HUNTER CHAROLAIS
13TH ANNUAL BULL SALE
47 Charolais Yearling Bulls
THURSDAY APRIL 4TH, 2024, 1:30 PM DST
AT THE FARM, ROBLIN, MB
We would like to Welcome you to our 13th Annual Sale this year!
On behalf of the family, I would like to welcome you to our 13th Annual Bull Sale. If you are a past or present customer, or reading our catalog for the first time, we would like to thank you for your interest and support of our program.
The bulls are on a whole herd health program and they are fed balanced TMR ration to develop them. We feed these bulls to develop them to their potential and to guarantee longevity. Our breeding philosophy has remained the same for the last 40 years. We strive to produce bulls that are long made easy fleshing individuals that are structurally sound with depth of body and natural thickness. We love cattle that are free moving and know how to travel or as I like to say are “thrifty”. We are continually trying to increase the performance of our cattle without sacrificing calving ease or vigour at birth.
The Charolais premium is a real thing - we see it every fall with Charolais cross calves commanding top dollar in auction marts across the country. There is nothing more identifiable than a Charcross calf. Now is the time to try and get every pound out of your calf crop. We are at historic highs in the market that are long overdue for the cow calf producer.
The bulls are available anytime for viewing before the sale. If you are unable to make the sale we are more than happy to assist you making your purchase. Please contact us or our very qualified sales staff to help you assess the bulls and to make an optimal selection to achieve the goals for your operation. Your bids will be handled in a confidential and professional matter. We still absolutely encourage you to come and appraise the bulls yourself and to have a visit with us. The sale is also being broadcast using DLMS for those of you that wish to bid online. The bulls will all be videoed and these videos will be available by the middle of March.
The Hunters
MICHAEL AND CANDACE WELCOMED JETT LEO HUNTER ON JAN 4, 2024Lastly there are a lot people that help us make this operation and sale run. We’d like to extend our gratitude to them.
Hunter’s 13th Annual Charolais Bull Sale
is an event you will want to attend. The quality of the bull pen is extremely good with a couple of the top sire groups out of high sellers they raised and sold in the past. They were confident enough in these bulls that they retained semen and look at what they produced. There are a number of bulls that could work in any purebred operation across the country with a variety of pedigrees. Once again, this year’s offering covers a wide range of bulls that could work on your heifers, to bulls with as much performance as needed to give you the added pay weight that puts you in the top sort come sale time.
For over 40 years this family has been supplying bulls to the industry and with the long list of repeat customers, you know that the bulls work and they stand behind what they sell.
Hunters are committed to agriculture and the cattle business and will work with you to make sure you’re happy with the genetics you are buying. They know what works in the commercial industry as they have a large commercial herd themselves.
Sincerely,
Come for a great lunch, some down-home hospitality and look through the bulls before the sale, as it is a video sale and the bulls won’t be coming through the ring.
If you can’t make it sale day give any us or the family a call, or watch it live and bid online at www.DLMS.ca.
If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale, or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to find you bulls that are right for your program.

Bulls are done as calves with Pfizer Gold - BoviGold 5FP, One Shot, Ultrabac/Somnugen before going to pasture. They were boostered in the fall with the same vaccines and reboostered this spring with BoviGold 5FP and Ultrachoice 8. They have also been given an endectocide twice since fall. We love this bull a lot. This is the type of bull that we are striving to produce here. Long bodied, good footed, free moving with great shape and look. If you have a set of cows that you are trying to stretch out and add more lbs at weaning, have a look at Lego. His BW doesn’t concern me in the slightest, his mother is knocking on a being a ton cow. She is a no miss cow with a great udder.

HC JOHNSTOWN 113J
Homo Pld
Johnstown topped our bull sale in 2022 selling to Wilgenbusch Charolais and Ferme Louber. We used him in our AI program that year and have been very pleased with the results. They came easy at birth with user friendly birthweights and sure haven’t stopped growing. He stamped his entire calf crop with above average length of body, lots of hair and an easy doing demeanour. We are excited to get his daughters into production with him being out of our prolific donor cow, Lady Rain.

There isn’t enough O’s in smooth to describe this guy. If you analyze Lincoln through his front end, I do believe this guy is destined to calve like a dream. I feel like I’m starting to repeat myself in this sire group but I sure do admire this guy for how long and free moving he is.

Lochlan is an extremely correct, easy doing individual. If keeping replacement heifers is high on your selection criteria list, this guy is definitely worth a look. His mother is a family favourite here having an ideal udder and being a top producing female.
SVY TRUST 6H
We bought a semen pack in the SVY Trust 6H bull in the fall on 2020 after he had commanded 123,000 dollars at the Superstar Sale. We admired him for the performance he displayed and being backed with arguably the most famous cow family in the Canadian Charolais cow herd, the Starstrucks. His progeny have awesome hair-coats, are mellow dispositioned and have great testicular development. I think his sons are some of the most complete stout made bulls in the pen.
Liberator is an absolute tank. He is stout made, has a big hip and just has that awesome “herdbull’ head up front. His mother is Tank female that is doing a nice job here. Tank females are just like wine - they do nothing but get better with time. Use this guy to add lbs and thickness to your next calf crop.

HC Lotto 3119L immediately grabs your attention with how powerful and complete he is as soon as you walk into the pen. Lotto is a product of our embryo program and is one of the most intriguing individuals that we have ever produced. He has been a standout from the beginning. Lotto has that masculinity and herdbull look with early maturity that we have all been looking for. As he matures he keeps getting better and better. He is wide based and thick made. His back foot and structure are ideal and desirable. His mother is one of very best tank females and is a direct daughter of none other than HC Lady Rain 904G. This makes her a full sibling to the HC Johnstown 113J who has several sons in this very sale. He is in the top 4% of the breed for WW and top 10% of the breed for YW. He is a 100K tested and Leptin CT. Retaining ½ Semen interest.
Lieutenant is a long smooth made herd bull that has extra frame and will add lbs to your calf crop. He has an awesome set of EPDS being at least in the top 50% of the breed for every trait. The Ransom cattle we have had, have been some of our very best over the past few years and Lieutenant fits right into that bill.

HC HIGH COUNTRY 2H
Homo Pld
High Country was 2021 sale’s lot #1 bull and sold to Greg & Logan Ells at Stornoway. We sure loved him for his mass, thickness and hair. He has passed all of those traits onto his sons. It is very easy to pick out the High Country progeny in the pen, easy doing, loads of mass and tons of hair. His progeny all have quiet dispositions and are a pleasure to work with. He is siring the type of cattle that are right for the times.
Lot 16
Lumber Jack is one of the pen favourites here this year. You have to love how thick made, easy doing and how hairy he is. His mother is a Downtown and one thing that is for sure, with the Downtown in the pedigree—the progeny will be easy doing and big bellied.

Laredo is one of the first bulls that people consistently find in the pen. He is as stout as anything in the pen and has a puppy dog disposition. He went from a 92 lb birthweight up to a 205 ADJ over 800 lbs. With that he is sure to add performance to your calf crop without sacrificing calving ease.

HTA ROCKET 894F
I got looking at last year’s catalogue and I realized how consistent the Rocket bull has been, when I can almost write the same footnote word for word. Rocket is one of our walking herd sires. He has an abundance of muscle and shape of body that we admired a lot, when we decided to add him to our program. He is sound footed and great headed. There is longevity built into this guy from his dam’s side where she produced to 15 years of age at HTA Charolais operation. Rocket is a maternal brother to the HTA Astroid bull that has been doing such an awesome for the HTA Crew. I do believe this is one of his best sets of sons that we have ever had to sell.

This guy is what being a Tank is all about, coming small and growing like crazy. Label is definite worth checking out sale day. You really have to admire his natural muscle shape and how long made he is. Being smooth shouldered and clean fronted I sure think this guy can add performance while maintaining calving ease. His dam is without a doubt one of our favourite young cows around the farm and the granddam 621 is for sure one of our best cows.

If you’re looking for a sure fire heifer bull, Lookout is the bull for the job! He has calving ease on both sides of his pedigree top and bottom and started out with a heifer friendly 75 lb birthweight. He is smooth made through his front end and extremely correct made. His mother was our pick of the CK Stock Farms heifer calves and sure didn’t disappoint with her first consignment. She has an absolutely gorgeous udder.

Garcia has been a mainstay in our heifer pen for several years. He consistently sires sons that are smooth shouldered, clean fronted and are sound on the move. If you are looking for a sure-fire calving ease bull, look at any of his sons. Several of his sons will work in the heifer pen.

Laid back is one of the biggest bellied softest made bulls we have on offer this year. You really have to admire just how much capacity and spring of rib he has while still being long made and being able to get out and move freely. He is destined to sire those Charolais calves that the order buyers fight over.
