Scholar Athlete of the Month
BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL
T
The Scholar/athlete for the month of January is Ryan McNeil, son of John & Linda McNeil. Ryan is 16th in his class with an 11.045 GPA. He is Vice President of Varsity Club, a member of Pep Club and the National Honor Society and is currently on the basketball team. Ryan plans to attend college to study Business or Criminal Justice.
he PHS varsity boys basketball team went 1-1 last
weekend bringing their record to 7-4. The coaching staff made some changes in the line-up and won a huge NLC conference game on Friday beating Concord 61-51. Senior, Ryan McNeil, led the Pilgrims with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Fellow senior, John Ruff, scored 14 points, had 3 rebounds and led the team in assists with 6. Sophomores, Mack Mercer and Tom Felke each had 8 points. Mercer also grabbed 5 rebounds. The Pilgrims struggled scoring against the Laporte Slicers the next evening losing 45-59 shooting only 28% in the first half. Mercer led the team with 15 points and 6 rebounds. McNeil added 9 points and Ruff grabbed 5 rebounds. Plymouth will host conference rival, Northridge, on Friday, Jan. 27, for Homecoming and host Mishawaka, on Saturday, Jan. 28. Both JV games start at 6:15 pm.

GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL
T
he PHS girls’ varsity basketball team is 4-11 on the
season. The Pilgrims went 1-1 last week losing to LaPorte 25-31. Junior, Amber Redinger, led the team with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Junior, Lauren Tanner, added 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Freshman, Hunter Stevens, had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Plymouth came back to pick up a conference win beating Concord 47-38 with 4 team members scoring in double figures. Stevens had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Fellow freshman, Haley Harrell had 12 points. Juniors, Redinger and Tanner each scored 11 points. Redinger led the team in rebounds and steals with 10 boards and 4 steals, and Tanner grabbed 6 boards. The Pilgrims travel to Wawasee on Saturday, Jan. 21, with the JV game at 6:15 pm. Plymouth will host S.B. Clay on Tuesday, Jan. 24, with the JV game at 6:00 pm.

GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL
T
he JV team is 11-4 on the season. Plymouth went 1-1 last week beating LaPorte 30-6 and losing to Concord 34-50. Against LaPorte, Kaydon Fosler had 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Dylan Holiday added 8 points. Allie Wright had 5 points, 3 assists and 5 steals. Against Concord, Holiday led the team with 14 points, Fosler had 11 points and 7 rebounds. Meagan Fisher had 3 assists and 7 steals. The Pilgrims travel to Wawasee on Saturday, Jan. 21, with the JV game at 6:15 pm. Plymouth will host S.B. Clay on Tuesday, Jan. 24, with the JV game at 6:00 pm.
GIRLS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL
T
he girls’ freshman team is 7-8 on the season. The young Pilgrims won two games last week beating Elkhart Memorial 23-17 and Columbia City 24-19. In the Warsaw Tourney, Plymouth beat Northridge and lost to Warsaw in the finals. Plymouth will host Northridge on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 pm and on Monday, Jan. 30, S.B. Adams at 6:00 pm. 9

BOYS SWIMMING
T
he PHS boys’ swim team lost to Elkhart Memorial 67-112 in a conference swim meet
last week. First place finishes went to junior, Brady Ruffing, diving, senior, Jared Hill, 500 free and sophomore, Tom Serf, 100 back. The boys’ team will travel to Tippecanoe Valley on Monday, Jan. 23, for a 6:00 pm meet. The Pilgrims will swim in the NLC Championships in the pre-lims on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Northridge and the finals on Saturday, Jan. 28, with diving at 9:00 am and the finals at 1:00 pm.

he girls’ swim team lost to Elkhart Memorial last week 68-113. Placing first for the Pilgrims were Layne Holloway, 50 & 100 free, Alayna Holmquest, diving, Lauren Page, 100 Fly & 100 back and Katelyn Brown, 100 breast. At the NLC Championships, Plymouth finished 8th. In the finals, Holmquest finished 5th in diving and the 200 freestyle finished 8th. The Pilgrims will travel to S.B. St. Joseph on Tuesday, Jan. 24, for their last regular season meet. Plymouth will compete in the IHSAA Sectional prelims on Thursday, Feb. 2, at Warsaw at 5:00 pm.

he JV team is 3-8 on the year. Last weekend, the Pilgrims lost to Concord 22-36 and to LaPorte 24-34. Plymouth will host conference rival, Northridge, on Friday, Jan. 27, for Homecoming and host Mishawaka, on Saturday, Jan. 28. Both JV games start at 6:15 pm.

he gymnastics team is 2-0 on the season in head to head competitions. The Pilgrims beat Lowell 97.5 – 79.95 and
Tippecanoe Valley 97.5 – 29.7. Freshman, Cassi Quissell, placed first in the vault, bars, floor and all around. Junior, Traci Longanecker, finished first in the beam second on the floor and all around. The JV won 62.4 – 37.1. The following seniors and their parents were honored before the start of the meet: Maggie Morrow, daughter of Dave & Chris Morrow, Mandy McPherron, daughter of Tony & Kris McPherron and Stephanie Rosas, daughter of Alfonso & Yolanda Rosas.
