Welcome

With all of us in the cattle industry surrounded by the dismal and chaos of today’s reality it is with great pleasure that we welcome everyone to the Platinum Picks Charolais Female Sale: Volume II. It has been an interesting 12 months since our last sale catalogue welcome; with lockdowns, re-openings, missing loved ones and being able to congregate again. One thing that has remained constant is the market share in the cattle industry that the Charolais breed has demanded, rightfully so. Whether it be in the finishing pens or the front pasture, the Charolais breed has it together to lead this industry into a new era of efficiency and profitability. The same breeders that brought the quality offering of Charolais females to you last fall is back again, greater than ever to offer you more cattle from the nucleus’ of our programs. This year we have added a couple new consignors, Packer Charolais and Alton Century Farm. Both of these breeders have a similar goal in mind with their herds as our other consignors; quality, correct females from the ground up with above average milk production and performance. We would also like to welcome Tim Bullick back as a Sale Consultant, he is an excellent source for cattle knowledge and is very familiar with the consignors and their cow herds. As you peruse the pages of this catalogue you will find almost everything that the industry could want: show heifer calves, big powerful bred heifers, due early, fancy feminine bred heifers due to calve in the spring, bred cows that have already began to prove their worth and frozen

ALTON CENTURY FARMS genetics that are tried and true. You can be sure that when you make a selection from our sale that we will stand behind the product and give as much support as we can. These cattle are our livelihoods and we are very proud of what we have on offer. With CCYA youth show being planned for 2022 in Renfrew, Ontario we realize that some breeders from the western provinces may be wishing to purchase heifer calves to have ready for the show next year. This is definitely an option, this should be discussed with individual breeders to determine how we are able to support you best. We realize that the feed situation in the prairies is dire and if there is any way that we as consignors can assist with purchases please discuss with us and let us know how we can help. If you are in the market for the good looking kind that simply produce and carry the value of shear production that the Charolais breed excels on, please plan to be with us on Saturday October 30th - in person at Hoards Station Sale Barn or online with DLMS. If any of the consignors can be of help to you in your selection, please feel free to reach out. Also, please utilize our sale team as they know the cattle well and are great resources for breed information.

Through good and bad in the cattle industry it is good ones like 630D that make the industry so palatable. It is with great excitement that we at DANG Charolais offer up one of our top donors for frozen genetic opportunities. We have an excellent relationship with Prairie Cove Charolais (the Bullick family) and have not been steered wrong by their cattle. We have been very successful in producing frozen genetics from our top donors over the past couple years and have began to build a herd around these ET offspring. We have her embryo calves on the ground this year as well as a couple in the bred heifer pen. She has been mated successfully to several different sires including Rhinestone, Famous and Fireball. 630D is a phenotypically flawless female with lots of milk, depth and all on top of some of the best feet you will come across in the breed. She is the type of cow that will last a very long time. She is not pampered here at all, running with the whole herd. When my great friend and mentor Tim Bullick told me they were putting 630D in the Alberta Select Sale I knew she needed to come to Ontario and become a DANG donor. 630D is currently open and ready to flush. As Lot 1A, we are selling the right to flush 630D. The buyer has the choice of the sire for the flush, the buyer is welcome to flush to any bull in the DANG Charolais bull battery or semen inventory (for example: SVY Trust or HVA Fireball). 44

Embryos/Bred Cows As Lot 1B, we are also selling one package of three grade #1 embryos off of PCC 630D and sired by SVY Trust. Trust was the eye catching and high selling bull in last fall’s Superstar Sale and we are very excited to be in on the ground floor of this young breed changing sire. Trust genetics will be few and far between this early in his lifetime so take advantage of this genetic package while it is available. CONSIGNED BY DANG CHAROLAIS

This is one of our feature lots this year! A female with a pedigree that will catch the eye of most Canadian cattlemen. When we started getting serious about the Purebred Charolais business we purchased some embryos from PCC to jump start our program. This female is the result of some of those eggs. Her sire is the performance bull Pastor and her dam is none other than PCC 314A, one of Prairie Cove’s most sought after donors. 314A always kept her condition and sported a tidy udder, this female is no different. Take a close look at this one, genetic opportunities like this don’t come along everyday.

We had the misfortune of losing her March 6th, 2021 bull calf that came backwards but she rebred right back to Blackbern Garret 20G for a January calf. Pairs This female was our grandson’s first 4H project so it was a tough sell to get him to agree to part with her. She is a Merit Roundup female and also goes back to JWX Fifty Shades; that was an excellent herd sire for us. She has been an excellent milker and great mother as a first calf female. She would be a great addition to any herd. The Roundup females are good producers that last in all climates and breeding programs, they are not always the prettiest but they are honest to goodness producing kind. Bred Heifers Pedigrees are important, so is individual design and proven production. This female incorporates all of these pillars into a very attractive package. Her pedigree stems from some of the very first genetics I started out with and two of the cornerstone cows that I have built my herd around, the Ice Princess cow and the Starstruck female. Her design is unique but striking with a long side, plenty of grow and a nice tidy udder just starting to drop. The production of the Starstruck and Ice Princess families speaks for itself with the number of high sellers to other programs over the past number of years. This young female is serviced to DR Revelation to allow for proven calving ease and added style, due early.

We have just a few Wizard calves and so far we like what we see. This is a good calf, deep, hair, smooth in her make up and a dream to work with. Would make a great junior project as I’m sure we will get back to a world we were once used to. Bid with confidence, this is a sweet heifer. CONSIGNED BY ANNUROC CHAROLAIS

PLATINUM PICKS VOLUME II 5J’s dam is definitely a pasture favorite at our farm, and this heifer is growing up to be just like her. This eye catching female would make an unreal show heifer! CONSIGNED BY PACKER CHAROLAIS

This heifer is a real eye catcher, long sided and deep throughout her rib. She is sired by the Carlos Bull that puts his stamp of excellence on each one of his daughters and out of a heavy milking Mr. Perfect daughter. She is an excellent show prospect for next year. These Carlos heifers have extra style, a good foot and lots of grow. The Turton mixed with the rugged performance genetics makes these calves very appealing! CONSIGNED BY MACK’S CHAROLAIS

Open Heifers When we started breeding last spring with White Bear and when we started calving this year we were excited for the outcome of this breeding. Her mother is one of the best females in the herd with a deep side, long body and lots of milk. The performance of Ledger combined with the showiness of White Bear makes this female a very attractive cow prospect. The White Bear calves that have sold so far in Canada have been very expensive, take this opportunity to add one to your herd off of a great cow family to boot! 6J is just a sweetheart of a heifer! She’s out of a first calver that we purchased at the National sale in Toronto a couple years ago. With the calving ease built into her mother and of Monsoon, this heifer should go on and calf out easily down the road. Another excellent junior project for next year, packed with a powerhouse Pedigree. CONSIGNED BY ANNUROC CHAROLAIS

PLATINUM PICKS VOLUME II Here is the show heifer prospect! We have a lot of excellent show help around here and this is one of the calves that we have been working on all summer taking her to shows. She has been very competitive all year long. She is a full sister to Amabec Hilary 4H who sells as Lot 16. The CCYA show is here in Ontario in 2022 and this would be an awesome female to be able to exhibit at that show. Ask Josh Bell how these Revival daughters work as show heifers, they are easy going and competitive. CONSIGNED BY AMABEC CHAROLAIS

We have only had a couple Wizard calves and they have both exhibited the same characteristics: excellent foot structure, adequate muscle expression and femininity. This heifer can have a future as a show heifer as well as a brood cow. Her mother has produced several top females including a heifer calf that was sold to Springside Farms in AB. Jubilee is only an April heifer calf, she has had time to change since her photo and video so adjust your glasses and take a close look at her on sale day! CONSIGNED BY BOGART CATTLE COMPANY

Open Heifers This little heifer calf is a real eye catcher, she is fancy fronted, long sided and deep through her rib. She is going to be a really nice show heifer for some young person next year! Already broke and hair that most show people dream for. Her sire is a son of the past Royal Champion, SOS Chuckwagon. This little female is only a March baby but, I dont think you can go wrong!
