LUKE

22:39-46: NOT FULLY FORMED

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” // Luke 22:42

“To pray, ‘thy will be done,’ I must be willing, if the answer requires it that my will be undone.”

To surrender our will to God’s will requires that we take three steps:

1. Vulnerability—we must be open with God about our circumstances.

2. Acceptance—we must be willing to accept God’s will.

3. Choosing—we must make the choice to put God’s will above our own.

We have the choice to surrender ourselves to the will of our Father or to not do so, and at the heart of the matter, the choice is to begin to surrender ourselves to God’s will.
