Welcome to the 12th Annual NO BORDERS

Select Sale Welcome to the 12th Annual No Borders Select Sale with consignments from eight top breeders from Manitoba

and Saskatchewan. I am really excited about the quality in this year’s sale with breeders digging deep in their keeper pens. There really is something for everyone. Want proven producers? We have seven cow/calf pairs. Want Red? There are seven dark red females. Want Full French? This is the largest offering available this fall with 10 selling. As a testament to the quality, over the years, cattle have sold into seven provinces and into six U.S states. The consignors are dedicated breeders, many who have been in the business for many decades and will stand behind the quality they are offering from the heart of their programs. Book your room early at the Jay’s Inn and Suites hotel and if you have trouble getting one, ask for one under the No Borders block or contact us and we will help get one booked for you. There are truly endless opportunities in the Charolais breed, and we encourage you to come and join in these exciting times with us. The bull market is expanding and Charolais is picking up market share with the Charcross calves topping the market again. The commercial market this fall is the highest it has ever been for all classes of cattle and with cow numbers down in North America, it should be good for many years. You are welcome to view the sale cattle at the farms before hand, or the day before when they move into the auction market, or the morning of the sale. If we can be of any assistance before the sale to facilitate your purchasing, please don’t hesitate to contact us, any of the consignors, or sale staff. If you can’t make it to the sale, you can bid online at DLMS.ca Always in the best interest of Charolais, Helge & Candace By Sale Manager:

AI Bred April 23 to Silverstream Padra P7 Madison is one of those females that just catches your attention when out in pasture. She goes back to my #65 cow family that screams fertility, as she herself gained over a month calving after her first calf, that is rare let alone be heavy milking. She is top 1% in the breed for milk. Not only that, I kept her first bull calf for our heifer pen, so more of her genetics will be staying in the Pleasant Dawn Program. Already a proven producer bred to a bull I’m excited about, the Homozygous Polled Silverstream Padra, a bull that will leave you your next herdsire or a female that will have lasting imprint like the #65 has in my herd.

Jericho is a total outcross with a perfect foot. His ultrasound had a huge 17.4 inch rib eye and his marbling ratio was 126 against top 1% competition. Just unbelievable how Jericho tops those antagonistic traits. Highway 21 and Pleasant Dawn are excited to get these calves next year and here is your chance.

At Pleasant Dawn, calving ease to performance with maternal traits are what we’ve selected for since the beginning. Transport might just be the best, as his 205 day weight was 795 with no creep. He also was a tank with big nuts. When people from around the world saw him out in pasture, they were in awe.

When deciding which ones to part with, this cow family came to mind. 16J’s mother 56A was purchased out of the No Border sale as a bred. She has always been a top producer with bull calves being the first selected from the pen, to having our largest cow family on the farm. 16J is a very good representation of what the 56A cow family is doing. 16J has a very promising future ahead of her, beautiful udder, great feet and extremely quiet.

When we contacted Helge and asked what he needed for the sale, he said more breds. So we dug deep into our bred heifer pen this year. This Eldorado daughter comes right from the top of our pen. She has a very strong maternal side built into her. Kraftie is a beautiful female that is deep bodied and has a great hip. She has a sturdy hoof under her and a very nice udder developing. She has been exposed to our easy calving specialist Cedarlea Jordan 60J bull. This is a bred heifer we should be keeping and pushing our herd forward, but I’ve always been told if you want to promote your herd sell from the top. So that’s what we are doing. Buy with confidence in this bred female. Exposed April 28 to August 20 to Cedarlea Jordan 60J, due in February.
