A W o m a n’s W o r l d Three women and three men are traveling by train to the Cup Final. At the station, the three men each buy a ticket and watch as the three women buy just one ticket. “How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?” asks one of the men. “Watch and learn,” answers one of the women. The three men take their seats but all three women cram into a toilet together and close the door. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the toilet door and says, “Ticket, please.” The door opens just a crack, and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The men see this hap-

pen and agree it was quite a clever idea; so, after the game, they decide to do the same thing on the return trip. When they get to the station they buy a single ticket for the return trip but see, to their astonishment, that the three women don’t buy any ticket at all! “How are you going to travel without a ticket?” says one perplexed man. “Watch and learn.” answer the women. When they board the train, the three men cram themselves into a toilet, and the three women cram into another toilet just down the way. Shortly after the train is on its way, one of the women leaves her toilet and walks over to the toilet in which the men are hiding. The woman knocks on their door and says, “Ticket please.”

W h a t ’s T h e G o s s Apparently Victoria Beckham has lost her ‘LA Best Buddy’ Katie Holmes after a series of disagreements concerning Katie’s marriage to Tom Cruise. Apparently Posh was becoming increasingly frustrated at the way in which Katie allows Tom to control her. (Sounds like a classic case of little man syndrome to me!) Posh also became increasingly aware that Katie was “copying her style” and did not appreciate her little clone come on Posh has no-one ever told you that imitation is the highest form of flattery and judging by recent reports no-one else is buying your fashion

range - so let Katie wear it!! Wayne Rooney is due to marry his childhood sweetheart Coleen McGloughin this month and it seems that whilst he has been finishing the footie season Coleen has been having millions of Hen Do’s. The couple have been rowing over Coleens partying and Wayne has been questioning her fidelity (like he’s one to talk after his little dalliance with prostitutes!). I wonder where this insecurity is stemming from in young Wayne, maybe it’s due to the fact that he has face that only a mother could love!!

Tax rebates may be due to Brits Thousands of Britons who sold a property in Spain between March 2004 and December 2006 could be owed a 20% tax rebate to the tune of £37 million - up to £11,000 each, including interest. British non residents who sold their Spanish properties during this period paid a Spanish Non Residents’ Income Tax rate of 35% on any capital gains, compared to a rate of 15% paid by Spanish nationals. This 20% overpay contravenes European Community Treaty rules on discrimination and therefore was unduly charged by the Spanish Government.

THE SIXTH SENSE My name is Paula Wratten and each month I will be writing an article about spiritual, psychic and philosphopical matters. This month the topic will be about the laws of attraction, in other words what we think, we create. This is not a new age idea, this philsophy has been around for hundreds of years with many books written on the subject and recently the book ‘The Secret’ was talked about on the Oprha Winfrey Show. The intention of these teachings was to share the knowledge that we can have anything our hearts desire through positive thoughts, whether that is wealth, health or happiness. These ancient teachings were recorded in stone some 3000 years ago but many religions tried to keep it from the masses. The laws of attraction works like this; whatever your thoughts are you attract, so the more you focus on something the more you attract that energy to you. An example would be when you wake up in the morning and feel miserable. The more you think about how you feel the more you draw unhappy thoughts to you, you leave the house and everything seems to conspire against you. That is because you are fixing your thoughts on unhappy experiences so the universe will send you more of the same. All your thoughts transmit energy so you become what you think, if you are a positive thinker that´s what you will attract. We also draw towards us what we resist most, so let go of your fears and see what happens. Changing the way you think takes time but with a little positive attitude who knows what you can achieve. Some good books to read on the subject, The Secret by Rhonda Bryne. The Law Of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Dear Costa Link... Nowadays, most people feel it is improper to spank their children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of ‘those moments.’ One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk. Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc. Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together…I've included a photo of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique. Yours Sincerely, Christina.

A M a n’s W o r l d Mercedes in your garage, a million euros in the bank, and seven inches in your pants.’ After reading the note, the man decided to compose one of his own in return. He folded the note, handed it to the waiter and instructed him to return this to the woman. It read: ‘For your information, I have a Ferrari Maranello, a BMW Z8, a Mercedes CL600 and a Porsche Turbo in my garage. There is over twenty million euros in my bank account. But, not even for a woman as beautiful as you would I cut three inches off. Just send the bottle back.’

A man entered his favorite restaurant and sat at his regular table. After looking around, he noticed a gorgeous woman sitting at a nearby table all alone. He motioned the waiter over and asked him to send their most expensive bottle of Merlot over to the woman, knowing that if she accepted the bottle, she would be his. The waiter took the Merlot to the woman and said, “This is from the gentleman seated over there.” indicating the sender. She regarded the wine coolly for a second, not looking at the man, and decided to send a reply note to the man. The waiter, who was lingering for a response took the note from her and conveyed it to the gentleman. The note read: ‘For me to accept this bottle, you need to have a

Things That Make You Go Mmmm Supplied by David Mayson Bladerunnerchef S.L.Tel: 951 165 045. Summer Pudding Best made a day ahead, allowing the juices to ooze into the bread casing, turning the lot into a juicy, vividly berry-red dome.

Servings: 6 Ingredients 1 kg mixed fresh berries (especially. raspberries and redcurrants) 50 ml water 175 g caster sugar 8 or so stale slices good white bread, thinly sliced Method 1.Combine three-quarters of the berries with the sugar and water in a small saucepan and gently heat until sugar has dissolved. Remove and add more sugar if too tart. Add almost all of the remaining berries and strain the fruit, keeping all the juices. 2.Remove the crusts from the bread, and cut a piece to fit the base of a one-liter pud-

ding basin or bowl. Cut the remaining slices into triangles or rectangles to cover the sides of the bowl. Now that you've assembled the shell, take each cut slice, dip it lightly into the reserved juices, and return it to its position in the bowl. 3.Add the berries, and some of their juices, and top with a final layer of bread, cutting to fit. Press lightly until the juices rise to the top, covering the bread. Place a saucer on top, weight it with a can, and refrigerate overnight. Refrigerate the remaining juices as well. 4.To un-mould, ease a knife between pudding and bowl, place a serving plate on top and invert. Spoon the reserved juices on top and arrange the reserved berries on top. Serve with crème fraiche, pouring cream or yoghurt.

June will be a good month on the business front but you will need to watch your old tendency to be impulsive or you may end up worse off. The 8th to 10th and 20th to 24th will be favourable times for you. You’ll lack energy and enthusiasm for work this month but the workload will suddenly start increasing after the 20th so prepare yourself! Try to finish any incomplete project or work before the 26th. You’ll be up to your neck in work for the first three weeks of the month. Stick with it though as there will be ample time during the last week for you to bask in the sun and enjoy a touch of romance. Although you’ll be busy through out the month and it will be filled with excitement, there is an air of gloominess about you. Think of all that’s positive and you’ll soon be back to your happier self. After great delay you are finally spending some much needed money on your home. However, wait until after the 19th before spending large amounts on this or a business project or investment.

Good luck is on your side, especially in June, but you’ll need to pay extra attention towards your partners needs and demands around the 18th as there could be some misunderstandings.

Cancer

Leo

Virgo

Libra

Scorpio

Sagittarius

You’ll take strong steps for financial improvement in June and it will start to bring success for you. However, it will be tough for you to control your emotions during the first three weeks of the month.

Your stamina and energy will be at its peak this month but the problem will be finding the right direction to channel this increased energy. By applying it to work or learning it will only bring you good. June seems to be a tense period of unrest in family and domestic matters. Along with that your health may be troublesome. On a positive note, work will flourish and projects will be completed early. You’ll be driven by a deep desire to express and improve yourself this month and put great effort into achieving this. Many of your professional problems will be solved and delayed deals will progress. June is always favourable for Scorpions for improvement with your profession. If you’re not your own boss, then now is the time to be so. Keeping a cool head during 18th-20th will eliminate financial troubles. You’ll feel restless this month and will want to make changes to your typical daily routine and lifestyle. Travel may well be on the cards but remember a change is just as good as a rest.

Hot Tub Jets In general, the more the merrier, and the more powerful the better. You also want adjustable jets, where you can control not only the air/water flow and mixture, but also the angle of the jet flow. Also, the positioning of the jets is important. Some come with special neck and back massage placements, some with special foot massage jets. If you have special needs or desires, make sure to look for those features. Next, consider the controls. Most hot tubs now come with digital read outs and controls, allowing you to see temperature settings, timer settings, etc. Most controls are quite basic, with a light on/off switch, temperature controls, jet pressure controls, and air mixture controls. Look for Balboa or Gecco control systems (the best). Hot Tub Covers. If you have small children around the house, you will want to get a locking hot tub cover to keep them safe. Other covers serve both as insulators to keep the water hot as well as to keep leaves and debris out. Always use your hot tub cover. It makes keeping your hot tub clean much easier. Buying a Hot Tub. Most hot tub retailers offer ‘wet-tests’, where you can test out units in the flesh (well, not naked, but at least wearing a bathing suit!) They will often do these after hours so you have a little privacy. If you are spending €5000 on a product definitely take the time to sit in one and try out the features. Try out a couple to see what you like and don't like about the different models; features, installation, maintenance information, etc. Chemicals for the Spa. Options are Bromine, Chlorine or Non Chlorine. As this is a much smaller body of water than a pool it is recommended you keep the chlorine levels slightly higher, most people do not like the smell of Chlorine or Bromine and look for other alternatives, there is a product called Aquaguard which is from the USA and available in Spain which is the best non chlorine product we have ever seen, using silver and copper as the main properties. And best of all it has no smell or problems for the skin.

B r i c k l a y e r’s a c c i d e n t r e p o r t . . . The next time you're having a bad day, think yourself lucky you’re not this guy! Dear Sir. I am writing in response to your request for additional information in section three of the accident reporting form. I put ‘Poor Planning’ as the cause of my accident. You asked for a fuller explanation, and I trust the following details will be sufficient. I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six-story building. When I completed my work, I found I had some bricks left over which when weighed later were found to weigh 240 lbs. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by using a pulley which was

attached to the side of the building at the sixth floor. Securing the rope at ground level, I went up to the roof, swung the barrel out and loaded the bricks into it. Then I went down and untied the rope, holding it tightly to ensure a slow descent of the 240 lbs of bricks. You will note on the accident reporting form that my weight is 135 lbs. Due to my surprise at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope. Needless to say, I proceeded at a rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel which was now proceeding downward at an equally impressive

B r i c k l a y e r’s a c c i d e n t r e p o r t . . . speed. This explains the fractured skull and the broken collarbone, as listed in section three of the accident reporting form. Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley which I mentioned in paragraph two of this correspondence. Fortunately, by this time, I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold tightly to the rope, in spite of the excruciating pain I was now beginning to experience. At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground, and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Now devoid of the weight of the bricks, the barrel weighed approximately 50

lbs. I refer you again to my weight. As you might imagine, I began a rapid descent down the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles, broken tooth and severe lacerations of my legs and lower body. Here my luck began to change slightly. The encounter with the barrel seemed to slow me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks and fortunately only three vertebrae were cracked. I am sorry to report, however, as I lay there on the pile of bricks, in pain, unable to move and watching the empty barrel six stories above, I again lost my composure and presence of mind. I let go of the rope!

C U R L U P A N D D I E m o m e n ts Reasons to crawl under a rock... I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, “How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job? An insurance man visited me at home to talk about our mortgage insurance. He was throwing a lot of facts and figures at me, and I wanted to follow as best I could, so I told my 6-year-old son to run and get me a pad. He came back and handed me a sanitary pad right in front of our guest. I was taking a shower when my 2 year old son came into the bathroom and wrapped himself in toilet paper. Although he made a mess, he looked

adorable, so I ran for my camera and took a few shots. They came out so well that I had copies made and included one with each of our Christmas cards. Days later, a relative called about the picture, laughing hysterically, and suggesting I take a closer look. Puzzled, I stared at the photo and was shocked to discover that in addition to my son, I had captured my reflection in the mirror wearing nothing but a camera! I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using. After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good looking gentlemen who works at

Without thinking, I looked at him and said, “I think I’d like to play with men's balls.” While in line at the bank one afternoon, my toddler decided to release some pent-up energy and ran amok. I was finally able to grab hold of her after receiving looks of disgust and annoyance from other patrons. I told her that if she did not start behaving "right now" she would be punished. To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening, "If you don't let me go right now, I will tell Grandma that I saw you kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!"

My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on at him constantly. One day we stopped at a very busy McDonalds. While enjoying my burger, I smelled something funny, and realising that Danny had not asked to use the potty in a while, asked him if he needed to go, “No” he said. “Are you sure you didn't have an accident?” I asked. “No” he replied. I just knew that he must have as the smell was getting worse. So I asked one more time, “Danny, did you have an accident?” This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over and spread his cheeks and yelled, “See mum, it's just farts!” While 30 people nearly choked to death on their burgers laughing,.

The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

Golf Tips And Tricks What Are You Trying To Do? by Mark Sibley of Miraflores Golf Academy Have you ever asked yourself what exactly you are trying to do when you stand over the golf ball? The two most popular replies I get to this question when I am coaching are:1. Hit the ball 2. Hit the target If you think about what you are saying, these are not the actually right answers. If you set up in the correct position, then as you swing return the club back to where it started, it will hit the ball, play it straight and then hit the target, so what you are really trying to do is return the club back to where it started as you strike the ball. T h i s makes the whole golf swing sound very easy, but if you look at other golfers there is always one in your club with the strangest swing, yet the ability to play a consistent straight ball. He can do this because he returns the club back to the position he addressed the ball in, playing the shot as he wanted to play it. You cannot stop the club at point of contact to check if it is returning back to your set position, but aiming to do it each time to play a shot will improve your consistency. It is the right thing to do when you play a shot.

Golf Academy Golfing about A man is stranded on a desert island, all alone for ten years. One day, he sees a speck in the horizon. As it gets a little closer he see that coming out of the surf is this gorgeous blonde woman, wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She comes up to the guy and says, “How long has it been since you've had a cigarette?” “Ten years!”, he says. She reaches over and unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes. He takes one, lights it, takes a long drag, and says, “Man, oh man! Is that good!” Then she asked, “How long has it been since you've had a drink of whiskey?” He replies, “Ten years!” She reaches over, unzips her waterproof pocket on her right sleeve, pulls out a flask and gives it to him. He takes a long swig and says, “Wow, that's fantastic!” Then she starts unzipping a longer zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit and she says to him, “And how long has it been since you've had some real fun?” And the man replies, “Wow! Don't tell me that you've got golf clubs in there!”

The Jokes Page “Don’t laugh!” Said the patient. “Of course I won’t laugh.” The doctor said. “I’m a professional. In over twenty years I’ve never laughed at a patient.” “Okay then.” The patient said, and proceeded to drop his trousers, revealing the tiniest ‘whooha’ the doctor had ever seen. It couldn’t have been bigger than the size of a AAA battery. Unable to control himself, the doctor started giggling, then fell laughing to the floor. Ten minutes later he was able to struggle to his feet and regain his composure. “I’m so sorry,” said the doctor, “I really am. I don’t know what came over me. On my honour as a doctor and a gentlemen, I promise it won’t happen again. Now what seems to be the problem?” The patient replied. “It’s swollen...” A maid goes to her employer and asks for a pay increase. Her boss wasn’t very impressed with this and asked the maid: “Maria, times are tough. I have to make do on the allowance my husband gives me. I'm not getting a raise. Tell me three reasons why you deserve one.” Maria says, “Well Senora, the first and you moan is that I iron better than about your job?... you.” “How do you know you iron better than me?” questioned the wife. “Your husband said so” the maid responded. “I see” said the wife. “The second reason is

64

that I am a better cook than you” said the maid. “Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than me?” the wife questioned. “Your husband did” replied the maid. “I see” said the wife. “My third reason is that I am a better lover than you” said the maid smugly. “Did my husband say that as well!?” the wife asked outraged. “No Senora, the gardener did” She got the raise. A guy fell asleep at the beach for several hours and got a horrible sunburn, specifically to his upper legs. He went to the hospital and was promptly admitted after being diagnosed with seconddegree burns. With his skin already starting to blister, and the severe pain he was in, the doctor prescribed continuous intravenous feeding with saline, electrolytes, a sedative, and a Viagra pill every four hours. The nurse, who was rather astounded, asked “What good will Viagra do for him doctor?” The doctor replied, “It won't do anything for his condition but it'll keep the sheet off his legs.” Going to check on her baby one night, a wife found her husband standing over their baby’s cot. Silently she watched him. As he stood looking down at the sleeping infant, she saw on his face a mixture of emotions: disbelief, doubt, delight, amazement, enchantment, scepticism. Touched by this unusual display and the deep emotions it aroused, with eyes glistening she slipped her arm around her husband. “A penny for your thoughts.” she said. “It’s amazing!” he replied. “I just can’t see how Ikea can make a cot like that for only €46.50.”

s r t e n PCeor Why do dogs chew? Adolescent chewing commonly occurs in dogs between puppyhood and adulthood and can last for up to six months. It is different from puppy teething as it happens after all the needlelike puppy teeth have fallen out. Reasons include the following: Boredom - dogs left alone for long periods or not getting enough mental and physical stimulation are likely to become bored. This can lead to destructive behaviour. Puppy teething - when puppies have an uncontrollable urge to chew to relieve some of the discomfort in their gums. Attention seeking - if your dog learns that chewing something forbidden (such as the TV remote) makes you get up and chase him around the room, the animal quickly learns that this is a great way to get attention. An unbalanced diet - for example, if not getting enough calcium your dog may try to compensate by chewing stones or plaster. Distress at being left alone - some dogs cannot cope with being left alone and are destructive when left.

Now at Designer Pets

What can be done about chewing? Supply your dog with items that are safe and tough enough to survive being chewed - this means they should not splinter, or break into small or harmful pieces that can be swallowed. Make sure the dog does not have access to places where there are valuable or dangerous items if you are not there to supervise. Regularly exercise your dog at least once a day. Teach your dog what is acceptable and unacceptable to chew. Always reward your dog for chewing the right things. Try to play with your dog at least three times a day, for at least five minutes each time. Leave at least one ‘safe’ toy down for them to play with at any time. An excellent choice for this is a chew toy such as a Kong (available from Designer Pets). This firm rubber toy, which bounces unpredictably, is hollow on the inside and can withstand lots of chewing. If you stuff biscuits inside the kong or smear some cheese spread inside, your dog will work to get the food out, and will lick and chew on the toy for some time. AS SEEN ON ‘LIVING IN THE SUN’
