Featuring:

28 yearling bulls and one two-year-old bull

Welcome

Welcome to the very rst ever High Point Charolais Breeders Bull Sale. If you miss it on the way up to our sale location, then I’m sure the view heading home will clear up any mystery to our chosen sale name. While it may or may not be the highest point in Ontario, it certainly holds distinction on a clear day as one of the most gorgeous views Jim, Susan & Laurie Baker Sunrise Charolais in the province: a ing backdrop to what we feel are some of the best industry-leading Charolais genetics to be offered for sale this spring. At one of the local fairs this past summer I was given a book by an older gentleman who I think was probably hoping to pass on something of a legacy. at book was entitled “White Gold, e Story of Charolais in Canada.” As I read and reread the story of how these mysterious white animals came to Canada in the rst place I couldn’t help but feel something of a kindred spirit with those rst pioneers. You see those guys desperately wanted the same thing that I think every progressive caleman still wants today—heavier, thicker weaned calves that will grow and grade like no tomorrow in the feedlot. For over 50 years now in Canada the Charolais and Charolais cross calves have continued to do just that. is sale offers many unique opportunities. ere are several sires represented that have been game changers in the Charolais industry including the likes of Freedom, Kaboom, Dateline Son and the calving ease great, Bluegrass. anks to the Briggs family we also have several French bulls to choose from including a couple of thick, powerful, highly sought aer Jezebel sons. Regardless of the makeup of your cowherd there is a bull in this sale that will work for you. It is also important to note that each bull comes from a fully vaccinated cowherd and will be semen tested prior to the sale. Please do not hesitate to contact us any time prior to the sale to discuss your unique requirements or to view the bulls. e door to a prosperous future in the beef business has been opened and we look forward to seeing you sale day.

How much can you afford to pay for a bull? CATTLEMEN’S FORMULA

Increase in pounds per calf from a high performance bull X number of cows bred to him per year X number of years you keep the bull X expected selling price of your calves = Additional dollars you can pay for a good bull Example: A bull that adds 30 lbs to the weaning weight of each of his calves mated to 25 cows per year for 4 years and selling the calves for $1.40/pound: 30 x 25 = 750 x 4 = 3000 x $1.40 = $4200.00 is means that a good bull is worth an ADDITIONAL $4200.00 MORE than the average bull that will keep your weaning weights the same. Given today’s prices those additional few pounds on your calves add up to huge dollars in your pocket come sale time.
