Easter Sunday
On Easter Jesus Christ became Lord of the entire universe. Come celebrate with us this day and make him Lord of your life.
CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT INVITATION TO THE TABLE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: THE NICENE CREED (IN UNISON) I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; And he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spoke by the prophets. And I believe one holy catholic and apostolic church; I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. THE COMMUNION PRAYER Pastor: Gracious God, as we enter a new year, strengthen us to hold fast to the faith we profess. Pour out your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts of bread and wine, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. Throughout this coming year grant us grace to abide in you, bearing fruit in every good work. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy church, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty God, now and forever. Amen. WORDS OF INSTITUTION
DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD* * The communion bread was made gluten free but not cut in a dedicated facility. DISTRIBUTION OF THE CUP UNISON PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Gracious and loving God, you have made us one in the body of Christ, and nourished us at your table with holy food and drink. Thank you for feeding our hunger and relieving our thirst. Now send us into the world to do the work you have given us to do: to find the lost and lonely, to heal broken souls, to free prisoners, and to love in Jesus’ name. Grant us strength to persevere in resisting evil, and to proclaim in all we say and do your good news in Christ Jesus our Savior. Amen.
“I am the bread of life. All who come to me shall not hunger, and all who believe in me shall never be thirsty.”
ROSS DOUTHAT ADVERTISEMENT
Ross Douthat | Jan 22, 2014
Author of the bestselling book, Bad Religion, and the youngest ever op-ed columnist for The New York Times, is coming to Peachtree. “Not only is Ross Douthat’s account of orthodox Christianity’s decline provocative, but his critique of today’s ascendant heresies is compelling. This volume is a sustained proof of Chesterton’s thesis that when people turn from God, ‘they don’t believe in nothing—they believe in anything.’ Everyone who is interested in why the church is faring as it is in U.S. culture today needs to get this book.” — Timothy Keller,
Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City
Doors open at 6:30 | The provocation begins at 7:00 Tickets available at: peachtreepres.org/news/douthat
Tours of Peachtree Tours of Peachtree will be given January 12th following each worship service. Please meet in the Williams Center by the piano.
