The potholes seems to be caused by an underground water leakage, which is visible at points where water is bubbling through the tarred surface. The local ward councillor, DA Councillor Marshall von Buchenroder, says he has been inundated with complaints from residents about this issue. Von Buchenroder stated that he has been in constant communication with the authorities, but to no avail. “After numerous e-mails and telephonic conversations between myself and the relevant directorates, I requested that the road be closed. “It is evidently clear that the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality does not have the capacity to render service delivery where it is needed the most. This road is also a main thoroughfare in the morning and afternoon peak hours for residents from the Western Suburbs,” said Von Buchenroder. He also pointed out that because the Gelvandale police station and the mortuary are situated in Gail Road, the road is also used by emergency vehicles. “A high volume of traffic uses this road and therefore it is my duty as ward councillor to see that this road is fixed as speedily as possible; however, water division is not serious about saving water or repairing water-leaks. The question that comes to mind is why we should save water as residents, but the institution is not eager to respond to repairs and save water on their behalf,” asked Von Buchenroder. The Gelvandale Magistrates Court is nearing completion, and is situated just off Gail Road in Helenvale. Architect Clive van der Riet, who has worked on the design and construction of this building, has major concerns about what impact the state of the road will have on people travel-
ling to the court. “It seems the municipality’s ability to fix potholes promptly and properly has deteriorated badly and in the case of Gail Road is non-existent. I use Gail Road weekly and since our heavy rains the potholes here have appeared and rapidly extended so that cars have to drive on the kerb on one side to get past,” he said. “When one looks at Helenvale and sees the lack of municipal attention to collecting piles of rubbish such as in Reginald Road near the court building being upgraded and in very many other places, it’s a wonder that the residents are so friendly. I’ve only been threatened once! “I’m not surprised that it’s a depressed gangland where it is not uncommon to hear gunshots in the middle of the day and to see all the people streaming to the place of the shooting
as if it’s an entertainment.” Van der Riet further said that he hoped the impressive Magistrates Court building would be a signal for change in the area. But the municipality and ward councillors will have to pull their weight and stop making excuses and putting the blame on lack of funds or technical reasons. Instead they could be, and perhaps already are, solving the technical problems and funding with initiative and getting the community behind them and possibly motivating the large number of unemployed people to contribute to getting stuck in to clean and fix up their neighbourhood in every conceivable way. “I believe the state of the environment can make a huge difference to the morale of a community and this gross lack of attention to suburban road and sidewalk repair and street
rubbish piles will definitely have a depressing impact on the community and throws a very bad light on the municipality and the local councillors, who should never have allowed this to get so bad and for so long.” Media Liaison Officer of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Ongama Mtinka, said that they had done work in the area in the last three months but it kept recurring. “There seems to be underground water that causes the potholes. We have determined that we need to address that first in order to deliver a lasting solution,” Mtinka said. “On Friday last week we had an inspection in the area. We are going to patch temporarily while the water is being tested to determine whether this is municipal or natural ground water. Work will resume after the rains,” said Mtinka.

Balizza brings Christmas in July to SaveaPet TANYA VAN ZYL CHRISTMAS came early this year for the furry friends at the Save-a-Pet Animal Shelter in Port Elizabeth. And playing the role of Father Christmas are the team at the popular nightclub in Walmer, Balizza, who held their annual Christmas in July party last Friday in aid of Save-a-Pet. After numerous patrons asked them to help out the four-legged friends who cannot speak up about their woes and suffering, the owners of Balizza deciced to lend a helping paw . . . er, hand. So off they went and bought a bakkie-load, or 800 cans, of dog and cat food to donate to this animal shelter. But the challenge was soon mad to their patrons to bring along their own dog and cat food to double the amount of cans for those hungry mouths to feed. The cover charge from the Christmas in July party, an amount of R5 000, was also donated to Save-a-Pet, together with 850 cans of food and a few blankets. Joining in the goodwill were employees of the South African Breweries (SAB) in PE, who – under the guidance of Johnny Smal, Field Sales Represent-
ative (On Premise) – donated food and blankets for the cause. “Those animals are in desperate need of our help and every little bit will make a difference,” Smal pleaded with colleagues in an

Thieves disable cars’ remote lock
A MEMBER of the public had his car broken into while he was at a local shopping centre on Sunday, June 17. According to the weekly Atlas Newsletter the man returned to his vehicle at 2.49pm only to find his personal belongings stolen from his car. Apparently he had locked his car by means of the remote control central locking. But, as the police had warned before, the thieves who were apparently watching him, prevented his car from locking by using a remote controlled transmitter. This transmitter prevents the car from being locked. The owner’s ID-book with his details of where he resides and the remote of the security gate in front of his house had been amongst the items taken. Earlier the police sent out a warning to residents about the new modus operandi among thieves to open and steal from vehicles which have been locked with remote central locking. The SAPS has warned residents that theft from motor vehicles is a big concern in especially the Mount Road, Humewood, Walmer, Algoa Park and Kabega Park areas. . Thieves use a radio-controlled device (similar to a gate or garage remote) and will keep the button pressed in while, at the same time, you try to activate your vehicle alarm locking remote.

Dit behels ’n vredes-sending en humanitêre hulp in die metro, asook op Grahamstad, waar die Amerikaanse magte en die SuidAfrikaanse Nasionale Weermag (SANW) oefen. Al die afdelings van die SANW – die leër, vloot, lugmag en gesondheidsdienste – neem aan die drie weke lange oefening deel, het lt. Sam Khasuli, SANWwoordvoerder, gesê. ’n Tentedorp is opgerig vir die gesondheidsdienste wat Saterdag begin het en nog tot 31 Julie aangebied sal word. “Basiese tandheelkundige sorg, tandhigiëne en -verwydering, basiese primêre gesondheidsorg vir volwassenes en kinders, asook oogondersoeke en brille, word verskaf,” het Khasuli gesê. Saterdag is meer as 300 mense

Gospel concert for Empilweni patients PATIENTS at the Empilweni TB Hospital in New Brighton, should no longer feel left out and cut off from society. Pastor Stephen Grootboom of the Jacksonville Spiritual Outreach Group, in conjunction with the Simunye Driving School Association is planning an “African Gospel Night” in aid of the hospital.
The Empilweni hospital accommodates adults as well as children from birth to 15 years. The Jacksonville Spiritual Outreach Group had a similar successful fundraising event for the hospital in December last year, which enabled them to spoil the kids at the hospital with toys and treats. ‘ PE Express Indaba’ now weekly GOOD news for the residents of the townships in the Metro is the expansion of the Port Elizabeth Express Indaba newspaper from a monthly publication to a weekly newspaper. The Port Elizabeth Express Indaba was first launched in July 2008 as a monthly newspaper. It was a brand extension to Port Elizabeth Express serving a market where there had been no other freesheet at the time. “The Port Elizabeth Express Inda-
ba has proved so popular amongst readers and advertisers alike that we have decided to relaunch it as a weekly paper,” said editor, Bettie Giliomee. Port Elizabeth Express Indaba will now be published on a Wednesday. The distribution has also been increased and a total of 55 000 copies will be printed. The newspaper will be distributed to homes in KwaNobuhle, Khayalistha, Motherwell, Bethelsdorp, Kwadwesi, KwaZakhele, New Bright-

Springboks at De Wet Barry breakfast before TriNations clash CLARISSA VENTER RUGBY enthusiasts will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet their favourite Spingbok rugby players at a breakfast three days before the Tri-Nations South Africa vs New Zealand clash in the city. The Turn a Page De Wet Barry Foundation is hosting a pre-match breakfast build-up on Wednesday, August 17 in order to raise funds for the MTR Smit Children’s Haven. Barry (33), a former Springbok centre who is currently an Eastern Province Kings player, said no fewer than 13 Springboks will attend the breakfast with the well-known former Bok, Bobby Skinstad, as
guest speaker and Xola Ntshinga, a Super Sport presenter as MC. “At this stage I cannot yet confirm which Springboks will be at the breakfast, but they will definitely be there seeing that they are in the city practising for the match. And they gave me their word.” Barry said those attending the breakfast will have the opportunity to obtain inside information about the current Springbok team seeing that a panel of experts – consisting of the Springbok Team Management – will also be at the event. Barry said the idea of establishing a charity has always been at the back of his mind. “I think through rugby you can achieve a lot in terms of uplifting communities.” He said this sport can create great opportunities for the less-fortunate
and he would like to be part of changing lives wherever possible. “The foundation was established last year, therefore it is fairly new. Together with Arthur Dayimani, an events manager in the Bay, and the Eastern Province Kings Team Manager, Sydney Goba the foundation saw the light.” He added it is quite stressful to link your name to such a initiative because it might not be successful, but he said he has to give it a try. “It was very difficult choosing a beneficiary. We eventually settled on M.T.R Smit Children’s Haven. I feel the children there receive a great foundation with the education they are given and that they can only go from strength to strength. Especially if we can, with this breakfast, raise the needed funds to help them with
furthering their education even more.” The costs is R2 000 per table of 10 or R300 per person. There will also be an opportunity for a current Springbok rugby player or management member to host your table at a total cost of R3 000 for a table of nine people (plus the host) The breakfast starts at 7.30am for 8am. The venue is at Slipperfields. South-African and New Zealand memorabilia will be on auction. THE Rainbow Nation Club in the Bay who is urging businesses to get involved in encouraging racial cohesion amongst South Africans is rapidly growing in member numbers. “The Rainbow Nation Club initiative started about a year ago due to a large number of people who want the racial conflict to end, and for South Africans to experience the national pride and goodwill we all experienced during the Soccer World Cup last year,” the Schaeffler South-Africa Managing Director, Len Terblanche, earlier said. “From our experience since starting the Rainbow Nation Club we have met with many influential people from different political affiliations, and it is clear that Ubuntu is still very much embraced by many South Africans.” He added that the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Noxolo Kiviet, has shown her commitment towards nation building by signing up as a member of the Rainbow Nation Club. Furthermore, he added, the club is expanding and its membership is growing. “We have two schools, Kwazakhele High and Booysens Park High, where most of the learners have adopted our vision and values by signing up as members. At Kwazakhele High, very good progress is made on the educational side as well as a tutorial programme that has been introduced on science and is planned for maths. Students from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University receive training and then in turn conduct tutorial sessions with smaller groups of learners. “Too many schools in the poor areas are vandalised by unruly elements of the community. Our vision for Kwazakhele High is to get the surrounding community to take ownership of the school, and take care of it. We are planning to establish many job empowerment opportunities on the school premises so as to draw in the surrounding, predominantly unemployed community, into providing services to the school that have been previously nonexistent.” Terblanche said this will include security, a health care clinic, cleaning, feeding schemes, maintenance and sport field upkeep and vegetable gardens. There are 200 volunteers from the community that want to be involved in taking care of the school. Moreover, he added they are planning to buy a brick-making machine to start the building of houses on the premises for families that will take care of various services. The planned soccer, rugby, cricket and netball facilities will be available for use by the community too. New organisations with management membership include Metro Security, Chemetal, Ebenezer Church, Alexander Forbes and the Ubuntu Education Fund. Cricket star cycles for charity
Chevrolet Warriors and Protea all rounder, Johan Botha, once again takes on the 24 cycling challenge this year to raise funds for charity. This is the fourth consecutive year that Botha cycles for charity for 24 hours around the circumference of St Georges Park, home of the Axxess DSL cricket ground. Despite an extremely busy cricketing schedule that took Botha abroad most of the year, he remained committed to his mission of raising funds for the less privileged. Sponsored by Chevrolet and General Motors South Africa (GMSA), Botha started this initiative four years ago to raise funds for people with special needs. Together with a few dedicated cyclists, Botha last year amassed a distance of 574, 5 kilometers, completing 266 laps around St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth which is a distance of 2, 16 kilometres. Asked how he managed to balance the cycling preparation and playing professional cricket, Botha said that if one is dedicated to the purpose there will be time. “I am grateful to my wife, together with the team from the sponsors of the event, General Motors, who so tirelessly organise the event, all I do is cycle,” said a modest Botha. Botha aims to raise in excess of R200 000 this year which will be donated to the charities selected this year, Just Inspired, Khanya Youth Development in New Brighton and Masimanye Day Care Centre in Despatch. Just Inspired is a school campaign which is aimed at doing a mini makeover at 20 local schools in the various townships in the metro. Work has already been done at a number of the schools inspired by Canadian singer/songwriter Justin Hine's song “Say what you will” which was used to initiate the first school makeover inApril 2010 Khanya Youth Development is run by Ms Nokuthula Mtimka and is situated in New Brighton. There are 120 school-going children who are either aids orphans or neglected by parents. Nokuthula feeds them on a daily basis and has educators who give extra classes after school. Masimanye Day Care Centre in Despatch is run by Erica Ntombela. Dress in white, blue to help Angel Network TANYA VAN ZYL “ANGELS” dressed in white and blue will descend upon the Radisson Blu hotel this Friday to have a ball of a time – all in aid of creating awareness and raising funds for the Angel Network. About 180 people from Port Elizabeth will be putting on their best white outfit for a Charity Ball to be is held at this hotel. And behind the organising of this prestigious ball is Orisha Ferndale, a final-year Media student at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She single-handedly organised this event together with the Radisson Blu to raise funds – and awareness – for the Angel Network – a nonprofit organisation in Salsoneville in the Northern Areas. This organisation, that feeds hungry children and runs a soup kitchen from
the Bethelsdorp Old Age Home, has been in existence for more than ten years. They also assist families and individuals with food, clothing and health care. According to Ferndale, who majors in Public Relations in her final year, they were assigned to raise awareness for a charity, as part of their final year project. “We got handed a list of the different charity organisations in Port Elizabeth and we had to choose one – so I chose the Angel Network – without knowing what exactly they did,” Ferndale explained. The fundraiser is open to the general public, but only a handful of tickets are left for the event, which is an all-white themed ball, with a touch of blue. This year the team decided to incorporate this drive with Madiba’s birthday and donated food, clothing and blankets to the Coega Door of Hope Children’s Home. Strong organising, management and leadership skills are required for this position. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic environment within the core management team, who are co-responsible for the circulation growth and marketing of Die Burger in the Eastern Cape and will report to the Circulation Manager of Die Burger: Western Cape. The suitable candidate will have at least five (5) years' management or industry experience, as well as a Senior Certificate or equal qualification. A relevant management qualification would be a recommendation. The ideal applicant is someone who demonstrates business acumen and is alert, proactive and creative. The industry is results and turnover oriented and the appointee must be able to bear the tension and pressure of a newspaper circulation environment. The appointee will take responsibility for enhancing Die Burger's circulation growth by attaining specific sales targets of Die Burger's Circulation Department. Die nasionale groep, wat altesaam uit sewe fietsryers bestaan, is ná ’n oefenkamp van twee weke in Durban amptelik deur Fietsry Suid-Afrika aangekondig. Mecer-NMMU, een van die voorste plaaslike fietsryklubs, verbonde aan die
Nelson Mandela Metropolitaanse Universiteit (NMMU), het twee verteenwoordigers in die span, naamlik Marinus Prinsloo (18) van die Hoërskool DF Malherbe en Kellan Gouveris (17) van die Hoërskool Pearson. Shane Pheiffer (17) van die Hoërskool Grey en Cuen Holland (17), ook van die Hoërskool DF Malherbe wat onderskeidelik van die klubs Walmer en 2nd Breath is, is die ander twee wat in die span ingesluit is. NMMU hosts EP Cross country champs in PE THE ABSA NMMU Athletics Club will host the EP Cross Country Championships for clubs and schools on August 13 at the Xerox NMMU Athletics Stadium in collaboration with EPA. Entry forms and information for schools and for clubs are now available from certain sport shops, the EP Athletics (EPA) office and the ABSA NMMU Athletics office. The closing date for this event for schools is August 5 and

all entries should be sent or handed in only at the EPA Office. All entries for scholars from under 10 years to under 19 years old are free. Please take note that no late entries will be accepted for this event. The closing date for clubs is August 10 and an entry fee of R10 for registered athletes is requested. Spar NMMU netballers crack national nod IN an unprecedented move, half of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s netball team have been named in the South African student squad. The six Spar-NMMU players were selected on the basis of their individual performances at the University Sport South Africa (USSA) tournament, which took place at North-West University’s Potchefstroom campus earlier this month. The team placed fourth overall. “It’s obviously a very big honour and a first for the university,” said NMMU sports manager, Theresa le Roux. According to her, they caught the eye of the selectors with strong performances throughout the week. Captain and wing defence, Janine Daniell; goal keeper, Nontle Gwavu; centre, Mampho Tsotetsi and goal shooter, Dumisane Chauke, all former members of the national squad, once again cracked the nod. They are joined by new inclusions Zanele Vimbela and Elzaan Lotter in goal defence and goal attack respectively. “We’re very pleased to see rising stars like Zanele and Elzaan being recognised for their talent and dedication,” said Le Roux. Members of the 30-strong national squad will vie for a place in the 12-person team to compete at the World University Netball Championships, which take place in Cape Town in July next year. “It will give the girls great international ex-
posure and the opportunity to see some of the world’s best student netball players in action, many of whom represented their countries at the elite World Cup in Singapore recently,” said Le Roux. “Unfortunately, Nontle and Mampho will not be eligible as they turn 27 before the world champs.” However, said Le Roux, they would still be in contention for a spot at the Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Botswana next April. She attributed the club’s success to hard work under the guidance of former national player and head coach Lana Krige. “Lana and Maryka (Allaway) put in many long hours coaching the girls. They were certainly the fittest team we’ve ever taken to the tournament.” Five of the six players are also members of the Eastern Province team, the Ibhayi Gales, which competes in the national Netball Grand Series, while Gwavu represents her home province of Gauteng. They will all play a critical role when the Spar-NMMU team mounts its title defence in the EP A League at the Young Park courts in Port Elizabeth starting later this month. The team will be aiming to continue its dominance with a seventh consecutive series win.

The Nurburgring was a track whose characteristics should have suited the Red Bull car. Saturday qualifying seemed to follow that theory as Mark Webber secured his second pole position in as many races. However, it was Lewis Hamilton that was packing the real surprise come Sunday.
Hamilton peerless The Monaco and Canadian GP’s produced a lot of criticism of Lewis Hamilton’s driving style. Speculation about where his focus was and rumours of leaving the McLaren team were rife. However, just as criticism is sometimes needed, so praise is deserved. In Germany the credit has come due. Lewis Hamilton could not have gotten his 2011 campaign back on track in a more emphatic fashion. We have come to know Lewis Hamilton as a driver who pushes to the edge – and just that little bit further. For many races we’ve marvelled at his car control as he balances the rear end with magnificent finesse. In Germany it was almost the complete opposite. His qualifying lap was supremely smooth . . . and supremely fast. He arrived in Germany with a car that was not supposed to trouble the top four positions during the race. His belief and enormous talent, however, delivered the surprise of the season. It was one of the most masterful displays of strategic racing ever delivered by the 2008 champion. He managed every stint to perfection. His previous tendency to drive over the limit, destroying the tyres, was replaced by a master tactician measuring every inch of his effort through every corner of the lap.
One of the most peculiar aspects of the race was the performance of the medium tyre. Throughout three practice sessions it was easily the slower tyre by 1.5 seconds. The increase of grip throughout the weekend almost nullified the time difference between the two compounds. It may have come down to simple track evolution, but track temperature most likely had the bigger impact. Pirelli tyres are not made to operate in low temperatures. Given that the ’Ring only produced a track temperature of 15 degrees Celsius it undercut the performance advantage of the soft (option) tyres.

Two races in succession have seen the team from Milton Keyes well and truly beaten. Mark Webber’s loss of P1 at the start of the race didn’t come as a massive surprise. The Australian has now lost position in the last ten races he has started. Nevertheless, he continued to fight amongst the top three for the duration of the race, and led for parts of it. Championship leader, Sebastian Vettel, didn’t feature in the fight for victory at all. Amazingly, he seemed to struggle for the duration of the grand prix. There was even an uncharacteristic mistake in the early part of the race: a wheel onto a slippery white line which resulted in a spin. Nonetheless, he still managed to salvage fourth place and that in the pitlane! “I probably would have had a chance to try something into the first corner, but in the end I was a bit too far behind - and I had to be very careful with my brakes. They were an issue for the whole race so I didn’t want to test my luck and ruin them on the final lap. In the end I was able to take P4 thanks to my crew which did everything right. And remember last year it was a fourth place that decided the championship,” said the reigning champion. From one ring to the other – Red Bull should bounce back at the Hungaroring this weekend. Then again, they were expected to take victory at the Nurburgring, weren’t they?

team status of the group John Smit is presently leading in the Antipodes – and rightly so. Last Saturday the Boks were exactly the reverse of their opponents, producing hardly a spark of imagination or purpose, and sadly lacking in application, into the bargain. Indeed, the “B” for much of the 80 minutes might well have stood for “babes” – the green trim of their white shorts strongly suggesting the shape of good old-fashioned nappies. It took just eight minutes for Quade Cooper, with split-second timing, to carve a huge gap in the South Africans’ defence and set up the first of the Wallabies’ five tries. When halfback partner Will Genia got in on the act just two minutes later, the Springboks’ fate was already sealed. Where was the South African defence? There simply was none. It doesn’t help matters that the Boks lost four locks (two in Andries Bekker and Johann Muller in training) and two more in Alistair Hargreaves and Flip van der Merwe in the match itself – which has caused coach Peter de Villiers to wail, “When it rains, it pours. Are there any locks left in South Africa?” Well, the coach might also reflect on his own folly for including in the first place two men in his squad of 30 – Bekker and Muller – whose fitness was so uncertain that he waited until the very last moment to pronounce them fit enough for the tour! Unhappily, unless the age of miracles truly has not passed, things aren’t likely to get any better in Wellington, where Smit’s team play the All Blacks in their second leg of the TriNations tourney on Saturday. Morne Steyn continues to be Dead-Eye Dick where goal-kicking is concerned. But that is about all. Indeed, the fact that he was asked to tour (while most other first choice players are being rested) despite having played more Super Rugby minutes than any other South African, strongly suggests that Butch James is the player the coaching staff are banking on as the No. 1 flyhalf choice for the World Cup. Of the few who produced anything like real class in Sydney, Flip van der Merwe before injury, Danie Rossouw (starting at flank and winding up at lock as he so often does with Blue Bulls teammate Bakkies Botha) and Ashley Johnson, fared best. John Smit still looks sadly off the pace of a test-class hooker. While, small misjudgements aside – to which no players are immune – Ruan Pienaar, Gio Aplon, Lwazi Mvovo and Patrick Lambie were the pick of the backs. The selectors could do worse than start with the Sharks’ youngster this weekend.

Business night relay tonight THIS evening sees the first of three Business Night Relay events which will be taking place in the city on the last Wednesday of the next three months as all attention returns to the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium precinct. Backed by the Mandela Bay Development Agency and Kingfisher FM, the relay starts at 6pm from the EP Powerboat Club on North End Lake. The Business Night Relay, which is open to all and includes a running category for teams of five runners and a walking category for teams of three walkers, has been very well received by local businesses, and organisers are expecting a vibrant atmosphere at the lake as over 75 teams are expected to attend this evening. Entrants are required to collect their race kit and Sport Splits South Africa timing chips from 4pm at the Power Boat Club. Parking will be available on the grass section between the stadium and the lake with access from Milner Avenue (seaside of stadium) only. The Fettes Road entrance to the Power Boat Club will be closed to all traffic from 3pm today. With online entries for this month already closed, late entries will be taken between 4pm and 5.30pm. News Cafe’s resident jazz band, Mojazz, will be performing at the event from 6pm with vendors and a cash bar available. Darling Products will be providing hydration for all the participants as they finish, and floating trophies and medals will be presented to the win-

World champs 10km swim results SPAR Redhouse River Mile triple champion Chad Ho represented South Africa at last week’s 10km FINA World Championships 10km Open Water Swim and finished in 20th place. Whilst the result doesn’t sound too impressive for South Africa’s first ever 10km World Cup winner, a quick glance at the results show just how impressive this swim was. A mere 34 seconds separated the winner Spyros Gianniotis of Greece and 20th placed Ho over the 10km distance. Fellow South African, Troy Prinsloo, who tied with Ho in the SA 10km Champs earlier in the year at Marina Martinique, finished in 38th place whilst recent Bell Buoy Challenge Champion Rok Kerin from Slovenia finished in 42nd place.

Oval racing this coming Saturday MORE than 70 cars are expected to participate in the next race meeting at the PE Oval Track Raceway on Saturday, July 30. Classes that will be racing include Mini’s, Beginners, 2.1’s, Hotrods, Midgets, Super 6, Std V8’s and V8 American Saloons. A highlight of the event will be a lady race driver, Cathy Whittle, who will be competing against the experienced male drivers in the very fast American Saloons V8 class. Cathy, who usually races in the Std V8 class, will test her skills in the premium V8 class.
