HELENVALE: OUDINWONER WIL KINDERS WEER LEER SPEEL
Speelgoedbiblioteek gee hoop

T

NMB invests R100 million in former Ibhayi area
BE HAPPY, YES U CAN HE IS BACK AFTER 5 YEARS OF SEPARATION
My husband left me and went to London with another woman for 5 years! I tried to bring him back, I visited priests and healers for help but failed. Ligan and Miss Jessica looked through the mirror and assured me that he’ll call within 4 days, and I’ll pick him at the airport. He really phoned and he’s return after 5 years! He accurately read my fortune (for R200 conMaria and Jacob sultation fee) & told me all my problems without (happily in love again) me mentioning a word. He even used a mirror to show me real-faces of people who were trying to pull me down. Ligan and Miss Jessica performed special-prayers for me, cleansed me from badluck & also gave me powerful lovecrystals plus a special-ring to fix my financial problems. Four (4) days after prayers my husband was back home, asking for forgiveness. I am very happy, we recently reconciled! Like me, all clients I have been referring to him always got GUARANTEED RESULTS in a few days. CHALLENGES around access for emergency services, SAPS vehicles and wheelchair-bound people in the former Ibhayi area (New Brighton, KwaZakhele, Zwide, Veeplaas and Soweto-onSea) will soon be a thing of the past, after the R100 million investment by the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality in the tarring of roads, paving of sidewalks and improvements to the stormwater drainage system in these areas. Nomfundo Ngcingane (56), who lives in Tsewu Street in New Brighton, could not hide her excitement about the improvements being effected in her street, which is one of the streets under reconstruction. “This reconstruction of our street will change the picture of this area. It will not only improve access, but it will also add to the value of our properties. “Raining or not, we will be able to walk freely in a paved street. We used to experience a lot of flooding when heavy rains came. We have been told that stormwater drainage will also form part of the work that will be done. Thank you to the Municipality,” said Ngcingane. Another resident of New Brighton, Lindile Kinzela, who also benefited from the project through employment, confirmed that the project was a boost for him and his family. “Our street will not only be reconstructed but for the duration of the project I will be able to provide for my family,” said Lindile Kinzela. Kinzela added that the improved roads would aid many aspects of service delivery. “When we have good roads,we talk about easy access for physically challenged and wheelchair-bound residents; we talk about easy and quick access for emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks to our area; and we also talk about easy and quick access for police when they attend to criminal incidents that might endanger people’s lives,” said Kinzela. The project is currently in progress in different areas and in different phases, not only bene-
fiting the residents of these areas, but also empowering emerging businesses (SMMEs), who are an integral part of the delivery of this project. An SMME owner, Lumnka Speelman (41), who co-owns Speelman Mtika Construction Company, is one of those who have benefited as a sub-contractor from one of the road construction projects in Kwazakhele Seyisi, in an area called Maqanda. “It was the first project I have ever received from the municipality. This opportunity has given me a lot of experience, more especially as a female construction company owner. We used to be ignored in the construction industry, but things have now improved. This project will not only benefit my company financially, but the experience I will obtain will position my company better to bid for more projects, bigger than this one,” said Speelman. More than 50 kilometers of road construction will be done in the area. The work that will be done, will include informal settlement areas like Qaqawuli and MK Silvertown. Work to be done in informal areas like these, will be in preparation for the formal housing construction that will be undertaken later this year. – REPORTER

Bushes pose safety threat in Fairview NCEBA DLADLA
According to Ndimba, as a result of this they are faced with break-ins almost every day. He fears that their lives, including those of their wives and children, are not safe, he said. According to Ndimba, PELRHA used to cut the grass and the bushes for them but refused to do so lately claiming that it was the responsibility of the municipality to cut the bushes. “Nobody is taking responsibility while we lose valuable property here in the meantime. Thieves find it easy to break-in and steal while using the very dense bushes as a hide out,” added another resident Lesley Ndlaleni. Ndlaleni showed PE Express a house that was broken into the previous weekend whilst the owner and neighbours were all at work.

Ward councillor Retief Odendaal said the residents’ complaint was justified. He said their safety is very important and that it was his office that organised for PELRHA to cut the bushes. But he also understood when PELRHA two years later, argued that it was not their responsibility. “We are looking at possibilities of addressing their plight, by cleaning the area, by expediting installing of street lights, talking to SAPS for more visible policing, as well as encouraging residents to play a more active role in community safety, among other things,” he said. Nelson Mandela Bay municipal spokesperson Mthubanzi Mniki said he understood the plight of the concerned residents. He said, “They must bring the problem to the attention of the municipality. Yes, it is the responsibility of the owners of the plots to cut the bushes, but we can trace the owners for them to do what is right.” Mniki added, however, that the metro municipality could help the residents by cutting the bushes and later claim the costs from the property owners. “We could search for them (property ownMzwandile Ndimba (left) and Lesley Ndlaleni watch as Msimelelo Hlathi and Vusumzi Ndlaleni use ers), add the costs to their accounts and hacksaws to cut the trees and bushes that are posing a danger to Fairview residents. threaten to take legal action against them PHOTO:NCEBA DLADLA if they refused to pay,” he said.

Eid alFitr to be celebrated REPORTER THOUSANDS of Muslims across Port Elizabeth will soon be celebrating Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the fasting for the month of Ramadan. At time of going to print on Monday, is was not yet certain whether Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6 or Thursday, July 7. Eid is celebrated with the first sighting of the new crescent moon. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and fasting in this month forms one of the five tenets of Islam that every Muslim must observe. The month commences when the new moon is sighted after sunset, and ends when the next crescent is sighted, 29 or 30 days later. Islamic scholar, Mufti Siraj Desai, said, “A day’s fast begins from dawn (about one hour and thirty minutes before sunrise) and ends at sunset. During this time Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink, or indulge in any sexual activity with our spouses. “Upon sunset the fast is usually broken with dates and water, followed by the normal supper. “At night all the above are allowed, and just before dawn Muslims will have an early breakfast before commencing the fast once again,” Desai said. Desai added that there are several reasons why Muslims have to fast which includes instilling discipline and self-control within themselves. “Fasting is not only abstaining from food and drink; instead we are taught to adopt total discipline in behaviour, speech, actions, and atti-
tudes. Ramadan is a month wherein we train to curb bad habits, control anger, forgive others, bear with patience difficulty and hardship. “By remaining hungry we can identify with the poor and destitute. This is then followed by the command to share our wealth and food with the poor in this month. Hence, we find Muslims doing more charitable work in this month than in any other. “Fasting is a great inspiration to the spirituality of man.It gives the human being the ability to raise his spiritual performance to a higher level and communicate more closely with his Lord,” Desai said. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate the Eid festival, which is the first of two festive days in their calendar year. On the 29th day of Ramadan, just as the sun sets, Muslims throughout the world will attempt to sight the crescent moon. “The sighting of this crescent will bring to an end the month of Ramadan and will herald the Eid Festival. “The following day Muslims will prepare themselves for the Eid prayers by bathing, wearing their best Islamic attire, and setting off early for the prayer service,” Desai said. The Eid prayer service takes place about one hour after sunrise and is usually held in an open area to accommodate the large number of attendees. After this prayer service Muslims disperse to visit family and friends, sharing greetings, gifts, and specially prepared foods. . Motorists travelling on Bramlin Road between Westering and Malabar are to exercise caution during Eid prayer times from 8am to 10am on July 6, as there will be an increase in traffic.

Quest autism school turns 21 REPORTER THIS year Quest School – the first Eastern Cape school founded for children with autism – celebrates 21 years of existence, having grown from a tiny school with only six pupils to a large school with a hostel and computer lab accommodating nearly 100 pupils today. Quest was originally housed in an old church building when it first opened its doors in 1995, but today occupies much bigger premises in South End, Port Elizabeth. The school’s journey began thanks to the support of the Jeeva Foundation. The Foundation bought the school’s first building in Uitenhage. When the school outgrew the building, the Foundation bought the house next door, and converted it into a hostel for some of the learners. Quest School is now the only government subsidised school in the Eastern Cape catering for children with autism between the ages of 5 and 18. School principal Lottie de Vries said, “The school’s doors are open today because of the many volunteers and communities who have over the years endlessly supported our school.” In 2001 the school relocated to South End in Port Elizabeth, to an old school building owned by the Department of Education. Today the school caters for 89 children, and has 13 teachers and teaching assistants, 12 housemo-
thers, a principal and administrative staff. The therapy department employs an occupational and speech therapist. Principal De Vries says the school continues to receive support from the Jeeva Foundation. “They have been with us from the very beginning. When we relocated to the new school, they continued to help by providing groceries for the hostel. “They repaired our mini bus which is used to transport children and also provided beds for the hostel,” said De Vries. Munir Jeeva, a trust member of the foundation, visited the school this month and said staff were doing “incredible work with the children.” “These children must be seen and heard, and have the right to an education. “The school offers an individual education plan for each learner, and also prides itself in teaching in three official languages - Xhosa, English and Afrikaans - which is remarkable,” said Jeeva. He encouraged other businesses to support the school. “The school has a computer lab which was donated by MTN Foundation, through the visit of the Deputy Minister of Social Development, Henrietta Bogupani Zulu. This is the type of support businesses can offer,” said Jeeva. The programmes offered to the learners at the school help them with job-readiness skills including a recycling project, in-service training and job placement at dif-
ferent companies, an echo-brick project where plastic bottles are filled with plastic bags and then used by organisations to build houses, as well as admin support for Ironman and office skills. The school follows the same terms as mainstream schools. They follow the CAPS curriculum, but often have to adjust in places. Through the computer lab the learners are taught how to send emails, open and work in Word documents and compile Power Point presentations. While the hostel has the capacity to accommodate 40 learners, it currently hosts 19 boarders. Autism is diagnosed four times more often in boys than in girls. Children diagnosed with an Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) suffer with a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioural challenges. Jeeva added that although the school currently received a subsidy from the Department of Education, it was still heavily reliant on charitable donations from the community and volunteers. “Quest report their progress and their needs to the Jeeva Foundation every year, and we then include their needs in our yearly budget,” he said. PE EXPRESS | WEDNESDAY 29 JUNE 2016
‘Stop complaining and never give up’ REPORTER MEET Andrew Botha, a meek young man filled with ambition and a willingness to learn. From a young age he knew that he was not like his peers in terms of physical abilities. In September 2005, he was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder and in 2009, while in secondary school, underwent an operation to correct his scoliosis, resulting in him missing the first term of his grade 11 year. Despite his physical challenges, he never became dispirited and never lost hope. Growing up in Schauderville, which is rather infamous for gangsterism, Botha and his sisters were diligent at school, determined to rise above circumstance and make a success of their lives. After completing school, Botha immediately began seeking work but his disability and lack of qualifications were hindering him. The turning point came when he was offered the chance to undergo a Business Administration learnership through The Boardwalk which was introduced to provide skills development opportunities for young people with disabili-

ties. Botha’s enthusiasm and commitment were immediately noticed, and he was offered a temporary position as a training coordinator at The Boardwalk while he completed his learnership. After a year of diligence, The Boardwalk offered him a permanent position as switchboard operator. He loves his job working at the busy Boardwalk, and says he is keen to keep climbing the ladder there. “The Business Administration learnership changed my life and has indeed served as a foundation for me to further my studies as well as my working career. Had it not been for this opportunity, I believe it would have been very difficult for me to find employment,” says Botha, adding that he believes there are lots of opportunities for him at Sun International, despite his disability. “I am living with a rare condition called Minicore Myopathy which slows down the progression of muscle growth within the human body. Due to my physical disabilities, I am limited in the types of jobs and fields I can pursue. However, I am mobile and I am no different from anyone else who has ambition and career aspira-
tions.” His pet hate is complaining and people who complain. “Complaining gets you nowhere,” he says. His advice to other youths who face challenges in furthering their studies or gaining employment: “Refrain from allowing your mind to control you by believing you can’t get something done because of disadvantages within your life, whether it’s family or personal problems. You can achieve a lot if you just stay focused. I always imagine only having myself and not having anyone to assist me with getting through life. This leaves no choice but to make something of yourself, by yourself. My motto is ‘a true winner never gives up’. I have always lived by this.” The Boardwalk’s General Manager Brett Hoppé says, “Andrew’s story is inspiring for young people who might feel hopeless about their future. He is proof that if you have a willingness to learn and a positive outlook, you can rise above your circumstances to achieve. Grab every opportunity to develop that comes your way. You have the power to change your reality.”

Breathe conference for Oxygen Day ANIKA DE BEER WHAT better way is there to celebrate World Oxygen Day than with a week-long conference that is all about breathing? The Global Inspiration Conference (GIC) 2016 is set to take place from July 1 to 8 in the conference centre of the Boardwalk Hotel. The conference is held in a different country every year, and Marie Rose Windels won the campaign to have GIC 2016 in South Africa this year. According to Marie Rose breath is something we often take for granted. The conference is organised by the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF), which has recently been recommended for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN. There will also be several keynote speakers present and participating in the conference. These presentations are open to the public at an entrance fee of R100. Breathing Circle at O2 Open Door Day Those not registered for the conference can participate by attending an O2 Open Door Day at Hobie Beach on Wednesday, July 6, at 2pm where a breathing circle will take place. The NMMU choir will also be there to perform a song called “Oxygen in a bottle”, to celebrate World Oxygen Day. Creative Living Festival Port Elizabeth will also welcome back the annual Creative Living Festival in con-
junction with GIC 2016. Last seen in 2012, it is set to return with a bang this weekend alongside the GIC at the Boardwalk Hotel. Organisers Evy Evlambiou and Maria Markides invite everyone to come and have a look at the festival and support local vendors. “The festival is all about health and culture and will offer a variety of products and treatments, ranging from different traditional clothing to therapeutic massages,” said Evy. The festival will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, and the entry fee
is R20 per person. For more info on the Creative Living Festival, contact Evy at 082 823 1525. To register for the conference, go to www.ibfnetwork.com/gic/2016. WIN! WIN! WIN! The PE Express is giving away five one day passes, worth R1 100 each. To enter, send an email with your contact details to express.web@media24.com. Include “GIC” in the subject field. Winners will be notified by means of contact details provided to us.

Local business leaders urged to brave cold and sleep out for charity REPORTER THE Boardwalk’s executives, employees and representatives from about 50 local organisations will be spending the night under the stars on July 28 to raise awareness and collect necessities for local children’s charities. The Boardwalk challenges other local businesses to join its team of volunteers in braving the cold for one night at the 2016 CEO Sympathy SleepOut to help spread warmth and hope amongst vulnerable children at Healing Minds Community Centre and Khayalethu Boys. Sympathy SleepOut volunteers will spend the night under the stars in the Wimpy Forecourt at The Boardwalk. There will be various activities throughout the night to keep everyone in good spirits as they give up their home comforts to support this worthy cause. In addition, soup will be prepared on site for distribution to needy communities the following day by The Boardwalk staff members. The Boardwalk’s CEO Sympathy SleepOut is aligned with the Sun International CEO SleepOut to be hosted in Johannesburg on the same night. The CEO SleepOut, founded in Australia in 2006, challenges local business leaders to join the global movement to raise funds, awareness and empathy for homelessness and the challenges faced by vulnerable children every day. The inaugural South African CEO SleepOut in 2015 raised more than R26 million through
its inaugural event. Many of the country’s top business leaders have already registered to participate in this year’s event. The Boardwalk’s general manager, Brett Hoppé, said, “We encourage caring businesses to be part of our first CEO Sympathy SleepOut. We will be spending a night under the stars in a show of solidarity with Sun International’s CEO, Graeme Stephens, and representatives from some of the country’s top companies. “By sacrificing home comforts for just one night and donating to this worthy cause, local companies can help alleviate the burden on two of Port Elizabeth’s children’s charities by providing warmth, nourishment and other necessities. These organizations rely heavily on the support they receive from caring corporate citizens to continue operating.” Companies can be part of the initiative for a donation of R5 000 or items to that value. On the wish list from Healing Minds Community Centre are a computer, washing machines, an electric stove, toilets, a deep freezer, an urn, kitchen cabinets and appliances, bed linen, curtains and a taxi for transporting the children. On the wish list for Khayalethu Boys is warm winter clothing, personal hygiene products and toiletries, sports equipment, cleaning materials, and boys shoes, in particular “takkies”. For more info about participating in the Boardwalk’s CEO Sympathy SleepOut or making a donation to help the needy children in PE, contact Michelle Brown on 084 222 9347 or michelle.brown@axxess.co.za.

All the donated goods will also be distributed to various day care centres, old age homes and the homeless in the local community. Calling all junior chefs REPORTER BUDDING young chefs across the Eastern Cape are beginning to fire up their ovens and sharpen their carving knives as they hone their culinary skills for the region’s SPAR Junior Chef competition. Entries for next month’s competition, which is open to youngsters in Grades 5, 6 and 7, will close on June 30. The cook-off, which is now in its fifth year, provides young chefs with a chance to show their credentials in the kitchen. It all ties in with SPAR’s philosophy, explained Eastern Cape promotions and advertising manager Wendy Westraadt. “We are about family, health, passion and entrepreneurship and this initiative gives aspiring young chefs a platform to show what they can do while building their confidence.” Westraadt said that while the competition was always keen in pursuit of some great prizes, the children would enjoy “a great day of fun in the kitchen.” She added that there would be plenty of encouragement for the
entrants and that in-house chefs would provide tips and direction. While the kids have fun in the kitchen, Westraadt said parents could look forward to “tonnes of nerves.” “They get more nervous than the semi-finalists as they watch their kids take part in what is a confidence-boosting event.” Would-be chefs can enter by collecting an entry form from any SPAR outlet in the Eastern Cape and sending in the recipe they most love to cook. The top entrants will be contacted for a brief interview, with three semi-finalists announced afterwards. The crunch comes on July 13 at PastryWorks in Port Elizabeth when they will cook the recipe submitted to the judges. Contestants will also be given a mystery dish to make. Besides having loads of fun, Westraadt said there was plenty of incentive to enter. “Each semi-finalist will receive a hamper of goodies while the master chef will be taking home a tablet plus R5 000 in shopping vouchers to the mall of their choice.”

Explore the mind with Brendon Peel REPORTER AT the age of 18, local mentalist Brendon Peel was the youngest solo magic act to perform at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. This year will be his 6th year at the Festival. Brendon was born and raised in Port Elizabeth and at a young age he enjoyed pranks, practical jokes and tricks. After reading his first magic book he discovered an undying passion for this mysterious art form. At 16 he started performing closeup magic at a local restaurant. From this, interest in psychology behind
the mind-tricks led him to his love of mentalism for which he is renowned today. His show “Mind Over Magic is about exploring the human mind and the capabilities of the subconscious. The show includes mind-tricks, hypnotic suggestion and illusion which culminates into one hour of interactive and engaging entertainment that leaves the audience mesmerized. According to Brendon, this year’s theme is to open people’s minds and unlock their true potential by showing the infinite possibilities of what the human brain can do.
“The message of Mind Over Magic is simple: We all have the capability of unlocking our minds to achieve new heights. Overall, this production is a feelgood one for the audience as they can see there is a superhero in all of us. Mind Over Magic is being performed at the Masonic Back from June 30 to July 10. Tickets are R72 per person with discounts for pensioners and block bookings. Tickets can be booked through the National arts festival website or at the box office. For further enquiries contact Terry on 083 608 3710.

Bay’s Top Comedy Improv is out The Box NELSON Mandela Bay’s weekly comedy improvisation show “Whose Line PE” is relocating and relaunching. The show has been a popular feature of the local entertainment scene since its launch on February 3, 2015, and is the only show of its kind in South Africa to sustain weekly audience support, with improv shows in bigger cities being held only monthly. “We are proud to say that PE is the only city where a weekly comedy improv show like this has been able to get consistent and growing audiences. We’re grateful to the comedy fans in the bay for their ongoing support.” said Roland Gaspar, professional comedian and creator of the group.
“However, it is time to take the next step and grow it even further. The Black Box Theatre will give us an expanded infrastructure and is accessible to wider audiences. We are truly excited.” Gaspar confirmed that the group – which has until now been known as “Whose Line PE” as a tribute to the television show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” – will be relaunching at a new venue with a new name. The group will now be known as “The Black Box Comedy Improv” and will be resident in the “Black Box Theatre” situated at 33 Chapel Street in the same building as the trendy Roof Garden Bar. The venue has been part of the growing

The Urban Exchange Hiphop is also a regular feature at the Black Box Theatre which has recently come under the management of Dameon Van Antwerpen. “We feel that the Black Box Theatre is perfectly suited to comedy as a performance art and we look forward to being the home of the Improv crew.” The weekly shows will still take place on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. The glitzy relaunch event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5. Ticket prices remain R40 per person and bookings can be made on 041 582 1157. – REPORTER

Omdat ek so jonk was, het ek gou verbeter. Hy haal darem daardie kopseer van my af. “En die skool wens hierdie twee jongmanne alles van die beste toe vorentoe,” het January gesê.

Young woman triumphs over adversity REPORTER VOLKSWAGEN Group South Africa’s (VWSA) CSI initiatives continue to make a positive and tangible impact on the youth of Nelson Mandela Bay. United Through Sport (UTS), which is supported by Volkswagen, uses sport as a medium to promote child and youth development in disadvantaged communities. UTS impacts on the lives of over 30 000 children from disadvantaged townships in the Metro annually. VWSA Chairman and Managing Director, Thomas Schaefer, said, “The education and development of young people in our communities is a strong focus for Volkswagen and Lindiwe Cezula’s encouraging story motivates us as a company. That is why this year alone VWSA will invest close to R15million on CSI initiatives.” Hailing from New Brighton, 19-year-old Lindiwe Cezula, grew up under tough conditions with an illiterate mother who never had formal employment and her father having died when she was only two. UTS came across Lindiwe at Inqkubela Primary School in KwaZakhele through the Mass Participation Programme in 2009, where she immediately stood out as a talented netball player. “I didn’t even know there were netball trials on that day and I think this was a matter of being at the right place at the right
time,” said Cezula. Due to her impressive sport skills and academics, she was offered a full bursary which would see her attending Pearson High School in Summerstrand. When Cezula first joined Pearson High School in Grade 9 in 2011, through the UTS Bursary programme, she only scored 11% in English and 13% in Maths in her first exams. “Pearson High School was a completely different world for me. I have to admit initially I was incredibly overwhelmed – I went from being the top student in my previous school to being at the bottom of the class,” she said Cezula was determined to succeed, “Every Friday I would take a book from the school library and read it over the weekend returning it on Monday and every night I would study for four hours to try to catchup on my work - gradually term by term my marks started to improve,” she said. Cezula finished her four years at Pearson High School having represented the school in netball, debating and Eistedfodd. She also received the prize for the top isiXhosa student and the ‘Donovan Rabbie’ Award for Perseverance. She achieved a bachelors pass matriculation and is now studying towards a BA Administration and Politics degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University – she is the first person in her family to go to university.

PE resident chosen as Mrs Africa finalist
BWA/Investec 2016 Regional Business Achiever Awards winners announced
REPORTER PORT Elizabeth born, Noni Mbete (26), has recently been selected as one of the top 40 Mrs Africa 2016 Continental finalists. Mbete, a business manager in finance and insurance at Bidvest McCarthy, is the only finalist in the pageant from the Eastern Cape. “I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity to represent my country, and to be the only finalist from the EC.” Mbete, who currently resides in Walmer with her husband, Zukile Mbete, and two children, described charity work as “very close to my heart.” “My Mrs Africa journey involves a lot of humanitarian work. I am passionate about charity and taking the opportunity to give back. I still get so warm inside when I think of how I spent my birthday last month. I decided to feed 26 children from Walmer location in PE. “Through the amazing platform of the Mrs Africa Foundation, which is the official charity organization of the Mrs Africa pageant, we have two focus points that involve giving dignity back to women and young girls across the African continent through Dignity Dreams. Our other focal point is to financially support the Nzuri Project in Eastern DRC to treat women who suffer from Endemic Goitre and Fistula conditions. “In aid of this initiative, I am currently planning a fund-raising gala dinner in August. It will be at a very elegant venue in Summerstrand with our very own incredible PE talents who will grace us with amazing performances. There will also be well-known speakers giving wisdom on life topics. The official invitation with full details will be out

PACKAGE Payout (lumpsum only)
My name is Sanirisiwe 30 yrs old, testifing about the miracles that MAMASAMANTHAperformed in my life. I am one of the people who lost a lot of money to the so called doc-tors but when I read the testimony Larry wrote about MAMA SAMANTHA. I decided to try again called MAMA SAMANTHA and she told me all be fine with me if only I believe in her. My life was a mess, I had a lot of debts, working for 5years with no money that time my boyfriend had left me she used a crystal ball eye and gave me a magic ring which helped me. My boyfriend came back and now I am financially stable, my court cases were dismissed and I live happily now.

A SPECIAL PRAYER OF SUCCESS Before I met this powerful spiritual LADY AMELIA happiness was rare in my family. My life was filled with cheating, sick kids and bad luck. I tried many healers and remedies but all failed. I saw a testimony on local TV about and old couple, LADY AMELIA had united. I paid R200 consultation. She accurately read my fortune and told me my problems and showed me my enemies in water.
She performed a one day special prayer for me.

chosen seven sets of the softest compound. Tyre wear last year was minimal as Daniel Ricciardo was able to run a fifty lap stint on the soft tyre before needing to pit. Ferrari’s tyre choice could be put down to the fact that this track surface is a relatively smooth one with normally cool conditions. This combination often presents some struggle in getting tyres to the optimum temperature. As they’ve continually struggled to get the tyres to their optimal working range, Ferrari should find it easier to do with the ultrasoft tyre. This will be a crucial element of Ferrari’s progress and position this weekend. There is no doubt that Nico Rosberg is sitting pretty. He starts the weekend with a 24-point lead over Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in the race for the driver’s title. The fickleness of Formula 1 demands, however, that even a gap of 24 points must not be taken for granted. It’s this approach that has been Rosberg’s secret in 2016; to take every race on its individual merit. But the two Merc drivers might have to focus on more than just each other, especially in Saturday qualifying. Williams are notoriously good performers at the Austrian Grand Prix thanks to the Mercedes power unit and Red Bull are no slouches thanks to the step up they’ve made with the upgraded power unit. But while they are looking at each other all of them are aware of what Mercedes can deliver. On several occasions in 2016 it’s been shown that the Silver Arrow is not as potent when it runs in dirty air and under pressure. The qualifying session on Saturday will be the critical point for any driver or team to stop a complete Merc domination.

THIS SPORTING LIFE: MICHAEL SHAFTO
JBay WinterFest unleashes What about a new Bok skipper? feisty lineup for 2016 HE’S perhaps the smallest scrumhalf in the business but in just three Tests for the Springboks the blond pocket-rocket known as Faf de Klerk is fast becoming a No 9 of true distinction. Yes, JP Pietersen was named Man of the Match in last weekend’s series-winning 19-13 Boks’ defeat of Ireland at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Bay Stadium, yet one has to agree with Nick Mallett on TV that the award might so easily have gone to De Klerk. He is playing rugby of the highest quality these days – and he makes it look so easy. As easy, indeed, as the nonchalant manner in which he makes the rugby ball spin on the ends of his fingers when he has nothing better to do. De Klerk, while his classy play has nudged him to the head of the scrumhalf queue, reminds one so much of tiny Tommy Gentles or Davey de Villiers – which in itself is praise of the highest order. What made De Klerk’s elegance all the more praiseworthy last Saturday was the way in which it lifted the performance of his teammates. Early on, with Ireland looking
razorblade sharp as they took a well-merited 10-3 lead, it looked as though the visitors, as in the first Test in Cape Town, were once more on their way to a second victory in the three-match series. Thankfully, for the Boks, this was not to be as the entire team, urged on by the jaunty No 9, began slowly but surely to claw its way back into the match. Even then things still looked bleak for the home side as Irish centre, Luke Marshall, in the 15th minute, crashed over for a wellworked try. Surprisingly this seemed to signal an injection of new vitality in the Boks. Willie le Roux, who had been yellow-carded – unfairly many felt for a mid-air collision with Ireland fullback Tiernan O’Halloran – was back on the field by then and the fullback’s return gave new vigour to the Boks’ cause. At this stage the Boks – only enjoying a fraction above 30 per cent of possession – began to play with renewed vigour. In the space of eight minutes with an Elton Jantjies’ penalty and then his cross-kick for JP Pietersen’s charging try that smashed through several desperate tackles,
MAGIC AUTO
the home side were able, with the conversion, to grab a precious 1310 halftime lead. But nothing was easy. With the Irish dominating possession, it was touch and go to the very end. But as well as the Irish played, the Boks defended as though their very lives depended on it. Make no mistake, this is an Irish team with plenty of courage and ability. Paddy Jackson at flyhalf was outstanding. The pack, as a unit, gave as well as they got in the exchanges for possession; and for the most part largely dominated in the tight. But the Springboks gave as good as they got. Apart from scrumhalf De Klerk, those who stood out for the home side included centre Damian de Allende, No 8 Warren Whiteley, flanker Siya Kolisi, who seemed at times to be here, there and everywhere; locks Pieter-Steph du Toit and Eben Etzebeth were rock solid, the former in particular. Captain Adriaan Strauss hasn’t quite hit the form expected of him. Has coach Allister Coetzee got other plans? Could he be thinking of retaining Strauss as hooker but transferring the captaincy to Whiteley? It mightn’t be a bad idea.

REPORTER SOUTH Africa’s top surfers, iconic athletes, mountain bike enthusiasts and cold water junkies headline this year’s JBay WinterFest. Now in its fourth year, the annual JBay Winterfest sponsored by Woodlands, is set to take place from July 6 to 17. The exciting line-up taps into the festival mood with some bold new events on the calendar, as well as refreshingly different formats for some existing events. The anchor event of the festival is the JBay Open of Surfing, which brings the world’s best surfers to town, including legends like Kelly Slater and Mick Fanning. Local support will lie with Steven Sawyer from Jeffreys Bay, as well as South African Jordy Smith who won two titles back in Jeffreys Bay back in 2010 and 2011. The majority of the events that rocked Jeffreys Bay in 2015, will be back this year. New on the menu is the Quiksilver Junior Pro and the Roxy Junior Pro at Magnatubes from July
8 to 10. The event caters for surfers in the u.18, u.16 and u.12 divisions. The Adam Rocks boasts the same features and accessories as Adam Glam with added details such as a swing top canvas roof, increased ride height, cladding around the wheel arches and along the sills, and front and rear skid plates. A number of Apps are pre-loaded, including BringGo navigation and TuneIn internet radio. The Rocks also features Siri Eyes Free, a unique-in-class feature that integrates the Intellilink system with later-generation iPhones and iPads via a USB cable. It activates Apple’s voice control so that you can ask Siri about the weather, where the next fuel station is, and ask her to remind you to pay the electricity bill. Then there are the sporty 3-spoke steering wheel and sport pedals. Although there is not much legroom in the back, the backseat passengers can sit back and relax in comfy sculpted seats. Other comfort features include climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, height and reach adjustable steering column, power windows and cruise control. There are also more than enough cupholders, power outlets and USB inputs. The boot is also quite small, but even this is unique as it is opened by pushing the Opel emblem on the bootlid. Municipality to host marathon for unity REPORTER THE Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) Municipality’s partnerships with Eastern Province Athletics and Athletics South Africa are key in promoting social cohesion, sport and a healthy lifestyle in the region. That was confirmed at the Launch of a 1 City Relay and 42.2 km Marathon, jointly organised by the three entities at Uitenhage Town Hall last week. The event will be held on July 3, 2016. The Relay and Marathon have been organised as part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s mission to build social cohesion among the people of PE, Uitenhage and Despatch. The Relay and Marathon were conceived as part of the municipality’s Mandela Month activities. It also forms part of the Nelson Mandela Legacy Project, which the Municipality is currently implementing. Deputy Executive Mayor Bicks Ndoni said at the launch that sport development was one of the key focus areas that the Municipality was using to unite the people of Nelson Mandela Bay. The routes of the Relay and Marathon will start from Muir College, run through Despatch
and finish at the Port Elizabeth City Hall. The marathon starts at 6:30am and the relay at 7am. The event has been sanctioned by Eastern Province Athletics. The event is open to both individuals and groups. For the marathon, participants must be 20 years of age or older. Athletes may be requested to provide proof of age on the day. Primary school participants must have been born after 2004 to qualify for the relay – equating to a minimum age of 12 years. Prize money for both men and women athletes participating in the marathon runs down to 5th place: R10 000, R6 000, R4 000, R3 000 and R1 500 respectively. All the other categories run down to 3rd place. Prizes for club relay teams are a whopping R20 000 for male and female teams consisting of 4 members, and R6 000 for mixed teams also consisting of 4 members per team. Social and Corporate teams have 8 members per team, with first prize set at R4 000. The Social and Corporates categories’ run is divided into 8 legs. Schools, both primary and high, can win R4 000 each for first place, R1 600 for second and R1 200 for third. Note must be made of the bonus on offer of R10 000 to the winning primary and high schools. There are 8 legs for the schools.
