To Steppler Farms A Piece of the Program Female Sale Welcome to our 4th Annual Piece of the Program Sale. Once again, we are offering a standout set of young females that we are extremely proud of. Our goal is to produce females that are correct, angular, sound footed, with great udder conformation and the capacity to wean off a great calf. It has been exciting to travel across Canada and see our Steppler females making an impact in so many herds.
It has been no secret how trying this fall has been for producers across the west. We have had to make a few changes here on the farm to accommodate the wet conditions. My apologizes for the late pictures, and the offering carry a little more mud. We couldn’t wait for the ground to freeze up and don’t plan on thinking about spring anytime soon.
This year we have again selected unique cow calf pairs that highlight our senior herdsires, including the great Braxton, female makers Seminole and Monaco, the performance leader Burnin it Down, and the show ring champion Crowd Favourite. To enhance these great foundation females, we bred them to leading genetics. El Paso’s service and offspring of our Junior herdsire is at the forefront again this year. What a great breeding bull El Paso has become. We have also selected females bred to our new up and coming junior herdsires, including HBC Flagstaff, CAYS Full House and Sparrows Grayson.
The bred heifer group is truly one of the most consistent we have put forth to date and highlight our great sire groups including Braxton, Contender, Crowd Favourite and Winchester. These prospects are bred to our new heifer bull Char-Maine Odessa 20F. Not only will he be a calving ease specialist, the maternal traits run deep into this pedigree. Select heifers are also bred to Braxton and Winchester.
The set of heifer calves really highlight the power of our herdsires. What a consistent group that allows for 4H/Juniors to select herd building genetics. This group features the CAYS Full House bull! Make sure you take the time sale day to tour the set of Full House bull calves. Tremendous set worth a look!

The 2019 version of sharing “A Piece of The Program” is again just that. Steppler Farms have dug deep into the top of their 600 head of purebreds to share some of their front-end females with you. When you have this number of cattle it allows you the ability to take from the top and not hurt the depth of the program. This operation has spared no expense in buying the best herd bulls available and for many of them this is the only place you can buy those genetics. They have also added some top AI services to compliment and compare what they are doing within the industry.
The early blast of snow in October definitely complicated life for everyone in southern Manitoba and if you follow Andre on social media, you would have seen the struggles they had getting cows home after most fences were downed. Pictures for the sale catalogue had to be postponed and done in the corrals due to the mud and conditions in the fields.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit with Andre, give him a call or see him at one of many events this fall. Opportunity knocks! My pick of the Braxton 104A embryo heifers born here at Steppler Farms. Super correct and deep chested heifer here. 104A has been successfully shown as a bred winning Reserve National Champion Female. 104A was sold through the Agribition sale topping it at $18,000 to Dale and Natalie McKay of Brandon, MB. 104A and her Blue Value bull calf, Steppler Blue Print 64C, were brought back again and won the Grand Champion Charolais Female at the Brandon Ag-Ex in 2015. Steppler Blue Print 64C sold through our bull sale and topped the sale selling to Turnbull Charolais, Pincher Creek, AB. 104A has continued to develop into a front pasture broad cow. We bought Braxton because we believe he has the potential to take our cow herd to the next level. By teaming up with Beck Farms, Lang SK, we were able to purchase this breed leader who ended up as the highest selling bull in Canada that year. Braxton is one of the most impressive bulls that we have ever had walking at Steppler Farms. Braxton is so fluid in his stride; he is quiet, deep chested, huge hipped, with perfect structure, and he comes from a tremendous cow. The calving ease in this sire is second to none. The calves have a tremendous amount of vigour at birth and never look back. The Braxton females are simply awesome. Hd Health
Production and efficiencies are very important on our farm. We have a short, intensive breeding program. All females are AI bred for efficiencies and calculated matings. We try to get 95% of the cows exposed in the first cycle with a 70- 75% conception rate. Correct, accurate nutrition, high quality semen, and time invested in heat detection and inseminating are the keys to achieving this target. Once the cows go through the 28 day AI program, the herdbulls go to work. Since most of the cows have conceived already, the herdbulls finish the job. The mature bulls easily travel throughout the last 32 days of the breeding program. All females are pregnancy checked early in the summer and culls and opens are taken out.
We maintain a high and rigorous herd health regime as outlined below. This enables us to have a successful breeding program and ensures potential buyers of the high health standards of these sale cattle.

Every 4-H or CCYA member under 21 in attendance on December 18th will receive a $500 sale credit* *One credit per junior (4-H or CCYA member), one credit per animal and must be transferred to the Junior.
Tms & Contions
Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Breeder Guarantee – Females: As per the Canadian Charolais Association Code of Ethics. Copies are available at the settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations. Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day. Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
