Sy het gesê hulle wil hê leerders moet op hul hoede wees as hulle huis toe loop. “Hulle aandag moet gerig wees op hul onmiddellike omgewing en moet eerder die speletjies op hul selfone los vir as hulle veilig by die huis is.” Van Rensburg het bygevoeg leerders moet in groepe beweeg en nie op hul eie nie, sodat rowers twee keer kan dink of hul wil toeslaan of nie.

Dié waarskuwing volg nadat ses vermeende rowers verlede Donderdag in hegtenis geneem is nadat hulle vermoedelik in drie afsondelike voorvalle betrokke was waar hoërskool-leerders oorrompel, gedreig en van hul selfone beroof is. Riaan Marais berig in drie afsonderlike voorvalle verlede week is leerders van die Hoërskool Andrew Rabie en die Hoërskool Lawson Brown omstreeks 1.30nm. van hul selfone beroof toe hulle op pad huis toe was. “Die Andrew Rabie-leerders, albei 17, is na bewering deur twee mans genader. Een van die mans het ’n speelgoed-rewolwer op hulle gerig terwyl die ander hulle deursoek het,” het Van Rensburg gesê. Die leerders het egter naby die skool ’n polisievoertuig gevind en die beamptes van die voorval vertel. Binne minute was die polisie op die verdagtes se spoor en is hulle in Hollandpark vasgetrek. PR students host event for awareness on disabilities TANYA VAN ZYL FOUR Public Relations Management students from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) are organising an event for Port Elizabeth, called Entrepreneurs for Disability, to create awareness of physical and intellectual disabilities in and around PE. These four students, Danielle Brill, Shavaughn Wilken, Tiphany Harmse and Nosandi Minti, have to organise the event as part of their course. Entrepreneurs’ Day for Disability will be held on Saturday, September 10, from 10am to 3pm, at the grounds of the

Merryvale School for Specialised Education. According to Brill, the event also strives to “motivate children living with these disabilities to become self-supporting through entrepreneurship.” The main participants of the event will come from Merryvale School, Northern Lights School, Quest School and a few independent children. The event will consist of a flea market, where the schoolgoing children with disabilities will have their own stalls from which they may sell or promote their own creations. There will also be fun and games taking place on the day of the event. These include the traditional sack, potato and wheelbar-

row races, and pin the tail on the pig. There will also be jumping castles and face-painting available. Local DJ’s, the Munnibrotherz, will be providing entertainment. An appearance will be made by Mr Pritt, as well as Mikaela Oosthuizen, Miss SA Teen, who will give a talk on life with her older sister, who is mentally challenged. “For an event like this to be possible, we have relied purely on sponsorships and donations,” Brill explained. Companies and individuals who are supporting the event include Marquee Tent Events, St John Ambulance, Lezaan’s Jumping Castles, Superior vision, Ann Snyman and Antoinette Esterhuyse.

Wear red socks on Fridays in support of kids with partial hearing FRIDAYS have become synonymous with green rugby jerseys to support the national rugby team. But now a local charity organisation, the Urban Sky Trust, is encouraging people to combine their green and gold jerseys with red socks in support of children with partial hearing. Redsockfriday has this week been launched in the Eastern Cape as part of National Deaf Awareness week with the aim of selling 30 000 pairs of socks by Remembrance Day 2011 on the 11-11-11. According to Janet Pereira of the Urban Sky Trust in Port Elizabeth, Redsockfriday will be donating a percentage of all sales of Red Sock apparel in the Eastern Cape to the Urban Sky Trust to assist with funding extra reading lessons for learners in the Greenwood Primary School Partially Hearing Unit with reading difficulties

Remembrance Day was chosen as the day is closely linked to the concept of Redsockfriday.com which was first launched in 2010. “Two friends wanted to find something that could represent the friendship they had built during their travels and remind each other of the energy and passion that they shared no matter where their future paths may take them,” said Janet. They chose red socks because one of the friends recalled his experiences at the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at his school. “The veterans who arrived each year were the same and the faces became weirdly familiar. One in particular was the oldest of them all. He must have been 90 years plus, hobbling up to the epitaph, laying his wreath every year. The reason he was

remembered was that he wore Red Socks every single year,” said Janet. The legend goes that he and two of his best friends were sent north to fight in the Second World War. They made a pact with each other, that whoever made it through the conflicts alive, should have a sign that was always visible to remember their friendship. A pact was made and they chose red socks. “This man kept his promise and celebrated all that he held dear every day of his life. It is impossible to quantify their brotherhood, friendship and human connection, but this man had it in abundance,” said Janet. “Redsockfriday, means all that this one man believed in and it is shows its connection to humanity by supporting the Urban Sky Trust in the Eastern Cape,” said Janet. Free testing during Deaf Awareness Week

DEAF Awareness Week, which is currently taking place until September 3, is held annually to draw attention to the severity and possible prevention of hearing impairments, as well as persons living with a partial or profound hearing loss. As part of this week, The Urban Sky Trust, a foundation for partially hearing children, will offer free hearing tests for the public at the Greenwood Primary School’s partially hearing unit. The Trust works closely with the Greenwood Primary School Partially Hearing Unit, the only school dedicated to partially hearing children in Port Elizabeth. The hearing screenings are being done (Monday to Friday) until September 9. The times are from 8.30am. to 1.30pm for children and 2pm to 4.30pm for adults. According to Janet Pereira of The Urban Sky Trust, “the aim of Deaf Awareness Week

is to promote a positive attitude towards caring for your ears, the function of hearing and also bringing awareness to deaf people and the deaf culture.” The Urban Sky Trust also raises funds during the year for the learners in the Greenwood Primary School Partially Hearing Unit to assist learners with extra reading lessons. This year they are running a Win a Car Competition to raise funds for the reading lessons. Tickets are R50 each and are available from the Urban Sky Trust or at Eastern Cape Motors in William Moffet Expressway. Speirs, a proud Friendly City resident, said she is also at the same time a little sad, because on the same weekend she has to hand over her Mrs Port Elizabeth title to the new title bearer. She added her husband is very supportive and also very happy for her. At the pageant in Johannesburg, the semi-finalists will be subjected to interview sessions and swimwear judging after which 20 finalists will be appointed. The finalists will be officially introduced and announced during a media breakfast taking place on Sunday, September 4. The newly appointed Mrs South Africa Pageant for 2011 director, Joani Johnson, said she is very excited and is plan-

ning big things for this year’s pageant. “I want to bring the Mrs South Africa competition to its full right – I think the pageant has major potential.” Johnson was crowned Mrs South Africa in 2009 and has been involved with the company ever since. The 2011 Pageant Week and the Crowning Gala will – for the first time ever – take place in the Western Cape at the International Fancourt Golf Resort and Hotel in George. The Top 20 finalists will compete at the final event by partaking in the Pageant Week where judging sessions, photo shoots, rehearsals,

glamorous events and media interviews will take place. Pageant Week will kick off on Sunday, November 6, with the gala evening happening on Saturday, 12 November. Well-known South African celebrities and top designers will also attend the function. Factors that influence a child according to stages in his/her life: Pre-birth: Inherent personality/ temperament Birth: Environment Ages 1 – 6: Word expression and adult acceptance/affirmation Ages 6 – 10: Self-image and exposure to new experiences Ages 11 – 21: Peers, physical appearance Self-esteem patterns start early in life. After every milestone reached, a child experiences a sense of accomplishment that bolsters his/her selfesteem. The concept of success following persistence also starts early in life. Adult involvement in helping a child to form an accurate and healthy self-perception is very important because children create a self-perception based on interactions with others. . Environment: The environment is a greater controlling factor in the establishment of a childs self-esteem than any inherited traits. The environment is the first influence of a child’s belief system. The foundation of the self-esteem is built in the environment in which the child is born. . What children hear: Long after children’s bruises are gone and their physical pain disappears, the inward pain of hurtful words still remains with them and has an impact on their

self-esteem. . Adult Acceptance: An adult’s acceptance of a child plays an important role in the establishment of the child’s self-esteem. The parent as the most important adult in the life of a child: The parent must express an appreciation of the child’s capabilities in a loving manner in order to prevent the child from being hesitant about his/her own abilities that can lead to a low self-esteem. . Child’s self-image: Self-esteem fluctuates as the child grows, and is affected by the child’s experiences and perceptions. The parent must therefore be aware of the signs of both a healthy and an unhealthy selfesteem. A child’s outward actions will often reveal his/her inner pain. It is important to teach children that the way they see themselves reflects how others see them. Improving a child’s self-esteem: . Find out what the child’s strengths and weaknesses are. This can only be established after a relationship has been built. Focus on the strengths and be child-focused, not problem-focused. Constantly motivate a child with low self-esteem and reinforce his/her strengths and abilities in order to prevent a sense of pessimism dominating his/her life. . Expose the child to new experiences and opportunities for growth. Children need continual reassurance and praise during new experiences in their lives. . By communicating with a child, the parent can develop the self-esteem of the child by helping him/her to become aware of his/her own needs. Children must be allowed to resolve their own situations and be guided to independence by allowing them to

resolve their own problems. . With a child who has a low selfesteem, encourage him/her to talk, in order to enhance his/her abilities to pursue independent activities and to become comfortable in social settings. But be extremely careful of what you say to children who have a low self-esteem, as these children are extremely sensitive. . It is imperative for a parent to identify the child’s irrational beliefs about himself, whether they are about perfection, attractiveness, ability or anything else. Help the child be more realistic about him/herself. . Be spontaneous and affectionate with the children. This attitude will boost their self-esteem. . Association with peers: Children respond to the expectations of others such as their peers (equals). It is important to know that what children experience in their lives now, will determine what they will become in the next five years. . A child’s physical appearance: The way a child looks also plays an important part in the construction of his/her self-esteem and attitude. A lot of pressure is placed on the looks of a child. A child with a good physical appearance will have a better selfesteem than a child with a less attractive physical appearance. . Willingness to change: The key to having a positive self-esteem is the willingness to change. A child must be motivated to forget about the past and to disregard the negative. . Teach children to deal with failure: A child must know that every successful person is someone who failed yet never regarded him/herself as a failure. Doubtful thoughts about oneself are damaging to one’s self-esteem. Children must learn to overcome adversity and mistakes and not to take failures personally.

Little ones model to raise funds for their pre-school ZELDRÉ SWANEPOEL LITTLE boys and girls will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk, all in aid of making their pre-school a better place to learn and play. The Ben 10 pre-school is turning a year old and will be holding a modelling show on September 2 for their 20 Grade R learners. The school is situated at the Sydenham Baptist Church, and is in dire need of educational toys and equipment such as puzzles, books, motorcycles and arts and crafts. “We are a Christian school and we try to teach our children good, sound Christian values and morals. We have a very diverse group of children from different nationalities,” said Cheryl van Zyl, supervisor. “We do, however, need a few things to make the environment

more condusive to learning. That is why we are having a fundraiser in the form of a Mr and Miss Ben 10 modelling show.” Principal Maudie Schentke added that they also hope the experience will give the children more confidence. “Overall we hope that it is an evening where the parents come and support and encourage their children so they can learn and grow from the experience,” she said. The children will be modelling in three categories, namely, casual wear, sports wear and formal wear. Three judges will choose the Mr and Miss Ben 10. The show is hosted in aid of charity and the beneficiaries of the show are the Liebenhaus Children’s Home and the Dolphin Coast branch of the South African Cake Decorators’ Guild (SACDG). It appears that issues relating to geyser replacement in a sectional title scheme have got more than one reader steamed up.

The typical scenario presented to our experts seems to be that there is insurance in place to cover the replacement of a burst geyser. However, the sectional title owner is then held responsible for the excess payable and/or any amount not covered by the policy. One reader in particular feels that, in her instance, the scheme was underinsured for the cost of her geyser replacement and that the body corporate should pay the sum not covered. She is adamant that she should not be held liable for the shortfall. The first step here is to discern where the responsibility for the geyser maintenance lies, says Rian du Toit from DTS Attorneys in Port Elizabeth. “The Sectional Title Act states that the boundary between any two sections, or between a section and the common property, is the median line

of the dividing floor, wall, or ceiling.” Du Toit says anything falling within a section is the owner’s responsibility while any area outside the median line is regarded as common property and, as such, forms part of the body corporate’s responsibility. “It would seem that, unless the geyser has been installed within the section itself, it should be the body corporate’s responsibility.” However, this is not the case, says Du Toit, as the prescribed management rules make it absolutely clear that it is the owner’s duty to maintain the hot water installation serving his or her section ¬– even if it is located outside the median line and on the common property. “In most instances, the geyser cover will be carried by the body corporate under general building insurance. The owner will, nevertheless, have to pay the excess on any claim.” It is, of course, up to the trustees of the body corporate to negotiate the terms of its short-term insurance, says Charlotte Vermaak from Chas

Everitt in PE. “These terms will include issues such as the amount of excess payable in the event of a claim. Generally speaking, premiums can be reduced if a higher excess is payable.” Vermaak says it is therefore up to the owner of a section to make him or herself familiar with the terms of the insurance taken out by the body corporate. “Unfortunately, the above considerations clearly indicate that any amount not covered by insurance will be for the section owner’s account and will not be the body corporate’s responsibility.” According to Vermaak, it may well be the case that the geyser was not underinsured but that a lower premium was deliberately negotiated at the expense of inflated excess costs. “This could result in a higher amount being payable by the section owners.” ) Send your property-related questions to pr@fullstopcom.com or join Property Poser on Facebook.

THIS evening sees the second of three Business Night Relay events taking place in the city on the last Wednesday of the month. Over 80 teams have already registered for this evening’s fun event which takes place around the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium precinct and is backed by the Mandela Bay Development Agency and Kingfisher FM. The Business Night Relay, which is open to all, includes a running category for teams of 5 runners and a walking category for teams of 3 walkers with each participant required to complete one lap around the North End Lake and stadium precinct, a distance of just 4km. The relay starts at 6pm from the EP Powerboat Club on North End Lake. The atmosphere during the event is enhanced by the presence of News Cafe’s resident jazz band, Mojazz, which performs from 6pm. There will also be vendors and a cash bar throughout the evening. Darling Products provide hydration for all the participants and Sport Action Photographs are on hand to capture the action, with all teams receiving a team photograph. Floating trophies designed by Edge Engravers are up for grabs for the winners in the Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed running categories, plus in the walking team category. There is no vehicle access into the PE Powerboat Club area from Fettes Road, with parking available on the grass section between the stadium and the lake with access from Milner Avenue (sea-side of stadium) only. Masters swim in fundraiser From 8.30am this morning, the Bay Eagles masters swimmers will be taking part in a fundraising swim at the Newton Park Swimming Pool. The club is trying to create awareness to Masters Swimming in Nelson Mandela Bay and invites anyone who may be interested to pop in at the swimming pool. Masters swimming is for any swimmers 24 years and older, with age groups being recognised in 5 year intervals. Masters Swimming offers a great way to keep fit whilst training and competing with likeminded people of similar ages. Port Elizabeth will be hosting the Masters Short Course National Championship on Saturday, September 24, at the St Georges School’s swimming pool. Whilst this is a national event, all regions swim in their home province and

times from around the country are then merged to get the swimmers overall national placing. In a further boost to the region, we also play host to the 29th Masters National Championships at the Newton Park Swimming Pool in March 2013. Nelson Mandela Bay has arguably the largest number of open water swimmers in the country and we urge our swimmers to consider joining a local swimming club and being part of Masters Swimming. BETTIE GILIOMEE IF IT is red, has a turbo engine and has Enjoy Plus in its name, one can only have one expectation, supercharged fun on four wheels while looking good, and that is exactly the essence of the new-look Astra 1.4T Enjoy Plus.

Exterior: During the course of the past year there have been several new designs of cars that really turn heads. The new BMW 5 series, Volvo’s S60 and Volkswagens new Scirocco spring to mind. Without a doubt the subject of this review, the new Opel Astra, has hit the design nail on the head. I have seen several examples driving around and every time I drive past I cannot help but crane my neck for a second look. Sporty yet elegant is the new Astra in a nutshell. Eagle eye-shaped headlamps, a muscular, yet graceful-flowing silhouette with a striking rear all contribute to create this impression. And the solid door sound test: Yes, you open the door and it feels solid closing with a pleasing thud. Safety is always a major consideration in design and here Opel has made an advance with a new intelligent bumper design that is intended to minimize damage in front and rear end collisions, reduce the potential for injury to pedestrians and vehicle occupants and save on the cost of repairs (See accompanying story on page 25.)

I was quite surprised by the spacious interior despite the sporty compact look on the outside. Despite the tapered roofline, head and legroom are ample even for a maximum of three adults behind. The windscreen design, wraparound intrumentpanel and centre console all contribute to a sense of spaciousness while all the dials are still close at hand. The buttons and controls on the centre console are straightforward while the steering wheel also houses controls for the audio system. Aluminium trims add to the elegant feel. Special attention was paid to ambient lighting. The Astra’s interior lights are designed to brighten as the key is turned. I especially liked the ambient lights encircling the gear shifter at night which look funky and sporty yet not cheap. This red diffused light is not only provided around the base of the gear shifter but also in the door panels and in the overhead centre console. Added practicality comes with greatly increased and innovative storage solutions. Responding to a survey from 400 potential customers, Opel has greatly improved onboard storage in the Astra’s cabin (see accompanying story on page 25). Storage spaces include door pockets able to accommodate a 1.5-litre bottle; a place for an MP3 player or iPod in the centre console and a miniglove box on the driver’s side. The Astra also sports a three-way adjustable floor in the boot for extra practicality. Items can be hidden in a false floor, or, when it is fitted at

the lowest position, up to 370 litres of luggage, groceries or sports equipment can be stored. The seating position is comfortable and adjustable in every way. The wide range of steering wheel and seat adjustment permits the driver to find the perfect driving position.

Features: The Astra is filled with comfort features to be true to its name Enjoy Plus. Electric windows, climate control, power steering and central locking tick all the convenience boxes, as well as the audio system with integrated Bluetooth. A full complement of airbags and safety electrics makes sure that the ride is not only enjoyed but safe too.

Ride: Let’s start with the bad news first since the rest is all good news. I am one of those people who are generally lazy to gear down when going around a traffic circle or go up a pavement in first gear. I am also quite happy with cars which are happy to pull away in second. The Astra is not one of those cars. It wants to go to second around a traffic circle and I stalled it halfway up pavements several times as punishment for not doing it in first. Now for the good news. The 1.4 turbo just revs so happily and feels very strong. Put your foot on the accelerator and the turbo engine does what it is supposed to, getting one off on a flying start. We live in a new age of smaller engine sizes with turbos and it is all good. More power, better fuel econo-

On a Sunday afternoon, I took the family for a drive out to Beachview via the area’s notorius pothole-filled bumpy roads, for a real world test – and it passed with flying colours. Its chassis soaked up the bumps with ease, despite the 17” wheels. Putting the Astra through curves and bends is no challenge either as it felt solid and composed with virtually no body roll. The 17” wheels ride comfortably, are a standard item and add to the purposeful look of the car. The steering is very light, the gearbox easy to use and the controls feel solid and work well. Town driving with the Astra is

very zippy. It is just so easy to live with on the highway. The Opel pulls strongly through the gears and cruises very comfortably even some way above the speed limit. Should traffic build up in front of you, just drop down a gear and hit the go pedal. It really is unbelievable what this 1.4 can do. Overtaking is quick and effortless. Also notable was the absence of road noise.

Interesting facts about Astra’s design Do people actually put gloves in their glove box? That was one of many questions a team of Opel interior designers, engineers and quality experts asked more than 400 potential customers as they researched what people stored in their car and where they put all their personal miscellaneous items. The result: The next generation Astra has clever storage solutions unparalleled in the compact class. Some are even being patented. A team of 15 worked nearly three years on the challenge. First, using the results of the survey, they compiled a list of the 20 most common items people store in their cars: pens, coins, a flashlight, a road atlas, sunglasses, a wallet, paper tissues, a mobile phone, CDs, sweets, cups, books, magazines, newspapers, fruit, a first-aid kit, a jacket and drinks bottles. And, of course, gloves! Next, they noted where owners wanted to place the items and looked for practical solutions. This is logical – no driver wants to have an urgently needed map lying in the boot – but it was also a new way of tackling the problem. Traditionally, car companies have simply focused on storage size, and that led to such irritating problems of CDs being stored in the cen-

tre console, but the lid with the arm rest on top couldn’t be closed. The solutions in this latest generation Astra are often deviously simple: Coin slots and pen holder spots are set into the inside edge of the glove box. The glove box itself has two removable compartments, making it more practical. A mini-glove box on the driver side, just below the light switch, has been added. The centre console accommodates up to nine CD cases, plus a small storage bin and an insert for two cup-holders, which is detachable, depending on trim level. Even storage in the rear has those added touches to make riding in the new Astra pleasurable. There is a 12-volt connection for mp3 players in addition to space for drinks bottles. The boot has a tidy indentation on the right side, tailored to fit a traffic triangle and first aid kit. Probably one of the neater tricks the storage team developed is Astra’s patented Flex-Floor, which can be set at different height levels in the trunk, offering further underfloor storage. Be logical – and be fair! FELLOW at the office is the hell in. So angry, he’s breathing fire! So what’s the problem? The reason for his ill-humour is not singer Ard Matthews’ botched version of “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” at the Springbok squad TV announcement last week. After all, he says, in 1981 when Frank Sinatra toured this country, he actually forgot the words of “My Way” at one performance. Okay, Matthews isn’t Frankie, but you take the point. Even the finest can make mistakes. No, it’s these know-alls who are on about the lack of transformation in the Springbok team hoping successfully to defend the Webb Ellis Cup we won last time out in France in 2007, who’ve got his goat. He was in KwaZulu-Natal for a short break last week when the squad was announced. A spokesman for the local Transformation and Anti-Racial rugby committee was quoted in the press there as saying: “Rugby is still largely untransformed and crucially unrepresentative of SA.” The report was headlined “Transformation a whitewash.” The committee’s secretary, Asad Bhorat, said the Bok team for the tournament in New Zealand, starting on September 9, didn’t represent the majority of the country. Bhorat went on: “Any claim that eight players out of a squad of 30 is adequate transformation when that team represents a country which is 90 percent black, is pure delusion.” Mr Bhorat is right. He’s also dead wrong. Using that sort of logic invites the retort: “So, what about Bafana Bafana’s makeup? How many white faces do you see there?” Here’s the point. Follow the leader . . . Talking F1 by Natalie le Clue

The Belgian GP once again delivered a scintillating race in what is fast becoming a classic season. The three-week gap that followed the Hungarian GP appeared to place Red Bull Racing under most pressure to pull something out of the bag. They responded in the most emphatic way possible – a one-two victory to stamp their dominance over the 2011 season, seemingly, once and for all. The race started with several incidents as debris littered the exit of La Source after several crashes. Jenson Button sustained damage to both his front and rear-wing during the fracas but would still manage a brilliant third place finish – not just a man for the wet conditions then. Lewis Hamilton looked well on course to challenge for top spot in the race. That might have been ambitious though considering the McLaren’s mysterious lack of straightline speed. The only explanation could be that they were expecting rain on race day and opted for a higher wing setting. Nevertheless, it was clear to all that his tremendous aptitude for overtaking hasn’t diminished at all. It seemed to be one overtaking attempt too many though as a coming together with Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi at Les Combes sent him crashing out of the race. Race stewards, led by Nigel Mansell, chose to take no action against Kobayashi. Head-on footage showed the Sauber driver maintaining position with Hamilton clunking into the side of him. Kobayashi never appeared to change his line, leaving the inside clear for Hamilton to take up the fourth position. The

Japanese driver had nowhere to go but the grass, had he altered his line. You’d have to chalk this one up as a racing incident. In defence of Hamilton, his on-board footage suggests that the Brit might have thought himself further clear of the Sauber than he actually was. Props to the former champ for taking the blame and apologising on his twitter feed after the race. The early stages of the race saw a tremendous pace from both Ferraris with Fernando Alonso looking in prime position to take his second victory of the season. The switch to the medium compound tyres would be his undoing. Ferrari’s inability to get enough heat into the harder compound tyres is what ultimately left Alonso defenceless; first against Webber and then a rampant Jenson Button. For all the improvements the team has made this season the issue of heating up the harder compound tyres still seems to lurk around. It isn’t something new to this team who has been struggling with this issue since the 2008 season. Michael Schumacher’s 20th anniversary in F1 may not have ended with victory, or even a podium. However, a stellar fifth place, from 24th on the grid, continued his love affair with SpaFrancorchamps. It’s unlikely that the critics of his comeback will relent. Perhaps they have some merit – but not after such a brilliant performance so very reminiscent of the great champion. A more than worthy driver of the day. Sebastian Vettel may already be a world champion, but the position he holds in 2011 is completely unknown to him. Let’s not forget that the only time he led the world championship last year was after the final race in Abu Dhabi. Suggestions that Vettel is feeling the pressure were well and truly put to rest by a flawless drive. Again he highlighted his brilliant ability of stint management. He coped effortlessly with suspect front tyres, negotiated a safety car period and pulled off a number of impressive overtakes. All the while he never seemed under any great stress. That’s the mark of a great driver. He might very well have been under some pressure but it never showed. Seven race victories and a significant lead in the driver’s championship race makes Vettel all but unbeatable. Right about now it should say that anything can still happen with

seven races remaining or something like that. Can you honestly say you would put your money on anyone other than Sebastian Vettel and feel comfortable about it?
