LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD

*Affirmation of Faith

What is your only comfort in life and in death? That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

(From the Heidelberg Catechism)

*Congregational Response

Thine is the Glory- #209 (verse 1) Thine is the glory, Risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won. Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, Kept the folded graveclothes where Thy body lay. Thine is the glory, Risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won. **Life of the Congregation

MEMORIAL SUNDAY Today, we claim the hope that is ours because of Jesus’ resurrection. We believe that Christ “has indeed been raised from the dead” and because of this we believe that “in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:20-22). As we read the names of our members who have gone to be with the Lord, taking their place in “the Church Triumphant,” we do so knowing that death has been swallowed up in life.

The Peachtree Trust: “A Living, Lasting Legacy” Resources to build a dormitory in Malawi to house 50 girls, enabling them to safely get a secondary education. A year’s living expenses for a Peachtree member to join International Justice Mission to stop human trafficking in Kolkata, India. Furniture to improve the experience of our youngest members and their caretakers. These are some of the examples of the power of the Peachtree Trust, which exists to provide an opportunity for members to perpetuate their financial support even after life’s earthly end.
