CELEBR ATION OF WORSHIP
Peachtree is a community of Jesus followers inviting people to love God in heart, mind, soul, and strength.
ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME Prelude Angels from the Realms of Glory
arr. Hart Morris
Congregational Introit Angels from the Realms of Glory #168 (v. 1) *
Prayer of Adoration*
GIVE PR AISE TO GOD Hymn of Praise† Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence #148 Lighting the Candles Placing the Bible Lighting of the Advent Wreath Prayer of Confession Have mercy on us, O God; we often boast in our wisdom, we boast in our wealth, and we boast in our strength. In the pride of our thinking, we make up our own rules and follow the selfcentered desires of our own hearts. As a result, our world is not right with itself, and we are not right with you. We humbly confess our sins before you and ask for your mercy. Hear us as we offer our wayward selves to you…
LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Offering Our Gifts Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella

GO IN GOD’S NAME Hymn of Response* Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus #151 Invitation and Benediction* Postlude
arr. Howard Helvey
Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella. Bring a torch to the cradle, run! It is Jesus, good folk of the village; Christ is born and Mary’s calling; Ah! Ah! Beautiful is the mother; Ah! Ah! Beautiful is her son! It is wrong when the Child is sleeping, It is wrong to talk so loud; Silence, all, as you gather around. Lest your noise should waken Jesus. Hush! Hush! See how fast he sleeps! Hush! Hush! See how fast he sleeps!
Assurance of Forgiveness Hymn of Praise O Little Town of Bethlehem #171 (v. 4) Life of the Congregation†
Hasten now, good folk of the village; Hasten now the Christ Child to see. You will find him asleep in the manger; Quietly come and whisper softly. Hush! Hush! Peacefully now he sleeps. Hush! Hush! Peacefully now he sleeps. Congregational Response* Joy to the World #161 (v. 4)
* Those who are able, please stand. † Ushers will seat latecomers at this time.
If your young child needs attention during worship, live broadcasts of the service are available in the Williams Center and the Nursing Mothers and Infants Room off of the Williams Center.

ADVENT SUNDAY
See page 4 for a complete list of participating students.
Today is the second Sunday of Advent. Advent is a season of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus on Christmas. Advent candles help us keep watch for the coming of Jesus. Today we relight the candle of hope, and we light the candle of peace. As we prepare for the coming of Jesus, we remember that Jesus is our hope and our peace.
