel (Army) and head of the GOP in Texas, calling for a discussion of secession.

The secession movement is growing and gaining momentum. It’s fueled by a large minority (upwards of forty percent) that believe their candidate was cheated and the rightful winner was denied. Yes, the country is divided almost perfectly down the middle by a different ideology, but that alone isn’t enough to fuel a dissolution of our Union that has lasted since 1776.

A lack of trust in our elections... just might be. If we believe our elections are not honest and fair... how can we possibly be the Beacon of Democracy?

Why should we vote if every legal vote isn’t counted? It is a national dilemma.

unconstitutionally appointing electors in these swing states injures Texas’s electors.

These are sound, rational arguments—not on the merits, but on whether Texas has the right to be HEARD on the merits.

Most Americans do not grasp one other key matter: there was no other court in which Texas could have filed suit. According to our Constitution, when a state sues another state, the U.S. Supreme Court has “exclusive jurisdiction” to hear the matter, meaning that the U.S. Supreme Court can only resolve such disputes.

Contrary to hysterical mainstream media claims, the remedy Texas was seeking was not the overturning of the election or a declaration that Donald Trump was the winner: “Plaintiff State [Texas] does not ask this Court to decide who won the BEACON OF DEMOCRACY CONTINUED FROM PAGE 10

a devastating price, while the whole nation suffered the massive losses of our civil war. I cannot believe anyone would want to risk a second American Civil War, but there are those who do, and the numbers are growing. Ideology alone will not cause this breakup, but a lack of a reliable, honest, and trustworthy voting system can and maybe will.

If we want to secure our Union, we must secure our voting system.

How do we do it?

We must show picture identification for many less important reasons in our states and our nation. What’s more important than voting? Picture ID must be shown to vote. And no... this is not voter suppression but reasonable election security.

Absentee ballots must be used for legitimate reasons for being absent on Election Day and should not be available to the masses because they

In other words, declare the obvious—that the Electors Clause was violated in these states—and send this back to the states to determine the outcome in those states only.

There is no dispute that the named swing states changed their voting laws outside their own legislatures, violating their own state laws and the Electors Clause. Even the Democrats do not dispute this.

Texas could not have filed before the election because there was no injury, and once there was injury, it could only file suit in the Supreme Court.

By denying standing, the Supreme Court perpetrated a fraud on the American public. By pretending it did not want to be seen as political or involve itself in determining the winner, it refused to hear the case on the merits… and determined the

winner.

By not making it clear to everyone that the Electors Clause means what it says, and that there are consequences for violating the Constitution, the Supreme court announced to all fifty states that there is no longer an Electors Clause. The rules can now be changed by anyone, anywhere, at any time.

If anyone can change it at a whim, and rules can vary from ward to ward, city to city, and county to county within a single state, there is also no Equal Protection or Due Process clause.

Free and fair elections are a thing of the past.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

don’t want to vote in person. If you care about the future of your nation, show up at the voting booth, show your ID, and vote. How is this asking too much?

Counting of every single vote must be done with poll watchers from each party. Any vote that is illegally counted under the view of only one side must be either thrown out or counted again, with proper witnesses.

As for voting machines and the allegations they are easily open to fraud, I don’t know enough to comment, but I’ve heard enough to believe they must be examined before being used again.

Then you have our tech giants, who I believe clearly favor one side over another and influence voters by their bias. Why is this allowed, and how do we stop this?

Want to preserve our Union? Secure our elections. Taking steps to secure our elections is not voter suppression but election security. Without election security, everything we say we

stand for is a lie.

I love my blue friends and love my red friends. If we love our Union, we must join hands and engage in election systems we can all trust. The risk of not doing so is unfathomable.

My prayer for our nation is that we can come together and reflect the values that have held us together for almost two-hundred-fifty years. If we only agree upon one thing, let’s agree that our United States of America is worth preserving and saving.

Imagining the world without our influence creates a frightening picture.

Let’s set aside our political and ideological differences and preserve our nation.

God bless America, and may God save and preserve our troubled Union.

Voters Don’t Count, But the Counters Do

ow that the Supreme Court has refused to hear the Texas case about OBVIOUS problems with the last presidential election, I have doubts about all branches of our political system. In a previous article, I quoted Joseph Stalin saying what I said in this article’s title, only my wording is more concise. This past presidential election proved my point… and Stalin’s. Even the Courts admit there were serious problems counting votes, but they decided it was not a problem for them to solve. When a state has a problem with another state, the Supreme Court is the only Constitutional remedy, and Texas has issues with several states. In fact, seventeen other states joined Texas in this fight.

Since Texas was not allowed to present her case in court, and provable wrongs were committed, I am left with only one conclusion… the court is part of the problem. I am not a lawyer, but I have a copy of the Constitution, and I have read it. So, the highest court in the land refuses to hear a case only it can hear… that is scary!

Imagine a country where the citizens must abide by the laws passed by congress or go to jail. Then imagine lawmakers making those laws so complicated only lawyers and judges know what they mean. That is called tyranny.

The ruling class consisting of lawyers, politicians, and judges, controls everything, but only they know what is required to remain a free citizen. Citizens become slaves to the ruling class, and if they do not obey the law as defined by that ruling class, they are punished, just like under communism. Do not say it cannot happen here because it just did, with the Supreme Court ruling not to hear Texas’ complaint. With some states illegally changing voting rules during the election or shortly before, Texas had no other choice.

It is strange how the norms of past

elections are so skewed in this election.

Even considering COVID, this election looks terrible. The polling people were wrong, the percentages of thrown-out ballots should be more but is less, and Republicans were kept out of some counting areas. Possible illegal votes made Biden President, yet the court refused to hear Texas and 17 other states.

This is far more important than overturning an election that appears to have been robbery by Democrats, socialists, progressives, liberals, maybe the Chinese, and now the courts.

I do not care what the legal reason is, but I care about right and wrong, fair or unfair. I fear that the Courts have twisted our Constitution into such a knot that it cannot be untied, and judges OPINION now rules, rather than the law as written. If so, we have lost the Republic! Democrats introduced Liberal and Conservative to define the Supreme Court years ago, but “Constitutional or Not” would be more appropriate.

Democrats think their opinion should be allowed, and absolutes do not exist.

That is how legally killing the unborn became law, same-sex marriage overruled the people (DOMA), and our education system became a joke. At one time, the US was consistently in the top 5 worldwide in education, but now

we are high only in student self-esteem. Today students graduate with useless degrees, unmarketable skills, and serious debt. Then reality sets in… but it is too late. Thank you, Teacher’s Unions. Our election system now has a similar problem. The television news, high-tech online sources, newspapers, and liberal radio twist the truth to the point of lying, as conservatives search for facts hidden among false charges.

Now the highest court in the land says NO to Texas when all she wants is truth exposed.

If a crook like Biden wins, honestly… so be it. But enough information is in the public domain to prove Texas’ case, so to not hear it makes the Court a party to the theft of an election.

the United States of America and its Constitution on a solid foundation of religious principles with very limited federal powers.

Thomas Jefferson outlined the foundations of the American Dream, “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

Jefferson was confident that should the government ever get out of line, the people would quickly restore it to its foundations, “Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied upon to set them to rights.”

We are now in harm’s way. The dangers we face as a nation are from those who hate our successes and our strengths and from those who want to control us. The Liberal Elite are still in control of much of the Deep State of our Federal Government. Radical Islamic Terrorists are waiting to deliver another deadly blow to us, Israel, and all who love peace and freedom. Our Marxist enemies are again rattling their sabers.

Our Constitution has been under attack for a long time. Democrat

Marxism, led by Barack Obama, is now the strongest opponent of our Constitution.

The differing views of our Constitution during the 20th Century are clearly shown by Presidents Wilson, Reagan, and Clinton’s comments.

President Woodrow Wilson said, “The American Constitution is little more than ‘political witchcraft’ from the past, and ought to be discarded so that we can get on with the Progressive project of building a ‘national state.’” Wilson openly expressed his disdain for our Constitution, for the American people, and for Liberty.

More than anyone, Woodrow Wilson advanced the new Progressive theory of human nature and human institutions and the corresponding Progressive critique of the principles of the American Founding and the Founders’ Constitution. Wilson, who was President of Princeton University and the American Political Science Association before becoming President of the United States, was the first American national chief executive to openly criticize the United States Constitution, once comparing it to “political witchcraft.” So hostile was Woodrow Wilson to the self-evident truths of our nation’s founding that, in a 1911 address, he remarked, “if you want to understand the real Declaration of Independence, do not repeat the preface.”

President Ronald Reagan understood the intent of our original Constitution. He concisely let it be known, “Our Constitution is a document that protects the people from government.”

govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees.�

Like Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt, Barack Obama does not accept the Founding Father’s intention of a very limited government.

Barack Obama has a Far-Left political ideology. Obama has been intent on transforming the United States from a Representative Republic into a Socialist Democracy, and ultimately into a Marxist Tyranny. Like Presidents Wilson and Clinton, Obama has a distinct distaste for our Constitution because it inhibits his desire for a rapid transition away from the very foundations of our government.

During a 2001 Chicago Public Radio interview, Barack Obama said, “The Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the

Constitution.�

Our Constitution protects us from Barack Obama and his fellow Progressive Socialists. Obama does not like that.

Joe Biden h as been a moderate Democrat but appears to have no foundational moral or political beliefs. Joe Biden was prepared to express whatever beliefs were necessary to get him elected and to stay in power, including allowing riots, arson, looting, the toppling of statues, and whatever else was necessary to keep his voting base happy.

Joe Biden said that no amendment is “absolute,� indicating that our Bill of Rights is not safe with Biden.

Lubbock Voting System: 10 Recommendations

he Watershed Election of 2020, [The Year of Sorrows], now to be known as THE ELECTION OF CHAOS, has demonstrated what happens when traditions give way to madness and corruption. It was quite apparent that President Donald J. Trump won the election on Election Day, the third of November, as the Constitution specifies. However, we knew in advance that the scurrilous “mail-in ballot” phenomenon that came about due to the Wuhan Chinese Virus would skew the results to former Vice President Joseph R. Biden.

As the counts gradually came in, it became apparent that unverified mailin ballots were going to whittle away Trump’s lead in the various Battleground States until Biden pulled ahead.

Serious questions of voter fraud and manipulation have now surfaced.

The rush to anoint Biden as the President-Elect is very premature. This didn’t happen in 2000 when the victor was not confirmed until 37 days after the Election.

The events of the summer, including the Wuhan Chinese virus, mobs and the destruction of American cities with rioting, looting, arson, assaults, and murders all led to the use of random “Mail-In” ballots, mailed en masse to all those on registered voter rolls, all of which .allow the possibility, if not probability, of rampant fraud.

These national developments highlight the situation here in Lubbock County. For over a decade, since the Elections Office’s creation as a separate entity, the County has used two different sets of Electronic Voting Machines

without Paper Trails. No canvassing is possible, and recounts are not feasible because of the lack of verification.

On top of that, the Elections Office is extremely secretive about the counting process and has denied observers access to watching vote counts in the past.

This writer urges the nation in general, and Lubbock County in particular, to consider sweeping changes in our methods of voting. If anything is clear from the 2020 experience, Electronic Voting Machines are a deeply flawed method of voting and should be phased out and eliminated. Lubbock County should put its expensive voting machines up for sale and replace them with a better method.

In the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, the State of Texas had a beautiful election system with accessibility, accountability, and transparency. HAND COUNTED PAPER BALLOTS were the norm, and many safeguards existed which guaranteed the system’s integrity. In the 1970s, Secretary of State Bob Bullock, later Lieutenant Governor, finely tuned the system until it reached its zenith. This article shall, for purposes of clarity, refer to this system as the Old Classic Voting System

In Texas [OCVST], a gold standard, which, if implemented in Lubbock County, Texas, and the entire nation, would prevent future ELECTIONS OF CHAOS such as we have witnessed this year.

I remember well when Kellis Dibrell, a former FBI agent, ran for statewide office on the GOP ticket when the GOP never won anything. He came to Lubbock, and I spoke with him about many things, including the September 1948 Primary Runoff for the U. S. Senate, in which future President Lyndon B. Johnson won the seat. Dibrell was one of the officers assigned to investigate allegations of voter fraud in Duval and Jim Wells Counties. In Duval, the home of a famous political machine, he and his partner were not given full access to the Signature Rosters but could memorize many names during their brief examination. The two then checked those names and found many of them in the graveyard...” graveyard voters”.

In 2020, hundreds of thousands of votes were manipulated through electronic machines, unverified absentee ballots, out-of-state voters, “graveyard voters”, unregistered voters, and people casting “Mail-In ballots” for registered voters without their permission. Speaking on Tucker Carlson’s show, Professor Victor Davis Hanson stated that once upon a time, Election Day had a certain majesty, the ultimate act a citizen can do in a Constitutional Republic [NOT a Democracy]. That act, done in person, with dignity, in a public building, has a resonance that no Early Vote or Mail-In ballot can ever achieve. 2. Use HAND COUNTED PAPER BALLOTS and the scratch blackening method of marking them, and color-coordinated election forms.

3. Bring back the Ballot Boxes and the Ballot Stub Boxes.

4. Use the quadruplicate Signature Roster, which cannot be altered.

5. Affirm the Neighborhood Precinct system, with Neighborhood Precincts as polling places, with elected Precinct Chairs serving as Election

Judges.

6. Use the Precinct backroom method of counting votes, with teams of neighborhood citizens counting the votes rather than anonymous people and electronic machines and producing a verifiable count.

7. Use only requested Absentee ballots, which could only be voted in person or by mail when requested.

8. If speed in results is deemed important, the Hand Counted Paper Ballots could be run through Optical Scan devices.

9. Disallow any ballot which is not in the hands of Election Officials by closing time on Election Day. 10. Use the Canvass system, which allowed Precinct Chairs, media, or other interested parties to verify the results through cross-checking.

CANCEL CULTURE:

The Weaponization of Political Correctness

PC AGAINST YOU AND ME As we have drifted into 2020 with all of our modern crises, we are confronted with a new phrase. We now have cancel culture. Congressman Dan Crenshaw has also referred to outrage culture, which has led to domestic violence; and this cancel culture seems to be the “weaponization” of political correctness (PC), serving as another avenue to fulfill one’s sense of outrage.

Despite how one attempts to gauge our political climate, social media plays a tremendous role in advancing the good, the bad, and the ugly in society today. This new environment of almost immediate social connection comes with a downside. As much as people may manifest brilliance or even genius, people are also given to spreading falsehood and destructive lies. In this way, for good or ill, social media has contributed to amplifying the collective impact and consequences of human interaction. These consequences may manifest overnight. The more people become “plugged in,” the greater this amplifying effect becomes. Welcome to the Borg… No thanks!

RECENT HISTORY Not so long ago, there was a Muslim uprising referred to as the Arab Spring. Many North African leaders were ousted from leadership. The surprising thing about this uprising was how social media was involved. Young Muslims with internet connectedness were seemingly able to influence an uprising with unprecedented rapidity.

Perhaps the phenomenon of internet blitzkrieg has come of age.

Additionally, we suffer from the same kind of thing with identity theft. If current advertisements are to be believed, we now have a class of criminal hackers

who can steal our lives and property out from under us if they obtain our personal information. The need for “in-person” identification, notaries, and witnesses seem to be no longer required. So, are we really doing better if we have created efficient information systems that can be used to steal from people and destroy them overnight?

Rather than continue purchasing some form of internet protection, I would prefer to do things the old way… face to face. This may seem inconvenient for many, but the “old ways” seem less inconvenient than being economically destroyed through fraud or becoming professionally canceled.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS Information moved much slower in the past. Perhaps slow was sometimes a good thing. Slow can mean you have time to think about what is really going on.

Admittedly, some things require a more immediate response. If for some reason you have only 10 minutes left to live, help arriving 15 minutes later would just be too late. Yet are we to conclude that faster is always better?

Have you ever reacted too soon or found yourself wishing you had waited before you spoke or acted? Right timing seems to certainly be preferable to

being either too quick or too slow. Yet can we always know when that is? ….

Probably not!

Returning to our original theme, we understand that cancel culture, as weaponized PC, is just another form of verbal abuse. I recall an interesting phrase used years ago referring to someone doing violence to the truth.

It causes me to ponder that perhaps every pernicious lie is somehow an act of violence.

Today we have become accustomed to falsehoods and fake news. Truth is becoming a rare commodity. From ancient times, truth was always associated with life, while lies were associated with death. So, where are we headed?

Ironically, in its advocacy of what is right and true, the cancel culture club rejects any analysis of their so-called truth. Their truth is absolute dogma, and anyone who questions their narrative of reality is to be ignored... rejected… or canceled! Rational debate is not a virtue with this group.

Sadly, the cancel culture cult suppresses not only rational analysis but freedom of speech as a whole. This new weaponized PC results in vicious confrontations. One is not respected and simply reproved when questioning a PC narrative; they are attacked! Gone is

the day when the magnanimous liberal soul would defend to the death your right to freely speak. On the contrary, today, if you do not endorse the PC perspective, you will be subjected to death from a thousand slanderous insults. This has adversely impacted both social media and the modern college campus. People are being targeted and vilified, leaving others with a negative impression of “canceled” victims. This has damaged the reputations, careers, and future job opportunities for those who have fallen prey to cancel culture assaults.

Is this still freedom of speech, or libel and slander? Freedom of speech presupposes an effort to convey truth.

Cancel culture is killing freedom of speech. Let us hope this current state of affairs will itself become canceled.

SINS OF THE TONGUE In the final analysis, this conflict is simply the result of unrestrained sin.

The Bible (should you have any regard for that book) clearly condemns gossip, slander, backbiting, and every form of malignity. I believe the core for much of this unfortunate activity is found in the development and continuation of unresolved bitterness.

Bitterness is a choice. It is a choice we may make in the light of undesirable circumstances that arise in life.

The solutions here will not be found in drugs, alcohol, prescription medications, better nutrition, or protests.

Legal reforms or mandates can’t ultimately treat this illness. Only true repentance and forgiveness can break the cycle of bitterness and the spiritual rage which results. As the Bible correctly observes, our bitterness will defile others, as well as ourselves. We are seeing it today in the streets of America, as well as the world.

A CLOSING PARABLE I once heard a parable about an old preacher who had been victimized by the gossip of a rather indiscreet woman. As the story goes, the woman became convicted of her error and went to ask forgiveness for her indiscretion and what she could do to rectify the problem. The sagely preacher handed her a feather pillow and requested that she tear it open.

As this exchange occurred outside in the open, the torn pillow released the feathers, which were quickly carried away in the breeze. Our sage asked the woman to go and collect all the feathers. She remarked that this would be essentially impossible. The preacher then explained that it is much the same with secret gossip or malignity.

Slander leaves our lips, and we have little control where the winds of gossip will carry them. Untold damage or unintended consequences will likely be the result. Is it any wonder that one of God’s primary directives is “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”?

We should take care of how we assess and confirm the truth. My initial lecture in physics usually began with the importance of empirical, rational, and revelatory criteria in establishing scientific truth. First, is it empirically observable? Second, does the phenomenon fulfill a rational (often mathematical) cause and effect connection to what we already know to be true? And third, are other scientists elsewhere revealing or reporting the same scientific results that you are discovering? This has worked well for scientific progress. Are so-called progressives really advancing cultural progress?

Is the postmodern Marxism of the cancel culture cult leading us toward truth? It is said that the truth will set you free, but we appear to be a nation becoming bound in the gall of bitterness.

down and publishing its complaints and intentions based on the premise that freedom is a God-given right for all people. Those leaders put a high value on something that God had made available from the beginning of humanity but that few had been able to enjoy in the ensuing nearly six thousand years. They valued it so highly that they made the following pledge in writing as the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence: We Mutually Pledge To Each Other Our Lives, Our Fortunes, and Our Sacred Honor.

For our founding Fathers, freedom had great value, and their subsequent actions proved that they were committed to this statement. Indeed, they had pledged to give up their lives and everything that was of value to them, outside of spiritual values, for the sake

www.CaprockPatriot.com of freedom. Fifty-six men signed the document, thereby issuing their own death warrants should the British capture them later once the inevitable war had come here to decapitate newly-declared freedoms and reimpose control.

I find it tragic to compare the courage of those 56 men (and the more than a million colonials who supported their mission) to the cowardice of so many Americans today who incarcerate themselves in their homes in fear of a disease that has caused less than 1 percent of the population of the entire country to lose their lives. In 1776, half the population of that day was ready to die for the sake of freedom. It was more valuable to them than their own lives.

The loss of life in 2020 is tragic. Indeed, life is sacred, but the loss of God-given freedom is, by biblical definition, catastrophic. I agree with the men of 1776: freedom is more valuable than mortal life itself, even as I mourn the loss of loved ones to this disease.

But it is the nature of mankind to get God’s priorities mixed up and to strive to take away freedom so we can control others. In other words, freedom isn’t a natural condition for us because it comes from God, and we have to acquire a new nature to even connect to it. Fortunately, Jesus came to make that new nature possible (2 Corinthians 5:17) so that believers in Christ could establish a way of life where freedom can prevail. Even nonbelievers can benefit from it if they’re willing to ignore their natural inclination to control others and not disturb the freedom they are living under.

Did you know that America is the only country in the history of the world to dedicate itself to God on its own without the Lord seeking the dedication Himself? God chose Israel with certain assignments in mind. But in our case, God was chosen by America, and He has blessed this country ever since with freedom and a never-before seen level

of material abundance. America itself and our exceptionalism is God’s testimony to the world of what can happen when He’s the prevailing influence in one of the world’s nations.

The cause of the problem we now face is that most Americans fear death, and fear doesn’t come from God. According to the bible, what comes from God instead of fear is love and soundness of mind (2 Timothy 1:7). That makes faith the opposite of fear, where faith is defined as trusting God, which is what people of sound mind do. Unfortunately, most Americans don’t possess real faith, so they wind up in fear, which is the entryway to the loss of freedom. They are willing to give up some of their freedom and receive government-sponsored relief from their fear. They will give up their freedom to reduce their risk of dying.

according to the experience of an increasing number of people, is that it’s really difficult to regain freedom once it has been voluntarily given up. The little potentates trying to control us love their newfound power, and they don’t want to give it back. So, they find ways to extend the time of fear by introducing new fears that come through the exercise of their power.

For example, restaurants are commanded to submit to ever-changing rules of operation even though the research doesn’t support them. When they complain and resist, they are threatened with the loss of their necessary operating licenses, which forces them to comply unless they have seen that freedom has a higher value than their “fortunes.” Welcome to your first experience with socialism/communism. You have no

You have no income because your business is closed, and you have no normal remedy, but you can stay home and watch the TV news, supposedly safe from the disease you are so afraid of. By the way, I am told that what the research does show is that you would be safer from this particular disease in the restaurant than you are cowering in your own home with your family.

And I am not talking about the older and infirmed folks among us being cowards. They have a right and the good sense to stay at home; however much they need to.

If we truly want our freedom back, we will have to “fight” for it. I don’t mean violently, but I am confident that the little politicians across the country who have usurped our freedom will not want to give it back. They will want to prolong it, even to make it permanent if they can. Vaccines are coming, but it’s important for Christian believers to

be stronger in their faith and a lot more dedicated to protecting this precious gift from God. We need to pray about it faithfully and assertively in faith. We need to talk about it in our churches and make the Christian position well known whenever and wherever we get an opportunity. This is not a secular political issue. It is a spiritual issue involving an anti-bible, anti-Christian movement that understands that if they can take over our God-given freedom, they will prevail. Our once free country will pass into history with all the others.

I’m not saying that America has ever been perfect or that it ever will be perfect. Nothing that people do is ever perfect. But I am saying that without God’s freedom, the remainder of His presence will depart, and we will be like the rest of the world, no longer exceptional and no longer God’s principal launch-place for sending the gospel to the nations as we have been for the past

four hundred years. How much is your freedom worth? Is it worth everything?

We should be more afraid that we won’t regain our freedom than we are of catching a disease with a 98 percent (+) recovery rate. And more than anything, we should come to know Jesus personally, and there will no longer be a reason to fear death.

May God help us restore and protect our freedom!

Old Salt: Life Imitating Art BEING THERE BEING WHERE Starring: PETER SELLERS

LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST: When new to an adventure, life comes at you fast in every conceivable way.

Take yours truly, placed on the then Super Carrier USS Forrestal. When you are cast into the flight deck environment with live ordinance, roaring jets, whirling propellers, not to forget other exciting impediments, you better learn fast or make peace with your maker.

Come to think about it, existence could be perilous anywhere on these great war machines. As in life, if you live in fear, the experience will probably be “Prognosis Negative” (Google that movie for a laugh!).

DANGER AND REWARD: There was more than danger anticipated as the Navy had me prepared to live deliberately. Would I do it again?

You bet I would. “83-year-old sailor reporting for duty.”

Beyond danger, there was camaraderie, fun, mind-expanding events, just to name a few. The antics that went on continue to help me keep a humorous perspective on today’s world. One was a prank, The Cigarette Ribbon Caper, which I’ll share in a future article. Another, the mind-expanding discussions between shipmates of all stripes was another growth opportunity. The current phony politics caused me to remember the first time I heard about “Art Imitating Life” in a sea story.

LIFE IMITATING ART: Just as the forgoing was life imitating art, the following is even a stranger foretelling of Art Imitating Life turning to future Life Imitating Art. The lawless shenanigans of Biden and Democrats caused me to recall a Peter Sellers 1979 movie, Being There.

In this movie, a simple-minded gardener, Chance (Peter Sellers), resided in the Washington, D.C., townhouse (think basement) of his wealthy employer for his entire life and been educated only by television, is forced to

vacate his home when his boss dies.

While wandering the streets, he encounters business mogul Ben Rand (Melvyn Douglas), who assumes Chance to be a fellow upper-class gentleman. Soon Chance is ushered into high society, and his unaffected yet inane gardening wisdom makes him the talk of the town. Chance would make some mindless disconnected statement and some Washington Bureaucrat interpretation the nonsensical drivel to a brilliant National Policy statement. This unassuming idiot basically ends up headed to the Presidency.

MEMORABLE LINES: The maid/housekeeper, Louise, is brilliantly played by fabulous actress Ruth Attaway.

“It’s for sure a white man’s world in America. Look here: I raised that boy since he was the size of a piss-ant. And I’ll say right now, he never learned to read and write. No, sir. Had no brains at all. Was stuffed with rice pudding between th’ ears. Shortchanged by the Lord, and dumb as a jackass. Look at him now! Yes, sir, all you’ve gotta be is

white in America to get whatever you want. Gobbledy-gook!”

SUGGESTED REMAKE OF THE MOVIE FOR 2020 The forgoing movie is the personification of our current situation. I, therefore, propose an updated satirical version for 2020.

Lifelessness Imitating Art: Being Where… A shameless dismantling of America, featuring Joe Biden and a cast of unknown perps. This 2020 movie is filmed virtually with a teleprompter always attached to our anti-hero as if he were a peanut vendor at Yankee Stadium.

Working through Jill, a cabal looking suspiciously like Former President Obama, George Soros, and other power-hungry anti-constitutionalist, reveals they can save Old Joe. All old Joe must do is stay out of the way and act stupid.

Soon Joe is ushered into the limelight, and his inane mumbling, as interpreted by a fawning slavish media, makes him the talk of the town. Joe would make some mindless disconnected statement and some dupe, such as a Chris Wallace, interprets the nonsensical drivel to a brilliant National Policy statement.

This unassuming idiot basically ends up headed to the Presidency, unaware he is dragging along his giggling replacement Commie Harris.

Special Forces: Training to Free the Oppressed, Part VI

The sixth in an 11-part series sharing the very personal story of one Long Range Recon Green Beret and his time in Special Forces training.

We had a three-day survival training exercise that was physically demanding. We had no food provided to us whatsoever during the exercise. Our water was from creeks and was treated with iodine pills to sterilize it.

I knew they were not going to feed us when they provided no lunch. Hey, survival training, right. It doesn’t take a genius. I conserved my energy. But I did manage to find a hand full of dandelions that I dug up, roots and all. I munched on them for half a day.

When I was 12 years old, I went a whole week without eating just to test myself. I would have made it longer, but my mother tricked me. One day, I came home from school, and in the refrigerator was half a chocolate pie and half a lemon meringue pie. Mother and the kids returned home about an hour after I had eaten both halves of pie and drank over half a gallon of ice-cold milk.

Mother was a good actress because she did an excellent job acting like she was upset with me. Dad was in on the play-acting too, because he acted mad and whipped me for eating the pies. I smiled. Those pies were the best I have ever eaten.

For three days, we ran around the woods with no food. On the third day, at 0400, the food trucks arrived with Insulated Metal Food Canisters. When they took the covers off, you could see the steam rise out of the canisters.

We all lined up with our mess plates and tools, everyone fighting to be first in line. I was 15 or so back in the line.

The line started moving forward, but no one was taking any food. I was puzzled because I knew they were hungry. I looked in the first canister. It contained whole chickens and rabbits. The chickens were complete with heads, feet, and

guts. The rabbits were the same way.

I did not hesitate. I took two chickens by their feet and walked away, shaking the hot water off them. I had been killing, plucking, and gutting chickens since I was eight or so years old. Sunday fried chicken was what country people did.

Once I had broken the psychology barrier, everyone rushed to get their dinner.

I chose the chicken because they are easier to skin and gut.

This old West Texas boy, with as much fake pride as I could present,

said, “New York City Sergeant.” He walked away, shaking his head.

Ralph, Liz, and I had become very close. We liked the same things. We had no ego problems. We enjoyed the same books and movies. We discussed politics; we never argued politics. Who could debate Liz with her total recall?

I ate mostly in the Mess Hall, but Liz would ask me what I would like, and she would fix it from time to time. I usually gave Liz money to buy the foods to be cooked. Fort Bragg was close to the coast, so seafood was easy to get.

Once, I told Liz I wanted cornbread and sweet milk. I was surprised that they had never had it before.

Liz fixed a pan of hot cornbread. I was so very happy to take the cornbread, fill it with butter, crumble it up into a glass and pour cold milk over it. They SEE SPECIAL FORCES | PAGE 26

loved it as much as I did. Liz fixed two more pans of cornbread, and we ate so much that we could hardly move.

We watched the 10 o’clock news and a movie then they took me back to the dorm. On the way back, I jokingly told Liz she needed to find me a girlfriend before I started climbing the walls.

Ralph and Liz came to say goodbye. They were packed and headed to the Fort Sam Houston medical school in San Antonio, Texas. The school would be 18 months of grueling hard work. Liz had completed high school and would be enrolling in college.

I never saw them again. I did get a letter from Liz twenty years later.

In the late 80’s while taking college computer classes, I was introduced to the Internet. One of the first searches I did was for Ralph. I found

www.CaprockPatriot.com nothing. I then searched for Liz and had 7 or 8 listings. One was for a Liz, who worked in the Pentagon. My gut told me that it was Liz. I wrote her a long letter telling her all that had happened to me and asking about her and Ralph. I addressed it to her at the Pentagon.

About eight weeks later, my wife gave me my letter from Liz – opened, and I suspect, days if not weeks old.

Liz said, of course, she remembered me. Ralph had completed med school. She had a miscarriage three months into her pregnancy.

Ralph had been sent to Vietnam soon after he graduated med school.

He was assigned to an A-Team working with the mountain highland people near the Laos border and loved, dearly loved, giving them medical aid.

Three months into Ralph’s tour, the village, and the A-Team camp had been overrun by a large group

of NVA (North Vietnamese Army).

Ralph was killed tending the wounded. He was unarmed. I know he was unarmed because, in his letters to me, he told me he was disobeying a direct order to carry his weapon.

He feared if he carried a weapon that he would use it in a moment of weakness.

Liz was a political analyst with the Pentagon. She had never remarried, and yes, she was still big. It would take six uniforms to cover her butt now.

Liz and I exchanged letters every year or so until the early 90’s. In her final letter, she said she was in very bad health and was looking forward to seeing Ralph. She could hardly wait to see his big grin; his arms spread wide with two thumbs up.

I never heard from Liz again. I am grateful to God that I knew them and knew the extent of their lives.

My eight weeks of Basic Special

Forces training ended, and I started my primary (MOS) Military Occupational Specialty, Communications.

By studying so hard to achieve my very best on the radios, I scored 100%, which placed me in communications. For eight weeks, I spend eight hours a day listening and sending morse code.

Even now, 50 plus years later, I can still ‘work’ code.

reetings, Ladies, and Gentlemen. You’ve made it! Welcome to 2021! The year we all hope will be normal. The year that we can sit down and take a breather from the waged battles in 2020. I was looking forward to it. I was looking forward to a year of further growth and becoming a better human being by taking the lessons learned from the previous year and instilling hard results into this one.

But instead, I’m going to be ranting.

Here’s an insider scoop: I’m writing this article to you from the past for the sake of the editorial process. Today is December 17th, 2020. I’m writing this in my home and with what was an outlook of positivity and optimism.

And I’m going to be vulnerable with you, my readers, for just a second. I struggle with pessimism. I struggle with cynicism. I struggle with them on small and large scales, and it affects me in a way that I sometimes just want to barricade the windows, shut and bar the door, and wait for the storm to pass.

Not out of fear, but something else.

I tell you this because while I’m writing this for a future audience, I have to look at present things. Today I became aware that the ATF is cracking down on and the DOJ is filling letters against pistol braces. This is also coming in the same week that the ATF raided a company that legally makes 80% firearms/ lowers. Just over the course of a night or two, millions of legal gun owners are potentially going to become criminals.

mode. The problem with this method is you never end up shooting enough to develop good muscle memory or discover flaws in your form or shot execution.

On the flip side, if you are shooting 3D archery in the offseason, your time spent practicing increases significantly.

Not only through participating in shoots but with the practice you will likely implement preparing for those shoots.

That increased practice will keep your shooting muscles in shape and help you develop a consistent, reliable shot going into deer season. It will also give you time to correct any issues you may discover in your shooting form.

Another bonus of shooting 3D archery in the off-season is the ability to address any equipment issues that may have developed since deer season.

Strings stretch. Sights get bumped.

Equipment malfunctions. If you don’t

pick up your bow until a week or two before the season, then you may not have time to address or even discover an equipment issue. No one wants to kick off deer season with their bow in the shop!

3D archery will also improve your confidence. The increased practice will build confidence in your ability and equipment, and judging target distances will build confidence in that area, as well. That confidence will pay dividends when the buck you’ve been after all season finally steps into your shooting lane. You will be much less likely to succumb to buck fever because the shot will be second nature.

For me, 3D archery gives me something to look forward to outside of the hunting season. It’s a great way to get outdoors, fellowship with other bowhunters, and sharpen my archery skills. And most importantly, you’ll be a better archer and better bowhunter because of 3D archery.

The South Plains Archery Club 3D tournaments start the third Saturday in February of 2021 (February 20th) and run every third Saturday through September. Archery Shack’s 3D tournaments run year round the 4th Saturday of each month. All events are held at the South Plains Archery Club located at 6596 Farm to Market Road 835, Lubbock – just outside Buffalo Springs Lake. The tournament course uses 36 acres of the 156 available acres of the Club.

It’s a REALLY fun day!

As a reminder, we have concessions available, a covered area to take a break, and Port-a-Potties available. Membership to the Club is $60 for a family and $40 for an individual. You get a discounted entry fee for the tournament by being a member; tournament fees are $10 for Club members and $15 for non-members.

With that said, I hope it’s becoming more apparent now the issues at hand here. This isn’t just about rights. This also isn’t something that the people can just bend over and take anymore. This is real, and this is happening. And this isn’t going to end soon.

I’m not sure if I’m able to publicly call for the disbandment of an unjustified, unelected, and unethical federal office on this platform, but in a better world, I wouldn’t have to.

The Titanic, Boiling Frogs, and God’s Grip

ou and I have begun to explore the beginnings of a new year, numbered 2021. Every new year can be anticipated, like the arrival at a shopping mall. We wisely find a map directory and discover our “red dot” location. Then we search through the many shops and food courts for where we want to go.

Sometimes we know what we are looking for, and sometimes we have come, just to pass the time. As we walk through the early days of January, in this nation called America, what do we find in “the American Mall”?

The suggested “red dot” moment of our times comes from the ideas that can be read in a book authored

by Rabbi Daniel Lapin in 1999. On August 23, 1984, President Reagan spoke these prophetic words…” If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

Like the crew of the famous Titanic, we, like they, pridefully ignored the warnings and size of the iceberg that tore a hole in the steel hull of this mighty ship. Rabbi Lapin states that what was true of the mindset of the passengers aboard the “unsinkable” Titanic, i.e., “This ship will never sink” mindset, is now true of America. Also, in the book AMERICA’S

REAL WAR, he reminds his readers, like “boiled frogs”, “we humans can accustom ourselves to almost anything, provided we are given a little time in which to do it. Things that change slowly become accepted as normal.”

Frogs thrown into boiling water will jump out but put a frog in water and slowly raise the temperature, the frog will stay. Hence comes the promised Biden’ reset’.

Rabbi Lapin proposes that our nation hit a cultural iceberg in the 1960’s and we have been dancing in the ballrooms of our denial since then. The idea upon which America was founded was not about ownership of land but that humans are

primarily spiritual beings endowed by their CREATOR with inalienable rights. This foundation of spiritual idealism remained strong until the 1960’s. The iceberg for America was struck on June 16, 1963. On that day, our nation’s Supreme Court outlawed prayer in our public schools.

On January 22, 1973, our nation’s Supreme Court unleashed lawful abortion upon our children in the womb. In 2015, our nation’s Supreme Court redefined God’s definition of marriage and the family. In December of the year 2020, our nation’s Supreme Court stiff-armed the attempt of Texas to protect our Constitution’s firewall of election laws.

A Little Good News Today: “A Lawyer’s Future Hangs in the Balance”

A

ROUND 1990, I CHOSE a certain lawyer to represent me in a work-related incident. I drove all the way from Conroe to Katy, Texas, to use this man. All I can say is that I felt strongly that this was the man the Lord wanted me to use. Later, I understood why.

When I first walked into the Lawyer’s office, I noticed that he had hung little sayings all over his walls saying, “God owns this business, and Jesus is Lord,” as well as other similar expressions. This opened up the door for our conversations to ask each other about our relationships with God. Each time we met to discuss my case, the Lawyer began to ask me more and more questions about my life. I told him how sometimes God would show me things about a person or tell me things to say to them that no one else knew about. When God would reveal things of the past, things hidden in their lives, it would get their undivided attention when He would say something to them about today or their future. All so that they would know without a shadow of a doubt that God was real and that He cared for them.

IN OUR LAST MEETING, I was about to leave the office and when

I reached for the doorknob… all of a sudden the Lord showed me something about this man. I must have stood there holding the doorknob for about 10 seconds, and it caught the Lawyer’s attention. He said, “Hey! What’s the matter? Did God tell you something about me?”

I said, “Yes, He did. Do you want to know what He said?” The Lawyer said yes, of course. So, I told him to sit down and asked if I could lock his door so we wouldn’t be disturbed, and he said sure.

I said, “You have all these printings taped to your walls saying that God is the owner of this business, Jesus is your Lord, and so on. God told me to ask you if He really is the owner of your business, and if He is truly Lord of your life. He said to tell you that your future is hanging in the balance depending on how you answer these questions.”

THE LAWYER SAT THERE in silence for about 30 seconds, contemplating if this was real, if God had really spoken to me about him, and if God really even knew what was going on in his life. Then he kind of came back to reality, smiled, and said, “Sure, God is over everything I have, and He’s Lord of my life.”

I looked at him intently and slowly said, “Okay,” and I turned to leave.

The Lawyer said, “Oh, by the way, you’ll probably see me on the News tonight, but it’s okay. Everything will be alright, and I’ll be back in the office Monday morning, and business will be as usual.”

I grinned and nodded and left for home. That evening, my wife and I watched the 10 o’clock news and saw my Lawyer and two other attorneys indicted for insurance fraud. They had accomplices wreck cars by running them into trees and then claiming they had neck and back injuries.

They had swindled the insurance companies out of thousands of dollars. Then the verdict was read on the Lawyer I was using. The Judge said he was going to make an example of him and sentenced him to 31 years in prison for his part in the Insurance fraud schemes.

JESUS THE REBEL: Resisting Tyrants Is Obedience to God

esus Christ fought the stifling legalese of the Pharisees. In word and deed, Jesus resisted that group of religious/political leaders who controlled and manipulated the Jewish people. Jesus Christ came to set them free from the guilt manipulation and legal torture of the totalitarian system of His day.

Witness the tyranny: the blind man. He confessed that Jesus Christ healed him. Result? He was cast out of the synagogue. This was a de-personing of a dissident — he could no longer socialize or engage in business with any other Jew. He

was de-platformed, dehumanized, debased, and de-personed. This is how dissidents are treated in 2020.

During the time of Christ, being kicked out of the synagogue was costly. The Pharisees perfected the art of social and political control when they elevated their traditions and precepts above the Word of God. The Soviet Union, Cuba, China — all the great totalitarian countries likewise follow this model. The laws and regulations are so broad that a simple conversation over coffee — or acknowledging that Jesus healed someone’s eyes — can result in ostracization and economic destruction. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone rats each other out.

The Chief priests had rats — Judas was a spy on the inside of Jesus’s group — a paid informant. In the USSR and China, any word deemed “counter-revolutionary” or “imperialist” would result in loss of a job, loss of one’s family, and very possibly a trip to Siberia for a decade for “re-education.”

divisive, hateful, or anti-Semitic.

As long as it does not contradict the official narrative as controlled by the modern Pharisees regarding vaccines or disputed elections. Like the Chief priests, unwilling to do the dirty work themselves, the Pharisees in government clap with glee as “private companies” gut the First Amendment in order to maintain their totalitarian grip on acceptable discourse and “facts.”

This is the leaven of the Pharisees — they lawyer everything to death until the intent of the Law is completely undermined. Jesus Christ rebuked them for undermining the intent of the Fifth Commandment (Honor Your Father and Mother) with their legalese.

We have the same with the Second Amendment: “Sure you have the right to bear arms, as long as it only

holds ten rounds, isn’t larger than .50 caliber, does not have detachable magazines, no collapsing stock, flash suppressor, pistol grip, or looks like a military rifle. AND you must register it; with the federal police.

And we’ll put extra taxes on all the ammunition and require background checks on that too. And you can’t gift any firearm to your children unless you repeat the background checks and register a weapon to them.

After all, why does anyone need a firearm? This echoes the Pharisees — “after all, why do you need to financially support your parents — we’ll do that for you, so give the money to us.”

Every portion of the Bill of Rights has been undermined in this way.

Only Two Categories

ne of the first words that toddlers hear is “no.” Watchful parents are constantly on the lookout for anything that might harm their little boy or girl. On the other hand, if there is an observed action that they approve of, an enthusiastic “yes” is often proclaimed. Long before we understand the meaning of words, we understand that we should not do things where a “no” or a “bad” is heard while feeling comfortable doing things that our guardians fortify with a “yes’ or “good.”

Teaching children the difference between good and bad... right and wrong... what is acceptable behavior and what is not, is critical to their social development. This process continues outside the family and when children attend daycares, religious education programs, pre-schools, and all the grades that follow.

It is comforting to see life from this dualistic perspective, where everything is either a member of one class or the other. However, that comfort begins to diminish as we get older, and our “black or white” classification system moves steadfastly into increasingly more “gray” areas. The lines that had been drawn with such great resolute and precision become more and more blurred.

us and something we should never do, but yet, we see our mother smoking in direct opposition to her protestations.

“Using bad words” is something bad people do, but Uncle Joe, who we love, emits a string of them when he whacks his left thumb with a hammer. Drinking alcohol is not healthy for us, we are taught, but Grandpa is 84 and is still knocking them down.

We love our daughter and want her to be happy but have major problems with the man she loves and with whom she is engaged. More and more, things seem to increasingly fall into gray areas and make the application of our beliefs and the interpretation of actions more difficult.

The difficulty of clear cut classifications is not limited to just us. We see that judges, who we entrust with the ability to determine right and wrong, are themselves, often equally as conflicted. A lower court makes a decision, only for it to be reversed by an appeals court that still may yet be reversed by an even higher court ruling. And then there is the problem of inconsistency.

One political party decries the death penalty while actively supporting the murder of babies in the womb. The other stands firm in its support of life but has no problem with executions.

This dilemma of gray areas often causes us great stress as we struggle to have clarity in an increasingly chaotic world. We are told to believe

that this is the thing we need to eat to become healthier, and then, before long, that claim is disputed by new research. Bombarded by conflicting information on almost every topic, we often grow frustrated, stressed, and depressed, longing for the days of our youth when everything seemed to fit so neatly into one of two categories.

After many years of battling the “grays” of life, 25 years or so ago, I once again began putting everything into two categories, and my life has been more peaceful ever since. The first category is “immediate good.”

Writing this for you right now is in that category. So is being with my two dogs, being able to walk, talk, see, hear, feel, smell, and just about everything else.

I try to thank God for the wonderful moments I experience daily and do not do a very good job doing so.

Sometimes it requires a little creativity to be able to see immediate good. Not long ago, after a full day and night, I looked forward to getting in my car and driving home. Instead, I found it resting on a flat tire. As I mumbled to myself about how much I didn’t need this right then, I was hard-pressed to see any immediate good at the moment...until I saw and heard an 18-wheeler barreling down the interstate in the same direction I would have gone. I wondered if that truck “had my name on it”, and perhaps if I had been able to get in my car and drive away, I might have been killed. Worse yet, maybe I would not

have seen that guy that just emerged from the darkness and killed him.

Once again, another entry in the immediate good category.

I can find a way to interpret just about everything that happens to me and everything I see as immediate good. But every once in a while, something is so bad that I cannot do it, no matter how closely I look and how hard I try. A young mother of three dies of cancer... a child spends most of their young life in hospitals being treated for an incurable disease... a family loses everything they have in a flood or fire. Try as I might, I can see nothing in these “Why did God allow this to happen?” moments.

It is then that I know it is in the only other category possible... “eventual good.”

We may not be able to see or understand it now, but the time will come, maybe tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or perhaps not in this lifetime, but the time will come when we put our faith in God and know that He is a loving father whose love surpasses anything that we can imagine, there can be no other alternative. It is not for us to understand, only to trust. We need not look back, wistfully, at a simpler time when everything fit so easily into one of the only two categories that existed... they still do.

they were not good Democrats — they just weren’t fervent enough to satisfy the lust of the modern-day Pharisees for total ideological submission.

Citizens today are cast out of jobs, schools, and opportunities for acknowledging politically incorrect facts. This was the same with the man who simply acknowledged that Jesus healed him.

But there is good news. We have a champion. We have a political leader.

He rose from the Dead. His name is Jesus Christ.

We are in rebellion against the Pharisees — the million little totalitarians — who elevate their twisted traditions over the clear reading of both the Bible and the Bill of Rights.

Let us be clear — Jesus Christ was crucified for speaking a politically incorrect truth — He claimed to be One with God Almighty. The Pharisees objected to a theological point but truly feared the loss of their own power. They warned each other that they would lose their own positions

and the nation if Jesus were allowed to continue. And so, they murdered him.

Ahh, but He rose from the dead. We are witnesses to this fact.

So, our story continues. Shall we let these little totalitarians — these scribes and Pharisees — undermine our most precious and sacred ideals enshrined in the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence and the Ten Commandments? Or shall we allow the leaven of the Pharisees to hamstring our duty to be a great Christian nation while they wallow in their power and corruption and abuse our children by propagating deviancy in our schools? They have made it impermissible to object to institutionalized child abuse as they condemn “homophobia.” And we stand for this, still?

To be clear — Christians do not obey every little law the Pharisees impose upon us. Laws are minimal to the Christian. The Ten Commandments are all that God put upon His people. But today, the leaven of the

Pharisees would control our every word and action. Peter, Stephen, and Paul — rebels all — were repeatedly commanded to “no more speak to us in the Name.” Yet, they defied the Pharisees and High Priests and continued to spread rebellion in the heart of the totalitarian system they had too long endured.

Let us be like Jesus, Stephen, the blind man, and the heroes of Hebrews 11 who refused to be intimidated and who refused to obey man-made precepts that were no law at all. We must resist though they kick us out of their modern-day synagogues.

If this generation of men does not fight, then our descendants and ancestors alike will accuse us at Judgement Day. We have our examples.

We see what it cost them.

you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Salvation is easy for, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Having done that, it flows from the reborn spirit within us that we will follow Him, doing the works that He did as He leads us into all peace. And in His living word, He gives the formula for peace, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

There is an ancient Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.”

In America today, we find ourselves in the most interesting of times. So as the endless election winds down to its inevitable conclusion, whether we face the resistance, riots, and impeachment that will greet a Trump victory or the shabby world of Progressive authoritarianism devolving from a Biden win, don’t let it steal your peace.

As He prepared to pay the ultimate price to ransom our lives, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives

And no matter how confusing, challenging, or frustrating it may become, remember Jesus also said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Let us bear up under these interesting times knowing that our faith in Christ makes us not just followers of God but children of God, “and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

Don’t be discouraged; instead, hang on to your faith. Don’t forget that the blinding lights and roaring fury of this crisis are but a blink of the eye for, “with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” And “we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside, it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his

unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.”

Keep the faith. Keep the peace. We shall overcome.

Heavenly Father, thank you for a new year. May each of us be willing to begin anew with a clean slate. We know that you are always ready to forgive us.
